Microsoft is launching their Match Made in Hell promotion for
Gears of War this week, and what better way to show off the game's chainsaw bayonet than at an advance screening of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning? On Wednesday (Oct. 4), AMC theaters in New York, Chicago, LA, and San Francisco will be treating select attendees to a bloody big screen demo of
Gears. There are only a limited number of tickets available at the official site, but Microsoft is planning additional events before the game arrives Nov. 7.

wow, MS is truely dry-humping the hell out of Epic's new IP. Let's hope the GOW is as much of a hit as MS hopes or they will surely look like complete and total asses... Imagine if the same amount of hype had surrounded Brute Force... including advance play test in movie theaters. That would have been a total disaster. For MS sake I "prey" GOW lives up to all the hype its causing. Personally, Im sticking to the idea that it will be no where near as good as everyone claims so that I will be pleasantly blown away when it turns out to be in instant classic.
While I'm here on my soap box I have a suggestion for MS. Instead of lowering the price of the 360 add 1 year of xbox live and 2 "platinum" games (a $110 value) and we all know it will cost even less than that to bundle those in. That way you look like a true value package when compared to the competition, PLUS you get to hook all those people still holding out from xbox live. Its win, win baby!
In addition I would like to submit the game Gunz: The Duel to be reviewed by the Joystiq staff. The English version is still in beta but set to go live next month. In the meantime anyone can join for free and the game is 100% free. Awesome game, try it out http://www.gunzonline.com/

Gears looks to be more multiplayer then single player, like Halo 2. Online Co-op is something I really look foreward to and multiplayer in Gears should deter those pesky 12 year olds.

to bad multiplayer is limited to 7 or so players.

Ah, a game called "Killzone" for the PS2 comes to mind...
"Halo Killer" I believe one magazine refered to it as.
Now? Lol.

I live only a short bike ride away from an AMC theater, and live in a village right outside of Chicago 0_0

Good point, but you forget that game was on the PS2. There is no way in hell a PS2 FPS could even come close to what the Xbox FPS's could do. This time around, both games are on an Xbox machine. And although I highly doubt it will be a "halo-killer", it'll be interesting to watch the popularity spury it will have. And it will definitely come closer than Killzone ever could to being said halo killer.

Forgive me for not getting too excited about this one. Any game that aspires to "kill" another game just never cuts it in my book.
Halo was unique because it apsired to be it's own game and carve out a sorely needed place in the console FPS market. While Halo certainly wasn't the first console FPS, it provided a great single player experience and terrific multiplayer game utilizing the best of X-Box and X-Box Live.
Any game that is so successful as Halo, GTA or even Mario is going to have it's imitators looking only to repeat the original's success, not surpass it. For this reason games likes Gears of War are never that good just because developers are never doing anything truly innovative.

wow this is the same story that everyone else posted yesterday

Who in the hell said that GOW was a HALO killer....? Did you hear that from Microsoft......?
IMHO it's a blockbuster ment to sell consoles until HALO 3 comes out...

They had to do something to get people to see that stinker of a movie.
