I think there are levels, and the most out of any fanboy level we see is the extremist. I am partial to Nintendo, because I've had everything from them. That is what I grew up on was NES, SNES, and the orginal GameBoy (Gray scale for you young people). And I will always buy the Nintendo Products. However I can see valid points, and I do buy and own other systems and games. So I'd say I'm a fanboy, but on a mature level. I will always support nintendo, but I know that the market grows and I'll end up getting another console after I have the money. But I do wait to buy a console of the next gen untill they are all out and I see games that I really want, atleast 3 of them. thats what it was like for current gen, I did not get a gamecube till LoZ:WW, Super Smash Brothers, and Mario kart were all out. I never played PS2 untill FFX and KH1. I don't own the system, but I've bought games for it, my brother owns it. And I've played Xbox, but its not a system I'd buy for the games, I'd buy it to mod it because I'm into that kind of stuff.

I like people who view games like me, they are partial to what the like, but they are willing to try other games and don't try and talk any other system down.

To Pirate Pete (Msg #52):

All I'm detailing is the truth, son.
Sorry my enthusiasm in writing distracts you.
Read my post for real this time & ask yourself the questions I proposed.
Compare the answers you come up with & imagine another game company in that situation.
Will your answers match?

If Nintendo has enthusiastic supporters, it's like the guy I responded to said. They've EARNED it.
And they continue to show that that earning is not in vain. They don't take it for granted is what I'm saying. That's why they keep bringing innovation & new approaches to the business. It's easy to rest on your laurels after success.

You can call it fanboyism or NDF Nintendo Defense Force or whatever. But the support is there because the company continues to earn it. Should they suddenly change in all that they do the support too will change.

People have a problem with praise. And I can understand some of the concern. You don't want a business becoming complacent or taking advantage of buyers in general. But SOMEBODY has to give props where props are due.

The reason you are PLAYING videogames today is because of Nintendo.
The reason gaming both gameplay & interfaces have made such evolutions is because of Nintendo.
The reason you have "CONSOLE WARS" is because of Nintendo.

And if you don't believe my words now you will when Wii takes off.
Only THEN will you understand who is the foundation & engine that keeps this whole industry going.
The cliché used for the Civil War era USA applies Nintendo.
They ARE the Abraham Lincoln of the game industry.

All it takes is a little history lesson.

IDF is Isreal Defense Force..

Also, ADF is putting up a pitiful fight against the MDF (Microsoft Defense Force) -- they've had to ditch their primary weapons (Computer sales) and use their smaller backups (iPods).. and it's not very effective..
