It's official, Sony has decided not to use our clever "Dual Shake" moniker. Instead, they've announced the final name of their (somewhat) new PS3 controller today: Sixaxis, in light of the interface's "six degrees of freedom" initiative. The dual-shock-less controller supports both wireless and USB wired connectivity, Bluetooth capabilities, and will sell in Japan for ¥5,000 ($42) on its November 11 launch.
Two additional accessories were also priced: A memory card adapter used to upload PS and PS2 data to PS3's hard drive (as expected) for ¥1,500 ($13) and a state-of-the-art Blu-ray/DVD controller for ¥3,600 ($31) for would be movie watchers. Both will be available at launch.

Want dual fries with that? afaik it was Dual Shock.

After using the 360 controller for a while, the Dual-Shock feels so uncomfortable to hold and use.
Sixaxis is nice and descriptive I guess. I just hope publishers put it to good use.

@Mastertoad - Dual Shock was the PS2 controller. Dual Shake was the term coined for the PS3 controller - what I found interesting was it doesn't shake at all (no rumble) and you don't shake it to use it, but whatever.
With a Japanese price of 5,000yen, this will likely sell for $49.99 in the US.
Anyway, as far as I'm concerned it is a crippled PS2 controller (no rumble) with a yet to be shown/proven tilt function. At least move the left stick to its rightful position!

You just got pwned and you suck! You are way behind times man. There is no "DualSHOCK" for the PS3 they got sued by immersion and won't pay to use immersions technology...therefore the controller has no vibration feedback and is now a copy of nintendo's motion feedback controller.
You are a complete dumbass!

The internal battery for the wireless controllers is Nickel Metal Hydride - aka: battery memory for shorter and shorter rounds. You will HAVE to buy a new controller at least once a year if you're an average gamer.
Not only is the battery gonna crap out soon, but the USB cable for charging WILL BE SOLD SEPARATELY!!! You cannot use AA batteries.
TO SUM UP:
- No replaceable batteries
- Comes with rechargeable Nickel Metal Hydride
- USB charging cable sold separately (don't know price yet)
- Yet another crappy computer for FPS

Does anyone know if the Wii-mote shakes?

Also: they announced that the internal battery will take 30 min. to fully recharge and that it will last for 30 hours on a charge.
Sweet, I'm looking forward to this pricing model: expensive system, cheap peripherals and industry standard upgradeable parts like a standard interface HDD.

Their DVD players suck, their game systems suck, their computers suck, their proprietary formats suck, and their new TVs suck. There is nothing good left of Sony, out of what little good they had in the first place.
As for the Sixaxis crap they're pulling, I say have your fun while you can. Cause that steaming pile of excrement isn't going to fly very far.
As for the only reason Sony has ever done well (fanboys, please read this..) Squaresoft, Enix (now Square-Enix, of course), and Konami. If it weren't for those three developers, Playstation 2 wouldn't have even come out. You've come this far only because Carts were too expensive to make games on compared to CDs.

Suppose all the joystiq and xboys never will move on from "Attack on Pearl Harbor"
Most of Americans refuse Japanese products.
Same thing in Japan too,
Lotta of Japanese refuses to buy 360 because USA nuked their cities.

The Wii Remote has confirmed rumble, and it is also rumored that the nunchuk features rumble (a developer mentioned it a week or so back).
Reply
It also has a motion sensoring technology that the PS3 could not even dream of.
Note: That you can turn of the rumble, if you don't like it.

There is no way after all the other stupid stuff that Sony has done that this could be true. You have to have replaceable batteries for when it dies while playing.

so basically they dine and dash(ie steal)
and then kaz goes on to say that they didnt include rumble because it would be too expensive for the consumers, well thanks for looking out for me sony!!!!
oh how i love spin

(which, by the way, no console is capable of running adequately.)

Wow. That's an amazing leap of logic you just had there. I like the 360 and I like the Wii. Does that mean I have a problem with the Russians?

By the way, all you fanboys here need to grow up.

Sony is losing all of their once 'exclusive' titles and basically has shit for titles now. There is not one great thing about the PlaySuckStation times three that will appeal to the masses.

They know Sony is inferior when it comes to design, quality, fun factor, etc, so they have to try to belittle the competition as much as possible. Ohh MS hardware sucks.. yeah? Your first PS2 still works? Mine does 'cause I never play it, I know too many people who have gone through 3 or 4 PS2's by now.
Nintendo games are for kids. I'm sorry but that comment can only come from someone who constantly loses to a 10 year old in Mario Kart (and other sports) and Smash Bros. If you were actually good at games like that, you'd enjoy them a lot more than anything Sony puts out.
And the being too poor to buy a PS3 comment... saying something like that is not anything to be proud of. Haw haw you can't afford the uber l33t Blu-Ray (which most fanboys actually call Blueray, LMAO.. d=...).
And the worst part is. Look how intelligently my posts have been written over the.. very long time of me posting on Joystiq. And look at what Sony fanboys spew out of their fat fingers mashing on keys and missing commas.
I think we clearly see who the victor is.

Yeah I will get flamed so what.
On to the SIXAXIS thing. Let Sony name their products as they wish. It isn't going to change anything. Your whiney Sony bashing is ultimately fruitless and perpetually annoying. Go root for your hometeam, and don't go peeing in the away team's dugout. Every system has it's plusses and minuses, it is to be expected. Besides, the SIXAXIS, whether $40 or $50, is STILL lower than the Wiimote with Nunchaku attachment. I think the prices are very fair, especially the $10 memory card adapter.
Even though I am a Sony fanboy, I must say that copa's comment about the 6-D to 4-D was hilarious.
And hey, here's a thought: If you flame product, does that mean that you, yourself, are a flamer? Yeah, now shut up.
