Duke Nukem on XBLA has "already been discussed"

At least, that's how we imagine such a discussion to go down within the finely decorated offices of 3D Realms. Following Doom's successful outing on Xbox Live Arcade, fans have already begun a clamorfest (not an actual word) for an Xbox 360 port of that other FPS classic, Duke Nukem 3D. Commenting on the official 3D Realms forums, staff member Joe Siegler assured visitors that the idea had been favorably considered, but that getting a game onto Microsoft's service wasn't as easy as e-mailing them the original code.

"I talked about this yesterday with George, he's all up for the idea, but we don't have the time to do the port ourselves, plus there's the issue of whetther [sic] Microsoft would really want it. Don't just assume they would, there's a big submissions procedure to go through. Plus their release schedule is booked solid for quite awhile now, even if we delivered it to them today, I would imagine it wouldnt' [sic] come out for awhile anyway."

Imagine that. Still, if Microsoft were to eventually give the game their stamp of approval and a developer like Nerve were tasked with porting the game, it would probably be well worth the wait.

I think they should save Duke Nukem for the PS3 Arcade because the PS3 won't have lag like Doom does on the Xbox 1.5

lag can happen to a 5,000 dollar computer or a laptop from 1994. Its not the computer, it's all about the network. If you really expect Sony to have a perfect network backbone for launch you're in for a real rude awakening this november.

The PS3 is far more powerful than any mere $5000 computer. The Cell chip will easily bypass any lag not to mention the PS3 has built-in WiFi unlike the Xbox 1.5 which makes you pay extra for it.

Honestly, I'd hope to see this on every system because I loved DN3D, and I'm not getting an xbox for idealistic reasons. That's just me. Personally I would find DN3D more exciting than doom, but I don't think others would agree. Doom had a much bigger following I think. At least DN3D and Quake kinda competed and split the fps fanbase, whereas doom had no real competition (at least that's how it looks now, maybe that's not true).

If Duke3D ends up on the xbox live arcade, Ill actually put some serious thought into buying a 360 when the next price drop hits. Whatever doubts I had about the console are still there, but they are slowly being outweighed by little things like this.

I havent been able to play a good game of Duke3d since XP came out. Sure, you can jump through some hoops to get it running, but then if you want a multiplayer game, you have to jump through hoops on everyone elses computers (which doesnt work so well with non computer-saavy friends) and then you find out that half your friends havent even played Duke Nukem 3d in so long that nobody wants to do all the work anyhow.

Props to Microsoft if they let the port go through. Id bite.

Marathon needs to happen on XBLA. As does Goldeneye and the original Perfect Dark. Speaking of those two Rare games, who exactly owns the rights to them? I'd rather see them come out on both XBLA and Nintendo's Virtual Console then be stuck in limbo over publishing rights. I only bring that up because my N64 is recently deceased. And with all the new consoles, I don't have room for it anyway.

6 player Marathon deathmatches over the LAN in my dorm during my freshman year of college was pure joy. Oh, to experience that thrill again (with updated textures?). The SPNKR rocket launcher was the weapon that really set the early standard for arena weapons.

1. Wrong. The PC is already getting games that look better than PS3 games.
2. Blu-ray? No one cares.
3. 1080p? PC has had higher resolution than that for ages.
4. NO console OR PC can have a lag free experience. It depends on the network, which can be flawed, easily, or overloaded.

LOL then why did Cryech say that Crysis wont be on the PS3 or 360 because they werent powerful enough? my $2000 dollar computer meets the reccomended reqirements for Crysis why not the PS3?

First off, it won't be on the 360 because it is not nearly powerful enough. Of course the PS3 could run Crysis (in 1080p at 120fps I might add), but M$ has obviously paid them off to say otherwise.

Again, just because Ubisoft says that doesn't mean it's true. How is it not disgustingly obvious they were paid of by M$?! If Ubisoft even tried a little bit, AC would be far better on the PS3, especially the AI. Do you not realize what 7 SPUs can do with AI?!

Usually when one of those clowns: darryl, me, azn1080p, or other sony SUPER fans comment on a xbox post they are usually grouped together. Anyone else notice that? On topic, I thought the same thing the second Doom was annouced for XBLA, where is Duke3d? I recently rebought a copy back in march off of 3drealms.com. I couldn't find my copy and had to play it again. Classic Duke on xbox live would rule!

Haha this is the funniest shit ever, before I ignored your posts thinking you had a fanboy PS3 opinion and there typical of most, but I saw this one and couldn't help but read it then laugh. Are you really that ignorant and that big of a funboy to makeup things that anyone taht has some knowledge about networking ang aming in general would know?

If you went out and bought the most expensive top of the line gmaing computer from alienware, and got it to your house, Hooked it up and went on a game with a dial up connection, or connected to a host with a shitty connection you would get the gameplay of a shitty computer.

No matter how good your computer is power wise, If your connecting to a bad network or host, Your GOING TO have a bad connection no matter what, its the graphics in a way are serverside, and you can in theory only play without lag when the network is optimized to give you the most bandwidth that is possible. Assuming that you have someone hosting a game of 16 people on Xbox Live, If the connection is 10mb/s(DL)-56kb/s(UL), even though the hosts can download super fast, it doesnt mean he can host, and will result in a game drop or serve lag.
Say they want to host 16 with a 10mb/s(DL)-10mb/s(UL) All players games should perform as best as the game engine allows.

To some this down for you since it even confuses me when typed(not the idea but the typed idea), Your computer speed has little to do with a games lag. The lag is dependant on the hosts/servers connection. Your connection also has little to do with download, but more upload

I'd hope they do a better job than with Doom.

Don't get me wrong, I love Doom, and after a few minutes I no longer minded not getting something more akin to jDoom, but 4 player games lag like hell, and even finding them is rough.
Single player, and split screen co-op, is still every bit as fun as I remembered, which I didn't expect.

Also, I don't get why Microsoft would turn anything down. Too full of a release schedule? Cram more on! We don't need one release a week, we could use three or four. If they're good I'll buy them, it's not like I'd skip another game I'd otherwise purchase in favor of Duke, I'd just get both, maybe not at the same time but within a few weeks.
