I'm going to wait for the reviews, same with Red Steel. The controls, to me, are still up in the air. I want them to both be good, but whether or not they are is still up in the air.

It doesn't matter what they show or what they try to tell us. Nintendo lied to us. Just read the article from the link below. Wii hardware is nothing but a gamecube 1.5. I can't believe they fooled with the several interviews saying that Wii will look a little less than a 360 on standard TV.

http://www.gamebrink.com/news/602-Miyamoto_The_Interview_Part_2.html

"The hardware is basically a GC. We've upgraded our development tools to new versions but, you can still use GC programs as they are. With that in mind, I thought we could remake GC titles for the Wii and modify them to work with the Wii remote so that they're more fun to play."

uhhh jadnice: care to find one of those interviews? even one? i dare you to, because they don't exist.

Nintendo at no point ever said the Wii's visual capacity would be anything other than a small bump, and never said it would be on par with the PS3 or 360. For years they've been hammering the whole 'graphics arent important' mantra, i mean seriously.

and why the heck does it matter, honestly? the games look fun. i have a 360 for pretty graphics and big deep experiences, the Wii doesn't need to have them.

I read the entire both parts of that interview and they don't say what your implying. They say that the console uses the same system functions to the gamecube, but it's also implied that additional functions have been added if you read it carefully (Kinda like upgrading from DirectX9 to DirectX10 eh???) As well you'll also notice how they debated about giving Twilight Princess a graphical update because of "how much more powerful the wii was."

I can't comment on actual hardware specs because everything that has be "leaked" is simply rumor and nothing more. But every report from Nintendo has said the wii is much more powerful than the gamecube. And considering the cpu/gpu was developed from the ground up, I don't doubt it.

Think of it this way. Around the time of the gamecube, Geforce 3 was the most powerful graphics card, it also needed an adequate cooling solution, you could buy a high-end geforce 2 with passive cooling instead... xbox and GC were designed with the geforce 2, PS2 used an overclocked geforce 1.

Now the new generation is here, Sony and MS trying to get an edge over one another are using the Geforce 7600gtoc and 7900gtoc, while nintendo sits back with a passive heatsink on their passive heatsink 7600gs.

Although this argument is flawed... Because the way the companies go about developing graphic solutions are very different between one another.

Microsoft: Takes the PC equivalent and accelerates the console important technology while reducing windows required abilities to make room.
Sony: Develops their own stuff similar to Nintendo, but tries to take too much control away from the companies that specialize in that kind of technology. As a result they are bleeding edge, but very poor implentation. They're the experimental people, alot of what they design is useless so they get much smaller returns from their silicon than they should.
Nintendo: They've been building upon their own knowledge since day one. Engineers within the company have grown up through the 2d-3d days. They ignore global technologies like DirectX, OpenGL all that... instead they keep designing their own graphical calls.

The nintendo method is definately the best for designing a console gpu, the main difference is they opt to make a quieter and cooler system than the opposition. As well the opposition also gets the benefits of open-library-technology like DirectX and OpenGL, but unfortunately also inherit some of the restrictions from backwards compatible PC technology.

jadnice is yet another dancer on the the nintendo hate wagon, regurgetating more senseless banter meant to stear away the uneducated and then folks like me and Erich (great explanation by the way) have to come along and point out the flaws.

Man this anti-nintendo propaganda is getting old. It's so boring because it is all lies and I honestly don't know why people waste their time making up lies about a gaming company. Do car fanatics do the same with cars?

"Don't buy a Ford because I heard that five minutes after you first start driving, it explodes."

Well, I don't think people go that far. At least I hope not.

To all those who waste their time posting this garbage, realise this: IF WE ARE ON A SITE CALLED WII FANBOY, WE ARE SMART ENOUGH TO SEE THAT YOU ARE MAKING THIS STUFF UP.

If you really want to affect the purchases of probable Wii buyers, then wait until the kiosks arrive at your local Gamestop and then hand out Anti-Wii flyers to everyone who walks by. We'll see how long that lasts, lol.

Hmm... everybody knows that to make a racing game fun, you just have to make all the vehicles travel at 700 scale MPH. Oh yeah, and bounce off invisible walls... or other cars... and drive through bushes that won't slow the truck down.

Funny how on a system with less graphics power than the competition, the graphics are the only thing that received any real attention to detail.

I love racing games, but this would bore me in 5 minutes.
