I'm getting this pre-order. I think it's a good deal, but I honestly have no idea.

That isn't very good...and all I want at first is Zelda, anyway.

That isn't much of a deal, though those games look good. I have the system with Zelda and a controller w/ nunchuck at about $10 more... so really, the price is about right.

There's also a deal that's similar to this going down at Toys R' Us as well. Consumers will have two choices: The previously announced standalone bundle with one controller and Wii Sports for the Nintendo-endorsed system price, and another with two controllers and two games for something similar to the HBC (Hudson's Bay Company) deal.

I wasn't given specific prices when i put down my deposit, I was told I'd be informed closer to the release date. On the bright side, I was told I'd be given either option.

Yes, I pre-ordered. Yes, I did it on the first day the officially announced the release date and price. and shockingly, I'm still number 53 on the waiting list.

Go figure.

Why bother with pre-orders when there'll be enough consoles at launch? I'm getting a Wii for 279$CAN with the game I want, all at launch.

I fully intend to walk into a store at launch and pick up a Wii with the games I want -- no bundles. There will be plenty of Wii to go around, it seems.

Rogers Video, also here in Canada, was offering Wii and PS3 pre-orders for a while yesterday online. Both versions of PS3s were gone in about 2.5 hours, and the Wii in about 4. I'm suddenly less confident about the "strolling into the store" approach. I'm betting camping will be virtually the only way for non-preorderers to get their hands on one come the 19th, in Canada anyway. Also, hooray for Nova Scotia lifting their Sunday shopping ban just in time for Wii-Day!

Personally, I'm waitingfor the Futureshop pre-orders. Where I live the Toys R Us has been taking pre-orders for almost a year now, but I didn't go for that because of the fact that they don't even know the number of units they're getting. Hopefully Futureshop starts taking them soon...

I'm in Canada and pre-ordered mine from Toys 'R Us. Here is the link to their online site (although it looks like they arent taking any more pre-orders from this site): http://www.toysrus.ca/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10051&catalogId=10051&langId=-1&productId=87085&N=27+&nvalue=27

I dont expect there to be big shortages (like the 360) but it still may be hard to go in the day it is released and pick one up so I didnt want to take any chances. The bundle supposedly comes with 2 games and 2 controllers. I placed my order a while ago, before the date was even released so I hope I am pretty high on the list.

It's indeed a bundle but not a deal since buying everything seperatly (system at 279$ and 2 games at 60$ each plus taxes) will come to about 455$.

I pre-ordered mine at Toys R Us and I'm 22nd on the list.

Actually, as a Canadian, I am VERY offended by the "only half of Canadians live in igloos".

Anyone with decent education would know that no less than 71,47% (as of the 2002 Statistics Canada Census) of Canadians live in igloos.

Check your facts before posting your nonsense!
You're lucky I don't live in the US because I'm sure I could sue you for millions upon millions...

But seriously, I got a preorder from Toys 'R Us back in August, but I don't know what to do with it since I'm leaving the continent for at least 3 years before it comes out. Can you sell a preorder on eBay?

I knew my math was off on the igloos, j. Thanks for correcting me!

p.s. please don't sue, eek!

Also, the frozen part. We have the same climate as northern USA. I don't need a parka to take a step outside, and to my knowledge, there's no zellers in nunavut. I don't think they can make igloos big enough to hold a whole zellers. ;p

Also, thanks for posting the story, Alisha! :)

Yeah, but it's much more fun to think of the Jim Carrey quote re: Canada than to think of it as a real place, right?

I'm pretty sure that later tonight, a couple of my Canadian friends are going to drag me into an alley and beat me with sticks, but it's so worth it!

And thank YOU, Drew, for being so assiduous in keeping us updated.

I was one of the lucky bastards who got a preorder. It's not actually a deal, though. You pay the $455 upfront when you preorder. It's the same price for the Wii and 2 games whether you preorder or not! I'm just glad I got my blue coupon and receipt!

its definitely not a "deal" but you aren't getting cheated like the people on amazon either. you get the console for the same price you would pay at launch only this way you can walk in any time you want and pick it up.

also, as for the games i don't think there should be much of a problem returning them. even if i have to do it at a different zellers.
