Guitar Hero II setlist finds hell with Danzig, et al
MTV Overdrive's video gaming show, The G-Hole, spent some time with Guitar Hero II at Harmonix's studios in Boston and accidentally let their nosy camera spy some of the title's top secret tracks. This isn't the first time MTV let something slip. Last month, MTV's GameTrailers property accidentally revealed Megadeath's "Hangar 18" and Aerosmith's "Last Child" before their video got pulled. Good thing MTV owns Harmonix now too, eh? The G-Hole episode is still online, but all of the unknown tracks have been blurred out ...... but not before one diligent forum-goer copied down the entire list. Included in the newly revealed tracks are Danzig's "Mother," Kansas' "Carry on My Wayward Son," The Stray Cats' "Rock this Town," and more. In total, 38 of the reported 40 licensed songs have been discovered, with 15 more bonus tracks to come.
Check out the list, clipped after the break and -- before you have a temper tantrum 'cause your favorite face melter isn't on there -- tell us what's still missing? We'll take this opportunity to formally request some Tenacious D. Make it happen, Harmonix.
[Thanks, Supa]

Anyone but me missing The Eagles "Life in the Fastlane", ZZTop's "Sharp Dressed Man", or Sammy Hagar's "I Can't Drive 55"?
(If any of these are already in GH 1, my apologies.)
WhaleMenace @ Oct 5th 2006 6:27PM
Theres your problem, you played it for 5 minutes. Quit complaining.

WhaleMenace @ Oct 5th 2006 6:38PM
Where are the MINIBOSSES?? also the D.
But for realz,
I could have sworn a metallica song had been confirmed. Are you trying to tell me that 2 megadeath songs got in the games but not 1 metallica? that seems odd, ( though I do like megadeath)
Blake @ Oct 5th 2006 6:39PM
Wolfmother and Fooies hell yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bill @ Oct 5th 2006 6:41PM
It's Megadeth, not Megadeath.
John @ Oct 5th 2006 6:42PM

Layla.
Crosswayboy @ Oct 5th 2006 6:51PM
Now if I could only get a sequel to Frequency/Amplitude with a similarly stellar setlist which could include artists like Underworld, Daft Punk, The Chemical Brothers, Aphrodite, Groove Armada, Leftfield, Royksopp, Sasha, etc. (Just thinking of the big names for now) then that would really be something. No more tracks by Powerman 5000 and Pink... Jesus Christ...

Monkey Wrench?
Hot damn. The Colour and the Shape was the first CD I ever bought, so that makes me feel mushy inside.
beatrat @ Oct 5th 2006 7:00PM
Is nobody else excited that Lamb of God made the cut??
I won't need a strap I'll just rest the X-plorer on my boner!
WhaleMenacer @ Oct 5th 2006 7:06PM
I'm changing my name WhaleMenace! How dare you disgrace the WhaleMenacer with your correct spelling of Megadeth. I spit on your precious canada and its boot fitting. Go spellcheck a baby you NERD
TheThirdStrongest @ Oct 5th 2006 7:07PM
God damn WhaleMenace what the fuck? Forgetting to take out an extra letter in spelling a word we all spell all the time?
Although I'm surprised there isn't more Judist Preest on there or AC/DiCk. Also I thought I heard Iran Maden, MortarHead, Black Cabbage and Lead Zep9lin. If all of those aren't on there I'll eat a hotdog backwards.
Lixie @ Oct 5th 2006 7:07PM
"Sharp Dressed Man" by ZZ Top was in the first GH.
Teh Destroyer @ Oct 5th 2006 7:09PM
I'm glad they put in some Jane's Addiction and even more glad they put in Stray Cats. But holy shit Foo Fighters and Kansas!!! If Bad Reputation is actually Thin Lizzy and not fucking Joan Jett I'll pass out from excitement.
Vlad @ Oct 5th 2006 7:11PM
Oh God, if Tool isn't on here...they said they would be, so...UGH.
Minibosses will probably be one of the indie band/bonus tracks.
nice point by Crosswayboy, shit, that'd be a wet dream come true.
nintendo fan @ Oct 5th 2006 7:18PM
Since The Stooges are on it they had better make a Wii version.
DannyHibiki @ Oct 5th 2006 7:30PM
WHERE THE FUCK IS IRON MAIDEN!?!?!?
Brian @ Oct 5th 2006 7:31PM
Danzig Motherfucker!
Did anyone else hear that Glenn Danzig was originally supposed to be Wolverine in the X-Men movies but had a scheduling conflict? How much ass would that have kicked? Not only is he actually hight and build appropriate (unlike Hugh Jackman) but he is actually a certified instructor in Jun Kun Do.
All Hail The Misfits! Samhain forever!
Lynx34 @ Oct 5th 2006 7:37PM
I know this isn't possible due to fact that it would cost about 5 million in royalties, but no stairway? denied!
Noga @ Oct 5th 2006 8:32PM
FUCK YES
Judd @ Oct 5th 2006 7:49PM
They do a lot of 80's and early 90's songs in Guitar Hero but I'd really like to see more Classic Rock songs from the late 60's early 70's. Really happy to see "Jessica" on that list, but I'd like to see songs just like #18 and #32 mentioned, especially Layla. That long outro is perfect for GH. But where's The Doors, Hendrix, The Grateful Dead?
Quann @ Oct 5th 2006 7:54PM
Hmmm. I would have like to have seen Comfortably Numb, Fear of the Dark maybe some Dave Matthews Band aswell. But this is shaping up well. A good more 5-10 tracks should be on the way.
kmo @ Oct 5th 2006 8:06PM
also, they put wolfmother in it, they fuckin suck balls, yet not metallica, what are you thinking harmonix.
Adam D @ Oct 9th 2006 12:09PM
TENACIOUS D PLEASE!!!!!
TRIBUTE!!!! EXPLOSIVO!!!!
murph @ Oct 5th 2006 8:23PM
those last two better be AC/DC and Iron Madien...
usagi704 @ Oct 5th 2006 9:07PM
Killing In The Name! Yeah! I wonder if they will censor that song or not. If they do, I'll be pissed and wonder why they put it in at all!
trimbandit @ Oct 5th 2006 8:57PM
Remember that time when that dude punched out Danzig? That was awesome.
Also, it's been a while, but I don't remember Wolverine being bald in the Xmen comics.
Joe @ Oct 5th 2006 9:36PM
I knew a lot of those games that had been "marginally confirmed":
Killing in the Name- OPM many moons ago
Monkey Wrench (which I'm totally stoked for)- Eurogamer a month ago
Wolfmother was revealed at Gamestop a few days ago, and Carry On My Wayward Son was revealed Sept. 25th.
GH2 for life. Buying the PS2 version... then trading it in for the 360 version!
Josh @ Oct 6th 2006 4:25PM
The reason there's no Metallica, Zeppelin, and AC/DC is pretty obvious. Licensing costs a shit ton of money for all the songs they have as it is. Remember the fit Metallica threw because of Napster? I'm willing to bet they want unreasonable money for their music. Unlike Megadeth, who's fairly close to Metallica since the founding member is the original lead guitarist for Metallica. Led Zeppelin is notorious for not giving away rights, and so is AC/DC, who took forever to even have their songs on iTunes. A lot of songs rights are split between band members in bands that have long since broken up, making it damn near impossible to retrieve rights on many songs.
xdrewfacex @ Oct 5th 2006 9:44PM
i'd like to see a dragonforce song on there...
Wedge @ Oct 5th 2006 9:50PM
Metallica will never be in GH, because they're a bunch of uptight bitches and would never licencse their music out for any reasonable price. And I know they've been putting a few hair metal bands on here, most of which are okay. But Warrant? Warrant!? Are you fucking kidding me? Oh well, nothing can ever be worse than that Exies song on GH 1.

i don't have a ps2 so i haven't played guitar heroes yet, but am seriously thinking of picking up a used ps2 for 2 reasons. shadows of the colossus and guitar hero (1 or 2 doesn't matter). to me guitar hero sounds inventive and creative, and takes gaming to a different level (a level away from the numerous driving, sports and fps games: although i do like those also). this is also the reason i plan on purchasing a wii, and i'm an xbox fanboy figure that out!
with games like guitar hero and systems like ps3, xbox 360, wii, and the DS it is an interesting and exciting time to be a gamer (and i had a collecovision when it first came out). Now lets see a decent game with turntables and i'll just install a fridge and tiolet in my room
EdEN @ Oct 5th 2006 11:53PM
The Cure - Cut (From the Album: Wish).
Give this one a listen and see for yourselfs how that distortion guitar (two guitars actually) and bass line would feel on guitar hero.
Alex P @ Oct 6th 2006 12:09AM
Dragonforce...please Harmonix let it be so. There needs to be a song that literally no one can beat. Expert has become boring :(.
OMGMatrix @ Oct 6th 2006 1:00AM
Layla, Run Like hell (pink floyd), Dogs (pink Floyd), Fury of the Storm (Dragonforce), Starship Trooper (Yes). I'd buy the whole game if it were even only those 5 songs.
