Readers pick best webcomic (October 1 - 7, 2006)
Be it fond memories of Ocarina of Time or a predilection to chicken cruelty, Press Start to Play took the top spot as gaming webcomic of the week. Second place goes to Penny Arcade and Fanboys (in love) round out the top three. And this week, "none of the above" didn't outscore everyone! Huzzah! Thanks to everyone who voted; we'll be sure to mess around with the format next week, just to push more people into clicking for none of the above (we're just that evil). Be sure to let us know of any gaming webcomics you stumble upon this week!
Here's the breakdown:

every webcomic keeps topical and up to date with current gaming but press start to play has crappy jokes about zelda and mario, add to that bad artwork and i dont know how anyone likes it.

I like how PSTP doesn't conform to the things everyone else does, so when you read the archives, you don't have to pay attention to the dates.
Though they sometimes do topical stuff. See monday's comic:

That comic was awesome. So glad it won.

Cartridge comics should be on this list.

I'm surprised by how few votes dragon tails got.

crappy artwork? Adam has the most amazing art style ive ever seen. I dont care for the new scribbly style, but the other style is just flatout amazing eyecandy.
and you dont need to stay up to date and topical with gaming comics. I do a little bit of both because why just do one when you can get both? the main thing is that its funny and people think its funny. I dont know everything about the industry, but when penny arcade busts out a "poop. you know? from the butt?" i dont need to understand what their talking about. I dont need to play zelda to understand why press start to play was funny.
there's a reason it got first place.

wow - no Ctrl + Alt + Delete here? I mean sure, it has a bit more plot than some of the others, but its still genius...

Personaly I think the artwork for PSTP has always been fantastic in all of its forms. A worthy victory!
As for comics,we at RPG-TV take on the new SONIC game coming out soon...

Hey, after a few weeks hiatus, there's going to be a new gamer PALs comic on N-Europe, should be up tomorrow sometime, you'll be able to see it on the front page for the next few days at least:
www.n-europe.com/
Until it does go up, here's a link to my hosted version, but don't use this for the poll:

Press Start to Play was funny and pretty at one point. And it later traded it all in for bad art and stereotypical gaming comic humor. None of that good fresh gaming humor they delivered when they first got their site up.
They did a comic about Yoshi getting high on fuzzy and having it put on late night news for crying out loud. What a waste of talent.
They used to be funny and they seem to have rediscovered what humor they lost as this comic was actually funny. A first in weeks for them.
I hate being all analytical, but yeah, PSTP hit a slump.
