It's definitely not a rumor. I got a call from GameStop where I have 5 Wii games on reserve and they told me they start taking Wii reserves tomorrow (October 13th) and he was nice enough to tell me that they open at 10:00 a.m. and to be there right when they open. I am going to be there at 9:30 a.m. :)

Man I am so excited! I've never been more excited to spend $50 lol.

Actually although i think the Wii will sell VERY well this holiday season, it wouldn't surprise me if these pre-orders do NOT sell out, for two reasons.

A)The mass-market doesn't know about it, e.g. grandparents, parents not in the know, non-gamer girls. I think once this market sees the Wii (in stores, from family members) it'll start to Really pick up. It might be kind of viral if you will.

and the biggest reason
2)There should be plenty for early adopters to pick one up without a pre-order, meaning they won't have to go to eBay. I'd argue a LOT of the PS3 pre-orders are going up for 100% or more profit on eBay, and with Wii, you won't be able to get that (though Im sure some will try)

My throat may be sore to the point where it hurts every time I swallow, but I'll be in line at 8:30. This is the first console I've been excited enough about to want on launch day, couldn't miss it for the world. Also, I still have to preorder Twilight Princess.

ToDo: Charge DS Lite, find a book to bring, make sure the fold-out chair is in my car...

Screw EB/Gamestop. Not only are they the video game world's equivalent to Haliburton, but I can't stand the BS they pull. I believe the email said to call your local store to see how many they'd have, and although I know many employees are still tight-lipped about numbers, the one I just called muttered, "Uh I am not allowed to specifically say, but it will be first come first serve." No, really? Christ!

BB here I come...

The big news is that the stores all seem to be getting at least 20 units

Maybe this means my GameCrazy ( i know there's no relation, but the distribution should be similar) will have enough to get to me, way down on their pre-pre-order list

Man, this weekday bullshit fucks anyone who is still in school. I even have a half day tommorow and they are all going to be gone by the time I get off at like 10:45. At this point, I'm debating even getting a Wii at launch right now since the only game I want to get is TP and that is a Gamecube game.

I am seriously concerned with being early tomorrow. I Think FrankenNintendo will rise from the table tomorrow and many will see by far it is alive. Maybe Nintendo has its console mojo back. I will be there as early as they let me be there. Probably will bring the old DS to kill time and a chair so if I need a weapon.

Do you have to be a certain age to preorder? I'm 16 but I have conferences RIGHT when gamestop opens. Do you think I can just swipe 50 bucks and stand in line?

My friend just got from a really early lunch to try and reserve a Wii. He was 5th in line and they only took 4 reserves. EB Games you suck... Why even do pre-orders if you are only going to take 4. We live in Dayton, OH just to let you know.

EB Games & Gamestop have screwed fans over in the Wii reservation process.

A number of stores in Ohio only took reservations for 4-12 pre-order consoles and did not plan on getting any more. The one in my area only had 4 available for pre-order.
Another friend waited in line and was in front and told by store managers when the doors opened that their pre-orders had already been taken and maxed out THE NIGHT BEFORE the actual pre-order date!

I'm sure this is not happening everywhere but I'm completly put off by GameStop's lack of consoles and shadey business practices.

I don't know why we as video game buyers even bother shopping at GameStop/EB Games. The store that I went to only had 4 pre-orders, and a friend of mine went to one with only 8. How does this happen when there were 8-10 pre-orders for PS3s at the same stores? I thought there were supposed to be more Wiis?

Anyway, has this been happening to anyone else for these pre-orders? I'm wondering if something needs to be done about these GameStop chains and their practices. I recommend shopping at the mega-chain Wal-Marts and such to put these shady rat-bast@rds out of business.

Darth Pixel

I did stand in line (I was #1 as well), and within a matter of 10 minutes, we accumulated 11 people (here, they had only 11 Wii units available for pre-order, and 8 PS3s earlier this week). The last person said he went to all the other 10 or so EBG and GC stores in the area, and said that they all had their limit already.

Everyone there was over 18, and only one lady was getting it for her kid. At least 5 people were turned away, and the Game Stop guy was getting calls nonstop about the availability.

Yeah, there you go.

I got a pre-order at Gamestop but i still hate how they do business. I think they are going to force most people to purchase Bundle systems. Like get a Wii, 4 controllers, 4 game and Wii Points for only 800 dollors. I am going to avoid all EB Games and Gamestops from now on. They take advantage of our hobby and know hard-core gamers will pay almost any price which makes us all suffer.

The guy where I went said that they won't force bundles on us, most likely because of what happened with the 360.

Regardless if bundles are forced or not, it's still really crappy that the Wii pre-orders have been so limited. I'm sure there are other stores who will have more than enough come Nov.19th....with the exception of EB & Retards Inc.

Till then EB and GameStop have lost my allegience for good.

Anyone else have good game store recommendations?

I just don't get it they make a huge deal about reserving it and tell everyone to come out... And they do and then they send almost all home empty handed. Either they have some really sneaky tricks up there sleeve or EB/Gamestop are dumb and are going to lose a lot of loyal customers over this.

I got my pre order! I was number two in line at my local Gamestop in Houston, TX. I arrived there at about 8:30am there was only one guy ahead of me I was really shocked that there was not more turn out, yet this is a low volume store kinda tucked in a corner. The manager got there about 9:10am and let us know he had been alloted 8 units and 4 were already spoken for by employees. That is kinda unfair, but I guess it's one of the perks of being an employee/gamer/....ebayer?. I'm sure there will be plenty Wiis to go around come launch time but I'd just rather be safe than sorry. Please remember that Gamestop/EB is not in the business of making us happy, they are in the business of taking our money for profit. They aren't in business to be your friend so stop complaining about "being taken advantage of". It's a free country with a capitalistic financial core...soooo just shop elsewhere if you don't agree with their practices. Otherwise just get to the pre-order events very very early while the getting is good....problem solved!
