I reserved a Wii at FYE this evening, apparently I'm about the second person to pre-order one from that particular store.

Interesting story i just read:

Wii Line-up Harassment

Police turned up, people were harassed and accused of all sorts of things, simply for lining up for the Wii! This one comes from none other than the game developers at 'Hudson'. And wow, what a story!

Oh, y'all are going to hate me. I drove down to the local GameStop in Richmond, VA about 40 minutes before it opened only to find nobody there. I worried a bit that for some strange reason this store wasn't getting any, and contemplated driving across the road to an EB for a second before deciding to duck into a Target to pick up a few supplies. When I came back there was one guy, so I became number two in line. I think this particular store got around 6 - 8, judging from the list my name got written on.

It looked like everyone else pre-ordering there (all 4 of us) was buying the system for a child's Christmas present. I brought the only DS lite.

A few hours later my friend in Seattle text messaged me. Folks up there had been camped out all night long.

My experience was great,
The eb i go to is obscure and it gets no buisness.
I stroll in at 10:20, get in line. Im 8 outta 16 consoles. Thank you nintendo. Everyone in line had already been to like 3 other Eb's and gamestops and got rejected. Not Me!

There were only about 6 people at the EB games at about 9:30 when I got there, my step-brother is 3rd key there so he came with me to reserve his employee-held Wii. at about 9:45 the manager comes out, counts off 11 people(cutting off after two old women) and tells the rest to try the other 3 gamestops in town. at about 9:55 the manager comes out again to hand out lists of games available for reserve. at this points we had been talking with the other people in line for about half and hour, suddenly from the back of the line the two old ladies speak up "Hey, this isn't the line for flu shots?" and walk off. i'm told this happened down at the other end of the mall at the other GameStop as well, Silly old People.

The closest GameStop to me is in Somerset, KY, and I figured that I would be able to get one later in the day (hey, I had to go to work). Well, I was wrong. They were alloted 18 and all pre-orders had been taken shortly after they opened. As I was contemplating buying a gun so I could battle others on launch day, my friend calls and tells me Sam Goody's is taking pre-orders. So I go there. The lesson of this story: GameStop and EB Games aren't the only stores that will carry the Wii.

I had a quite lucky and funny experience.

My cousin, two friends and I planned to hang out around the mall an hour or two before it opened so we could rush to the gamestop inside. After waiting for what seemed like forever, we decided to go get something to eat at a nearby plaza. While we were walking we noticed there was a large line of about 15 piled around a store entrance. As soon as we noticed it was an EB-Games we totally forgot we were hungry and ran back to the mall to see if it opened in a worried frenzy.

The mall still didn't open for a while so my cousin and a friend went around to see if any other entrances were open. While I and my friend stood in place for another 10 minutes, the entrance sprang open and the two of us literally sprinted in trying to find the gamestop. Im sure the employees in JC Penny's thought we were crazy for trampling through the shoe aisles with wide eyes looking for an exit. We both weren't familiar with the set up of the store we were in and were having a tough time getting out. Once we did, the Gamestop was clearly in sight with my cousin and friend already waiting there. Apparently, there was another entrance near the foodcourt you could easily enter.

Well, there were about 6 other people waiting loosely around the gamestop. Our group stood right in front of the entrance. Eventually a manager walked in and explained the limited supply of 14 and to get in an orderly line and wait a while for him to set up.

I was 2nd in line behind my cousin and had to hold up the line to trade in 30 ps2 games so I would have enough for the deposit at least (I put 213$ in total towards the Wii, so I still need a bit more to buy the system). I felt bad for making everyone wait, but hey, that was the only way I could get money for the Wii and I got my reservation receipt right here looking at me. :).

I think all the Wii reservations sold about an hour after I got mine.

That's my story, I can't wait until launch!

Wilmington, DE

I arrived at 9:50am (couldn't arrive earlier due to work) and found 7 people waiting (since 7am). The store opened at 10:02am and there were three more people behind me. They announced they had 8 preorders. After a 20 minute wait, I got my mine and three people went home angry.

I was waiting for Wii all night. from 12:30AM to about 9:00AM. Man it was fun. we had all the PS3 and Wii pre-order peoples waiting around, eating Tim hortons dohnuts and hot chocolate, and playing hacky sack. We even had a tiny bonfire on the sidewalk. Good times. I made a lot of new friends too. I'm definitely going to go to the Wii Launch line. if it's anything like the pre-order line, it'll be a blast.
