Gimme: Mutant Storm Empire
The folks over at GamerTagRadio have uploaded a video of Mutant Storm Empire, a sequel to Xbox Live Arcade launch title Mutant Storm Reloaded. From this short video clip, it looks like the game's improved in several ways:
- Weapons look like they do real damage. MSR's weapons seemed quite anemic and boring at times.
- Rooms are stitched together. MSR broke up the action by loading each new room separately, making the game feel less immediate. The new game appears to be seamless, with no load times.
- Greater environmental variability. In this 80-second clip, we saw two surprises: the rolling wheels of doom and the pop-up mini-boss. If the rest of the game holds the same density of surprises, we'll be mighty pleased. Creativity like that freshens this well-exploited genre.
Now, what's the cheapest way to get a bucketload of points?

I loved the first game (even though some of the achievments are unbelievably tough to get) I'm really looking forward to this sequel.

I caught this the other day, and I have to admit I'm impressed. The first one was fun, but it to a while to get through the 99 levels. This one looks much better. I love the seamless rooms, and the pop out suprises add a new twist.

I played this game, @ digitallife, and i really liked it.
But i enjoyed NFS the most :)

NFS? Need for speed? as in need for speed carbon, i have the demo for that and it is the worst piece of crap i have ever played

um, can you say Super Smash TV? I am happy to see a newer version of that game as this looks to do just that. Only thing missing are the loads of cash and useless prizes. God, I want a 360... but only after I can afford and HDTV to utilize it. Until then, Wii baby. Wii.

I remember the first one on the PC, which seemed a lot more abstract than this. Should be cool though.

Man, I dunno if I'm wierd or something, but this game here looks incredibly boring. REALLY boring.
You move quickly and shoot a lot at a mass of minimal AI baddies with no special powers except sheer numbers. When I want that, I'll boot up Namco Museum and play Space Invaders or Galaxia or whatever.
