Remember all of those PS3 Xfire rumors that were floating around? Well, it looks like Xfire will indeed play a role in the PS3's emerging online future.
According to GameIndustry.biz, Xfire will "bring professional console teams and let anyone who wants to play with them to do so using Xfire technology. The same thing that you see on the PC, you'll see on the PS3. It's like playing a hole of golf with Tiger Woods. That's what it's like for gamers, they get to play for five or ten minutes with some of the best gamers in the world."
Now, playing Tiger Woods in an online PGA Tour 07 tournament would be just about the single best thing since sliced pizza. But, getting my butt kicked by the 16-year-olds of "Team Skull" in the latest PS3 shooter isn't that appealing. What am I missing? Additionally, Xfire has confirmed that they are working with about 6 developers to integrate their online middleware into upcoming PS3 games.
