Doesn't Shadowrun allow PC and Xbox360 players to play together?

Hmmm, maybe MGS games only will allow the players to connect cros-platform?

I imagine it is just the whole cheating thing. But why not have an opt-in option with the simple warning that gaming with PC users will most likely end up in frustration due to rampant cheaters? At least then we have the option. It isn't like we aren't capable of using our friends lists to play with people who aren't that pathetic.

Perhaps they want to wait for Live Anywhere to hit on Vista games so that such things would be more managable.

This is a sign that Value is gearing up to release products on the 360. Source is the engine for their products.

A great one, since Steam is one of the BEST anti-cheat technologies around. Most Source-powered games can be obtained through Steam (with the exception of Vampire: Bloodlines) and since you need to connect to Steam to "update" the game everytime you want to play multiplayer (on PC) it makes illegal modding almost impossible. Plus, there are the Valve anti-cheat servers.

Dunno if Live players are gonna connect to VAC servers or MS ones, but they are sure gonna be quite safe.

Great article.

Now where can I download the source to go with the XNA tools? Are there tutorials out there to show how that is done? Is Valve going to release a 'developer's version' like GarageGames Torque engine?

It would be interesting to see how many Joystiq readers like this type of article.

I LOVE THIS!!

I did a mod within Source, a challenge for a group of 3, and I'm so excited about this!!

This is great for developers, especially those comin into the industry.
