Oblivion gets Nine Knights, expansion set on Nov 21 [update 1]

No price has been announced. Knights of the Nine will be available for download through the usual channels (XBLM, OblivionDownloads.com) as well as a boxed expansion set (for PC only) that includes all the downloadable content (currently valued at $13.53, or $11.54 sans Horse Armor).
The PlayStation 3 version of Oblivion will come with Knights of the Nine. It was originally thought that this quest would be "exclusive," but we all know how finicky that word can be.
[Thanks, PaleGringo]
[Update 1: clarified boxed package is PC only. Sorry Xbox gamers!]

Knights of the Round?

It may sound dumb, but I might purchase the boxed expansion rather than download the content from XBLM that way I can pass it between some friends. Kinda like when my buddies pitched in for the Multiplayer Map Pack back in the day.

To me the key piece of missing news is whether or not this will be the first expansion to net you some extra acheivement points?
azesino @ Oct 17th 2006 11:02PM
Knights of the Round??? wasnt that the ultimate guardian from FFVII
crono141 @ Oct 17th 2006 11:04PM
The PlayStation 3 version of Oblivion will come with Knights of the Round
Don't you mean Knights of the Nine?
On a side note: Nova, shut the hell up
BB @ Oct 17th 2006 11:09PM
Wow...Bethesda really is milking Oblivion
Rabish12 @ Oct 17th 2006 11:14PM
@Nova: Judging by the facts that the 360 version doesn't quite fill a single-layer DVD, that all they're adding is a single guild, and that the PS3 can play games on DVDs, they don't have any reason to put it on a Blu-Ray Disc. The PS3 version'll be on a DVD, I guarantee it. Also, it's the exact same game, so if it "sux ballz" (ooh, look how XTREME and COOL you are, using X's and Z's instead of spelling the words right!) on 360 it "sux ballz" on both. Also, GTA4...
You know what? Nevermind. I'm too old to be bickering with children like you, I should know better by now.
Raynre @ Oct 17th 2006 11:17PM
Well, there goes any reason I had to keep my reserved launch PS3. eBay, here I come...
Also, ignore Nova, he's most likely jacking off in his mom's basement from all of the love you guys are showing him. Unfortunatly humanity occaisionally spawns such creatures...
azesino @ Oct 17th 2006 11:38PM
Nova you sound like a fanboy with no life who make no sense and everithing that comes out of his mouth is an incoherent piece of crap... even the most hard core sony fanboy knows that BR is being push just like the MD,BETA, and UMD, where push.Go and check your 360 disk of oblivion and you will see that theres like 3 gigs of space free of space on the disk.
john @ Oct 17th 2006 11:17PM
Your a f**king moron Nova.
If you want to be a Sony Fanboy, stop disgracing Sony with your outlandish, and ridiculous attacks on the 360 that simply make you look stupid, and anyone supporting your claims look stupid.
It also gives the generalization that Sony Fanboys are facking idiots, oh wait, perhaps its more than a little justified of a claim.
The only "good" gamer persay, is the one that recognizes the significance of all three consoles and can enjoy each one.
If you don't want to game on the 360 with GOW, Halo, Oblivion etc etc. Then I nor any fucking person on Joystiq could give a shit. Its your loss man.
Wii+PS3+360 = Gaming Bliss
Even Wii60 or WiiPS3 is good too if you dont want to stretch your wallet.
Moron Sonyfanboy + PS3 = Moron Sony Fanboy /w PS3

Man i cant wait for Oblivion on PS3 sure it will look the same as on 360 but with load times 10x as long it will give me time to get some homework done and with the 60 hours of FMV i can get my chores done around the house
Amos @ Oct 17th 2006 11:20PM
Nova's not even trying anymore...but the expansion sounds cool. I just finished logging near 80 hours on my laptop and have wrapped up everything (titles-wise) except the main storyline. Best get workin' on that, heh.

It will be on a bluray disc. Because Sony is mandating that ALL ps3 games, even those only a few gigs in size, are to be put on blu ray disc. That way they can pretend blu ray is required.
What is possible is that Bethesda will put it on a BD9. It's a Bluray disc, but it only holds 9 gigs...and is read with a red laser.
john @ Oct 17th 2006 11:23PM
Yea, my friends and I got to 95 hours in august alone.
My best friend moved away for the semester, he'll be back in December when we'll continue.
Im buying a 50" Samsung HLS5087 1080p DLP in christmas too.
Next year is gunna rock, I cant wait.
We havent started the main quest yet lol. Sides are soo much fun, we have to beat the mages quest line first before we continue.
john @ Oct 17th 2006 11:50PM
Isnt it more wise to compress a game and run it on a DVD than have it uncompressed on a BD.
Its the same game, no difference, just compressing is more conservative, requires a little more work.
In my oppinion, BD wasnt at all necessary this gen.
But its welcome none-the-less.
To say the 360 wont survive without a greater storage medium, is idiocy though.
Rabish12 @ Oct 17th 2006 11:29PM
@9: But I love troll-baiting! It's easily the most noble and entertaining of all online sports, watching as these idiots slowly deteriorate to the point where they stand as a shining example of human stupidity. Few things are more fun to watch.
@13: Are you sure? Sony makes some stupid decisions from time to time, but I find it hard to believe that they'd go so far as to disallow releasing games on DVD for a system that can support it and forcing their developers to opt for an expensive medium like Blu-Ray when it isn't necessary. That's the sort of stupid crap that took Nintendo off their high-chair, and it seems a little crazy that someone else would try to pull that sort of crap again.
I'm going to have to see some sort of proof before I can accept that, especially since Sony's allowed more than one format for games on their platforms before. It just doesn't make sense, even for them.
TwilightKnight @ Oct 17th 2006 11:34PM
I've spent over 130 hours on my first character alone and I'm not done finding everything. I'm STILL finding new crap to do, so why do I need small expansions to a game that I can't complete to begin with?
Plus the modding community for this game is much MUCH better then any official plugin Bethesda can produce. After using some of the 'required' mods, the mods that fix really bad gameplay decisions, I could never play this game without them. Community Oblivion mods make this game playable for me, something that I can't get on the console versions.
The keychain mod alone is better then this new expansion. Anybody who plays the PC versions knows what I am talking about. The Dark UI mod is also extremely useful.
I'll probaly pick it up a year from now when I actually got most of the game completed in the first place. Plus a new card...

#17:
That would be because Nova is, in fact, an ignorant fanboy. He's been spewing his crap for weeks. :)
john @ Oct 17th 2006 11:50PM
PS3 gets all the exclusives huh? Care to site a source on that claim you fool.
My 360 has never over heated, its not a launch unit.
When the PS3 launches and we hear of the same overheating problems, then I will fucking laugh my ass off at your idiot claims.
My whole PSwii, wii60 ideas was just to clarify theres more fun to be had with an open-minded approach to the industry.
I see the advantages of all three consoles, they all look great to me. Had PS3 been slightly cheaper I may have picked one up, maybe a year from now to use with my HDTV.
Though for you to be so closed minded and thing PS3 is some glorified GOD and the 360 and Wii are trash is what puts you above all others in regards to how completely stupid you are.
Consider this for a second, there is no single best in the gaming industry, every game, every system, and every developer has its own thing to offer.
The more you accept the fact, the more you will begin to enjoy the industry for what it is - A hub of entertainment in which all its sectors deserve attention, wether it comes from Sony, Microsoft or Nitendo, rather any publisher for that matter.
If its a good game, its worth playingm I dont care if its on the Colecovision, the system is nothing without its software.
sweethavok @ Oct 17th 2006 11:55PM
Nova calling you an idiot would be putting it mildly. For once can you get your head out off your ass and talk some sense with a litlle bit of logic and something other than your opinion to back up your claims.
jcmschwa @ Oct 18th 2006 12:34AM
i just wish they would release a "Knights who say Ni" expansion. Full of shrubbery collecting missions.
Sliced @ Oct 18th 2006 12:54AM
@ 21. Your image has which spelt wrong...
"Witch one gives you most value for your money?"
Vlad @ Oct 18th 2006 12:54AM
hey, it's still exclusive...for 4 days. really!
good for Bethesda. Bad for Sony. they better have their shit together by next holiday season, or I'm going to be pissed.
Scooby Doo @ Oct 18th 2006 7:26AM
This news kind of ticks me off, but only the part about the 'Expansion Pack'. I thought that Bethesda said there weren't going to be any initially. For the extra content we had to pay those 'micro' transactions. It was the only reason why I bought most of them, otherwise, I would have waited for the Expansion Pack.
