only 17 for me, but dead milkmen + toots and the maytals = AWESOME.
Judge @ Oct 17th 2006 7:08PM
So, basically, what this post is saying is that every game this fall is going to have that crappy Wolfmother song in it.
zombiejesus @ Oct 17th 2006 7:10PM
why does tony hawks soundtrack get shittier and shittier as the series moves on?
Neil @ Oct 17th 2006 7:12PM
18 for me and I can't believe Mogwai agreed to this game.
fawazr @ Oct 17th 2006 7:12PM
Mogwai FTW!
Proud to be a Wiitard @ Oct 17th 2006 7:17PM
I guess I should clear up the fact that out of the 17 I recognize, I have only heard 10, and only actively listen to 4 (dead milkmen, bad religion, toots and the maytals, and the ramones) although that is my favorite primus song.
JShock @ Oct 17th 2006 7:22PM
21 -- mostly because I'm a Bay Area hip-hop fan (hence Hieroglyphics, Living Legends, etc.)
Leper Messiah @ Apr 1st 2007 11:43AM
Ehhh
They do have slayer, but...
Downhill Jam has Different Worlds, the opening track from Iron Maiden's new kick-ass album.
Pince @ Oct 17th 2006 7:23PM
9 for me, and for half of those I could not identify a single song of theirs.
I havent been keepin' up with the times.
I guess I just don't listen to enough crappy music.
THPS2 soundtrack still brings back fond memories, and maybe it was just because the game was so awesome...but even songs I usually wouldnt like I liked on that soundtrack just because they fit so well.
PS- I hate that crappy wolfmother song.
"She's a woman, you know what i mean,
You better listen, listen to me
She's gonna set you free oh oh yeah"
Wow man...thats deep.
JShock @ Oct 17th 2006 7:25PM
Oh, and 'American Life' IS an awesome Primus song. I think I remember Primus being on the very first TH game, as well ("Jerry was a racecar driver")...
Tondog @ Oct 17th 2006 7:30PM
Bad Religion - :D
Gnarls Barkley - :D but that doesn't totally fit in THPS.
Hieroglyphics - :D :D :D :D
Jaylib - R.I.P. J. Dilla.
Kool and the Gang - WTF? That's more confusing than Johnny Cash being in THUG2.
Primus FTW!!!!!! They had the best song in the first game, and American Life is a great song as well.
The Ramones - Good as always.
Slayer - HELL YEAH!!
The Cure - :D :D
Transplants - Chopped and screwed by Paul Wall?
Good lineup, but it doesn't come close to the perfection that was THPS 1, 2, and 3's soundtracks.

18/56
i'm an uber hipster :-D
this soundtrack is awesome-- plenty of big names. Tony Hawk games always have excellent soundtracks, and Project 8 looks to be no exception.
One question though: there's a PS2 version, but no X-Box version? Does the original 'box get no love anymore?
The Rev @ Oct 17th 2006 7:57PM
screw this game, no god damn avenged sevenfold
Psyclerk @ Oct 17th 2006 7:58PM
Is that Jeff Goldblum on the cover?
Lixie @ Oct 17th 2006 8:19PM
Why the **** must every game have "Woman" by Wolfmother?
I must be the only person on Earth who thinks it's a horrible song, because it's ****ing everywhere.
The gods have smote me.

THPS3 soundtrack FTW!!!!

18. The TH soundtracks usually have a lot of indie hip-hop and techno, hence the reason I don't know more. But in agreement with everyone else, that Mogwai is an incredibly bizarre choice. Though thumbs up for the selection.
PuniPuniSakura @ Oct 17th 2006 8:45PM
STIGMATA :D
_habit_ @ Oct 17th 2006 8:53PM
Kasabian - Club Foot
And thats the only band I recognize, and oddly enough they're tied for favorite band of mine with... well numerous other bands >_>.
Though they should have gone with a better Kasabian song like "Empire", "Shoot the Runner" or "Processed Beats"
754boy @ Oct 17th 2006 9:02PM
I'm with #9.....THPS2 soundtrack was the best IMO
iEnigma @ Oct 17th 2006 9:00PM
NIN + Bad Religion + Kool And The Gang
This may just be the best game soundtrack yet!
Also, NIN is releasing a concert in DVD, HD-DVD and Blu-Ray. Pimp x3.
Oh yeah, I only got 13. Damn.
Tucker @ Oct 17th 2006 9:06PM
Sweet, that's actually a hell of a soundtrack with a surprising amount of depth. I think a lot of you guys really need to get out and listen to some more music, that's quite a broad range there.
I might be somewhat excited for a TH game for a change.
yuppy @ Oct 17th 2006 11:01PM
13,,, well its a start
tora @ Oct 17th 2006 11:04PM
What about Kick Push by Lupe Fiasco!!
its an awsome song about skateboarding
Scott @ Oct 17th 2006 11:44PM
18.
+44 FTW.
Grasshapa @ Oct 17th 2006 11:35PM
22 for me. It's a very eclectic mix and I like it. I am surprised to see The Sword and the "Iron Swan"...such an awesome song!
TehDestroyer @ Oct 18th 2006 12:50AM
I've heard of 20 of the songs and actively listen to none of them. Well except Slayer, The Cure, and The Ramones but those are givens.
Intellectualdiot @ Oct 18th 2006 1:04AM
I had COMPLETELY overlooked "Iron Swan" until I inadvertenly glanced up and read comment #26... I'm absolutely thrilled to see that "The Sword" is getting success through such unorthodox venues. (This, Guitar Hero II... In fact, it's because of the latter that I know of the band.) I adore this band. Finally, an enjoyable modern metal band!
I was about to decry the Primus song chosen, but after reconsideration, I decided that it's still one of my favorite of their songs regardless.
I'm ABSOLUTELY SICK of hearing "Woman", and I love Wolfmother. Is there a particular reason (besides familiarity) that THIS is the song that is frequently licensed? I was quite vociferous about wanting Wolfmother in GHII since I thought that "Colossal" was a given, but it turns out I got Woman instead... Fuck.
"Angel of Death"? You mean one of the greatest metal songs of all time is in this game? Oh that's funny, I thought Slayer wasn't allowing their music to be licensed anymore, how else would I possibly explain its ABSENCE FROM GH2? GARRRRR! That is absolutely the biggest omission from the final GH setlist in my opinion, (well, from a logical standpoint - illogically, I would have highly desired some King Crimson, but I didn't dare believe it was possible), and I can't help but wonder what went wrong. I suppose I'll never know... either way, good job to Neversoft.
One last thing... MARCH. OF. THE. PIGS. You missed this one, Neversoft.
Tux @ Oct 18th 2006 1:06AM
Wow, shit soundtrack and it comes out next month and theres still not any info about it.
* Bad Religion - "Social Suicide"
* Gnarls Barkley – "Gone Daddy Gone"
* Joy Division – "Interzone"
* Primus – "American Life"
* The Ramones – "I Wanna Live"
* Slayer – "Angel of Death"
* The Cure – "Plastic Passion"
Most of these bands Ive never even heard of. Just have to put on my Dir en grey mix again.
empfeix @ Oct 18th 2006 1:13AM
damian marley is good stuff - although it seems out of place in a tony hawk game
C. Baines @ Oct 18th 2006 2:59AM

Embassy @ Oct 18th 2006 3:03AM

xGabrielx @ Oct 18th 2006 4:46AM
Whoa, whoa, whoa. Die Young (TX)? That sticks out like a sore, fucking awesome thumb.
Well, for anyone like me who's been whining that the Tony Hawk games just don't have enough good hardcore.
Chris. @ Oct 18th 2006 4:48AM
Huzzah. 22.
Also, Kasabian are brilliant. and that Wolfmother song is great.
Chris. @ Oct 18th 2006 4:48AM

ATLANTIS - TO INTERZONE.
it would appear that im painfully hip.
Alisha Karabinus @ Oct 18th 2006 4:50AM
Dammit! I keep waiting to see "Tony's Theme" by the Pixies show up on one of these.
Seb @ Oct 19th 2006 5:52AM
I know 21. Its actually Klaus Grabke, used to be in a band called Thumb and was a proliffic skater. I am actually looking forward to this now. Good soundtrack.
Sam Goldman @ Oct 18th 2006 8:44AM
22 for me. Any soundtrack that has Joy Division in it is an automatic winner in my book.
Paul Gale @ Oct 18th 2006 10:10AM
I'm not immediately recognizing most of the songs on this list, but hopefully the majority are good. Previous Tony Hawk games have left me very happy when it came to the soundtrack, especially parts 1 and 3. Tony Hawk's Project 8 already looks nice; now I just need it to sound nice, have good online multiplayer, and some sweet parks.

31... I have to wonder what 8 bands you know... There are lots of big titles included.
Dylan @ Oct 18th 2006 10:39AM
I have 17, but I'm really excited that Living Legends is going to be in there
Shipley @ Oct 18th 2006 11:37AM
sheesh, game snobs are bad, music snobs are worse... but game music snobs? this is a new level... Just let me enjoy the tunes for my game.

20, You have only heard of Kasabian??? But not the Ramones!!! What sort of bizarro indie underground shelter do you live in?
