LOL @ the Evil Dead 2 reference. I wonder if Viva Pokemonata won't simply collapse from the sheer effor of trying to become a popular franchise.

I'm buying it for my wife. She's a big player of Harvest Moon/Animal Crossing games, and started salivating the moment she saw it. It's really going to complicate burning through Tony Hawk Project 8, but we do what we must for love.

from what I've seen of the show... it's basically a sitcom... I can almost hear the canned laughter in the back of my mind.

I'm going to be buying Viva Pinata for myself. I've never been disappointed by anything that Rare has made in the past -- they only put out high quality games. I don't care what people say about Conker, Kameo, and PDZ -- while they may not be genre defining, they are artisticly beautiful games easily half a generation before their respective times.

Good work J. Thanks for that.

I've been watching the show and find it really entertaining. Even clever sometimes. Certainly smarter than Bratz or Kirby.
It's definitely gotten me interested in what the game might turn out to be.

I plan on getting VP when it comes out. I'm a little skeeved on the heavy marketing and heavy-handed branding of it, but then I remember that The Mario Brothers Power Hour, The Wizard, and my Mario sweatshirt didn't take anything away from Super Mario 3.

My daughter really wants this one, but I need to check it out more before I go for it. Not sure I want yet another obsession when I just finally got her off of Pokemon.

It will be interesting to see if this takes off. It is really hard to make this sort of thing intentionally right out of the chute. Even Pokemon too a long time to build up steam and catch on.

Joe Smith - Well from what I've seen from the shows that were uploaded to xbox live, it doesn't seem to have that "GOTTA CATCH EM ALL" appeal. Like I said, as far as format goes, the show seem to basically be a sitcom.

The only thing I'd caution about is the online feature. I have a 13 year old sister who is TITANICALLY addicted to runescape for that very reason, and my understanding is that sharing and showing off your 'garden' online is going to be a major element.

so just, heads up.

I will buy it for myself. But it's the only game my girlfriend seems to be interested in . . . .. so finally we'll share some time in front of the 360 :)

The difference is that those things came out because the games were so great. What we've got here is a preemptive strike by the marketing people who _swear_ the game's terrific.

i'm buying it for myself. Damn right!

I know it's random, but I'm feeling the game's color palette. For once, it's not dark, dim or realistic colors.. and it kinda brings me back to my good ol' DreamCast days... *pets his DC*
