I also read this at another gamingsite, and they stated that it was about "Tiotusen" - Ten Thousand Units that've been sold out in 5 mins. Pretty amazing.

The site is www.gamereactor.se (only in Swedish)

Hes is a direct Link to the news: http://www.gamereactor.se/nyheter/8759/Xbox+360+sluts%E5ld+i+Japan/

I just hope that this game lives up to expectations, actually, I hope it is better than expected as this will really give life to the 360 in Japan. If this game bombs, then the 360 might as well pull outta Japan after a broken promise this big. One can only hope the 360 can succeed in Japan.

That blog has just as much information as you have. He just says that it was "some online store" and doesn't mention how many.

I can't wait for Blue Dragon; it can be all but absolutely assured that this and Lost Odyssey will be the type of high-calibur RPGs that many thought Microsoft's hardware to ever have. That said, though I want to believe this could turn the tide in Japan, it's highly unlikely. Sure, it may pull over a hundred thousand or so extra gamers onto the 360 train, but that number is not even close to what would be necessary for the Xbox to elevate out of niche status and be a contender in Japan, regardless of how badly Sony mucks up their entire system.

The only change in the Japanese gaming landscape will occur if and only if the PS3 fails and the Wii picks up the slack, flip-flopping Sony and Nintendo's respective marketshares.

Yup I can see both Lost Odyssy and Blue Dragon helping to push sales of the 360 in both Japan and the US (where good RPGs are also well received), but yeah, it's not going to topple Sony or really do anything groundbreaking.

However I can't see them pulling out of that market either. There's a huge untapped potential for MS there, and if these games franchise well and with another couple of good 360 exclusive titles, you might see them making inroads into a traditionally very difficult market (for any non-Japanese companies) in a couple of years.

strangely as much as i like RPGS... i care very little for blue dragon... lost odyssey looks good though, but blue dragon... not so much.

I have no idea why i feel that way though...*shrugs* maybe in time they'll convert me.... maybe

If xbox 360 starts selling like hotcakes in japan then it can almost beat ps3 in 2 regions and split japan with nintendo because of the only 100,000 ps3s there
