Next-Gen sure loves those top-50 lists. If it can be arranged numerically into a number divisible by 50, then watch out! They've shoved console games, handheld games, women (!), books, and now journalists into the same tiny, traffic-inducing box. Selecting the "top" 50 gaming journalists is a thankless task, and bound to earn the list's composer plenty of icy glares from skimmed over potentials at the next industry event. Who did make it: Joystiq favorites like Wired's Clive Thompson, MTV News' Stephen Totilo, Game Politics' Dennis McCauley, and The Escapist's Julianne Greer.Who didn't make it ... before you quickly scan all twelve pages of the list, and begin hammering out an angry email condemning them for not listing the humble contributors to this blog, we'd encourage you to take a second look at the bottom of page one. Want to let Joystiq blogger -- and nascent Next-Gen list compiler -- Kyle Orland know how you feel? Leave a comment below and we'll be sure he gets it this afternoon when we let him out of the cellar.
Are you a games journo feeling slighted? Read the editor-in-chief's postscript "Why Aren't I On This List." We're going to guess "you're a big deal in the Czech Republic. Unfortunately, the list is U.S-centric," right?
[Thanks, Stan G.]
