Reason 1 isn't really that good a reason. The others are definitely right on, most especially number 3.

I'm always in a big contradiction...

1) I only accept the newest tech, so when a digicam pops out, I only love the features that goes with that one.

2) I only accept paying prices under 200 euros/200 dollars (*) (for a "home" console). And 150$ for a portable one.

Games and accessories are also another story.

(*) yes: 1$ = 1eur. That's the price exchange we get here in europe, for tech products. -don't understand-

My default position is that I'm cheap. There are still plenty of old games out there I can pick up on the cheap and enjoy. Here's how the big three are doing at overcoming my cheapness with their shiny new toys.

PS3
"Grade A Bullshit" pricing from a company that can't go two weeks without saying something that makes me doubt they know what they're doing.

360
No library I care about. (Oblivion and GRAW are better on PC, and Saint's Row and Dead Rising are diverting, but nowhere near killer apps.) We'll see if they can overcome that this holiday season.

Wii
I'd like to reward Nintendo for going out on a limb here, the same way I try to seek out and buy indie games. Plus it's friggin' Miyamoto. It's not exactly a longshot bet.

Hoping to get a Wii with Zelda at launch, not worried about any other titles at the mo. With no Mario at launch, if there was no Zelda either, I wouldn't be buying a Wii on its release.

As for XBox360 and PS3, I'll think about buying one of them when the new GTA game comes out next year. What console of the two I get will be determined by how good the version of GTA is on either console.

In the meantime, loads of current gen gaming still to do.

Xbox - Scarface
PS2 - Canis Canem Edit
DS - Super Mario Brothers

I'll get the Wii now because I'll be married next year and the Mrs. would never let me spend $300 on video games. Spend the money while you can!

Blah, if you pay now full price or 12 months later... no difference.

If you really want to save $$$ then you have to wait for the first significant hardware price drop (usually in the middle of the life time, after 2 or 3 years).
