Exclusive PS3, 360, and Wii games compared
Hype unique controls, superior online play, and massive disc storage all you want; Siliconera reminds us that it's all about the games when selling a system by comparing and numbering exclusive titles per next-generation console. From the article: "Another arguable point is that all of the Wii's titles are 'gameplay exclusive.' Since the Wii has a its own control scheme, Call of Duty 3 is going to play quite differently on the Wii than it is on the Xbox 360 or Playstation 3. Will this cause gamers to purchase two versions of the same game? "The investigatory-journalism notes that the Xbox 360 offers 48 exclusive games with the help of a one-year head start (48% of which are first-party), the PS3 has a total of 35 games (51% of which are first-party), and Wii represents with 40 titles (35% of which are first-party). I think the 360 has the best exclusive games by far.
JodyAnthony @ Oct 19th 2006 3:26PM
but the only nintendo games are mario and zelda, i thought
I love how people say that all nintendo has is first party, and percentagewise, they have the LEAST amount of first party games coming.

B33: I like your list, but I know for a fact LA Noire is NOT exclusive to the PS3 so I have to question your entire list.
crono141 @ Oct 19th 2006 3:37PM
B33, I wasn't aware KH3 had even been announced, much less confirmed for PS3 exclusively.
Neil @ Oct 19th 2006 3:38PM
Why wasn't Dreamcast included? Hmm.
Pierce @ Oct 19th 2006 3:39PM
B33 never claimed he knew what he was talking about. he just wanted to get in his gamer cry of injustice at seeing ps3 not as rosy against the other platforms as he would like it to be.

"B33: I like your list, but I know for a fact LA Noire is NOT exclusive to the PS3 so I have to question your entire list."
I put LA Noire on there because nothing has been said about other console releases. All that was mentioned was the PS3 version. For now, it's an exclusive... That might change though.
Miniboss @ Oct 19th 2006 3:40PM
@ 2.
I don't think any "exclusive list" should have "unconfirmed" titles on it. You might be able to assume that some of those games are coming out, but we all know that Shadow of the Colossus 2 isn't happening. I'm sure it'll be a new franchise... and it'll be four to five years from now.
FF7 isn't happening either. No matter how much I want it... :(
Also Kingdom Hearts 3 still hasn't been confirmed for the PS3. Yes, you could deduce from the past that this would be the case, but Square Enix has been a little less... pro-Sony lately...
B33 @ Oct 19th 2006 3:41PM
"B33, I wasn't aware KH3 had even been announced, much less confirmed for PS3 exclusively."
The creator of the series talked about what he wanted to do with the next game and basically confirmed KH3... Plus the sales alone warrant a sequel... And I don't think Square would release KH3 on any other system if the previous two are Playstation exclusives.

... off topic, .. but, the GC component cables arent compatible with Wii...and they're only availble online.
http://wii.ign.com/articles/740/740296p1.html
October 19, 2006 - Nintendo last month revealed that its new Wii home console would ship with composite cables for standard resolution televisions. However, the company did not specify whether or not high-definition TV owners would be able to separately purchase Wii component cables to run games in progressive-scan, and hence we've been bombarded with a steady flow of questions from concerned readers.
Well, today you can finally stop flooding our e-mail boxes because Nintendo of America has commented on the subject and yes, your component cables are on the way.
A spokesperson for the company told IGN Wii this morning that the Wii component cables would be available for purchase with the launch of the console in November. The cables will cost $29.99 and will only be available through online retail outlets, including Nintendo's store, Best Buy, Circuit City and EB Games.
If you already own GameCube component cables, you're out of luck because these are not compatible with the Wii console.
Why Nintendo is again only selling its component cables via online retailers -- as it did with GameCube -- is a mystery, but at least the solution will be available immediately.
Nearly all of the 30 or so Wii launch window games run in 480p and 16:9 modes.

I highly doubt that Namco will make the mistake again of putting a Soul Calibur sequel on one system exclusively.
Koekoenutt @ Oct 19th 2006 3:44PM
@B33
I know your intentions were good, but listing out a whole bunch of "unconfirmed" and undecided titles for the PS3, saying they were all exclusive, is really how rumors start. I understand you wanted to make the list as big as possible, but lets try to keep things simple and what we know as 100% true. Especially how developers are so quick to transfer games to other systems now a days.
dsub @ Oct 19th 2006 3:55PM
yea, wasn't there a story just a while back in which someone from square confirmed that they have no idea what platform Kingdom Hearts 3 is coming to?
Also, Ninja Gaiden Sigma is a remake of an XBOX game, so it's not reall "exclusive" it has exclusive content in that there are new missions and storylines, but the game itself is essentially a remake of Ninja Gaiden Black.
Regardless, Exclusives don't really matter as much this time around. Mostly because it's getting to the point where pretty much every huge system selling game has game cross-platform, such as RE5 and GTA4. Sure, each has it's own big name titles, but for the most part for every big exclusive that one console has, it can be countered by another title on another console. With the sales numbers weighing in at 360's favor for at least the first two years that all three are on the market, it's a safe assumption that alot of titles will end up being multiplatform, or at least timed exclusives.
B33 @ Oct 19th 2006 3:45PM
"I don't think Square would release Final Fantasy VII on any other system [than Nintendo's] if the previous six are PlayStation exclusives...
Oh wait..."
???
How does that combat anything I said?
Rabish12 @ Oct 19th 2006 3:47PM
@B33: fl0w isn't exclusive, it's been available on PCs for quite some time now. Ninja Gaiden Sigma isn't technically exclusive, since it's a remake of an Xbox game. Also, a number of the "exclusives" on your list aren't confirmed exclusives (you even put "might not be an exclusive" next to Dreamers, and yet still listed that game). You also included games that may not even exist, such as KHIII, and games that could easily end up on other platforms, such as MGS4 (every other Metal Gear game except MGS3 and the Ac!d titles has been multiplatform, and Kojima admitted quite some time ago that the videos he had been showing of the game could probably run on an Xbox 360, so there's a fair chance of a port there).
If you're going to try and correct a list, you should at least try to avoid padding it.
"And I don't think Square would release KH3 on any other system if the previous two are Playstation exclusives."
Then you don't know much about Square's history.

In any case, brand loyalty with publishers is non-existant. A lot of companies claim it, but more often than not, multi-platform is better for them. Even Square-Enix has realized this lately.

The flOw on the PS3 is being modeled with the PS3's controller and it'll have better graphics and more options and levels. It's basically a sequel to flOw. Which makes it a exclusive, since it'll still be differen't from the free version... And the PS3 version of Ninja Gaiden will be different then the Xbox version. And Kojima has already stated in interviews that Metal Gear Solid 4 is a PS3 exclusive and will never come to the 360. He did say he is interested in making other games for the 360 and Wii. But again confirmed that MGS 4 will never see the day of light on any other console. Don't get your hopes up for a 360 release. KH3 does exist though. The director of the first two already stated that there will be a 3rd one, after FF Versus...

Wow B33, way to make your self look like a bad Sony Fanboy.
First: Kingdom Hearts 3 has not even been confirmed to be in development let alone on the PS3. Kingdom Hearts 3 could easily jump over to the Wii.
Second: Ninja Gaiden Sigma is just Ninja Gaiden from the Xbox, its not a new game, its a port since the PS2 was so underpowered it couldn't handle the game and its not Exclusive to the PS3.
Third: Soul Caliber IV is Not Exclusive, Namco has already confirmed that Soul Caliber IV will be multiconsole.
Fourth: Final Fantasy VII WILL NEVER HAPPEN!
Fifth: Don't Include Untitled or Unconfirmed games, It just makes you Sony Fanboys look bad. When you do that it says that Your so desperate for games that your willing to pull fake titles out of the air.
If they wanted to make the PS3 look really bad they could have included all the PC ports the Xbox360 has and just include all the Wii games since they are pretty much a different game compared to the PS3 and 360 versions.

Yeah, I'm a Sony fanboy. That must be why I plan on buying all the consoles... Before you start pointing fingers and saying BS, think.
First: Yes it has. The director confirmed it. Get over it, it's coming.
Second: We won't know for sure until we play the game.
Third: When did Namco confirm this?
Fourth: That's why it's on the unconfirmed list.
Fifth: How is posting a untitled game bad? It exists. It's name just hasn't been revealed yet. And so I made a mistake and posted unconfirmed games with the list. It's not that big of a deal, and it doesn't say that I'm a "Sony fanboy".
Miniboss @ Oct 19th 2006 4:02PM
"He did say he is interested in making other games for the 360 and Wii."
We should count those non-existant games into the list as well, since they're, you know, unconfirmed. ;)
Chronos_777 @ Oct 19th 2006 4:04PM
You know, there is another thing that distinguishes the systems as far as which system I will buy a game on: vibration. Personally, I think that that will make a big difference in whether I want to buy a game on PS3 or 360. Games like Call of Duty 3 I will definitely get on the 360 because of the vibration ability. If I want to play that game with motion sensitive controls, I will go with the Wii, and still get vibration. Most likely I will get both the Wii and 360 versions. When the price comes down for the PS3 version, I will probably pick it up to compare experiences, but I think that the 360 vibration will make a difference. This also brings up a question I have been wondering about with regards to backwards compatability on the PS3, what will happen with games that rely on vibration? Will Sony sell an adapter to allow you to use your old Dual Shock 2?
Also, B33, they probably didn't list most of your titles because they haven't been announced as exclusives. Just because a company has been putting games on one console for a while, that can change in a heartbeat. Squaresoft only made games for Nintendo systems for two generations, everyone expected that the Nintendo 64 would get the next Final Fantasy (at least when It was still being called Ultra 64), but ultimately they decided to go with Playstation. Resident Evil games were mainly on the Playstation (some Sega) but the next generation saw them as basically exclusives of Gamecube. The only games on your list that could be considered exclusives, are the Sony made games. Even MGS has seen the light of day on other systems, so there is the possibility that that one could change, though it is pretty doubtful with Kojima even mentioning the Cell processor in an early trailer.
B33 @ Oct 19th 2006 4:06PM

"The flOw on the PS3 is being modeled with the PS3's controller and it'll have better graphics and more options and levels. It's basically a sequel to flOw. Which makes it a exclusive, since it'll still be differen't from the free version..."
New controls and graphics don't make it an entirely different game, and after having played fl0w I can tell you that adding levels wouldn't make it a different game either. All of the levels are essentially the same thing to begin with.
Claiming that as an exclusive would be like claiming Oblivion as an exclusive on the PS3 because it comes with Knights of the Nine and no other extra content, when the game is already available on two other platforms.
"And the PS3 version of Ninja Gaiden will be different then the Xbox version."
It will feature new stages, new weapons, a new playable character, that sort of thing. It's still the same game. Sigma is to Ninja Gaiden Black as Ninja Gaiden Black is to original Xbox Ninja Gaiden, and that's not enough for me to see it as an exclusive.
"And Kojima has already stated in interviews that Metal Gear Solid 4 is a PS3 exclusive and will never come to the 360. He did say he is interested in making other games for the 360 and Wii. But again confirmed that MGS 4 will never see the day of light on any other console. Don't get your hopes up for a 360 release."
Actually, I don't think he has. However, if he has stated that it will never be available on any other platform, feel free to toss in a quote or something and I'll gladly drop the point.
"KH3 does exist though. The director of the first two already stated that there will be a 3rd one, after FF Versus..."
The creator's said that he's working on a plot and wants to create it, but it has yet to be officially confirmed by either Disney or Square-Enix. That means that it might not happen. If either SE or Disney decides that they don't want to participate in the series anymore, it doesn't really matter what he's been planning or what he's got written out because it won't happen.
Of course, that's still unlikely, but then even if it does happen there's a fair enough chance that it'll either end up on the PS2 (where they already have a massive market and fanbase guaranteed, as opposed to the PS3 where they may or may not have as large of a market) or will go multiplatform (Square-Enix seems to be into that sort of thing nowadays).
Inferno @ Oct 19th 2006 4:07PM
Well Crono, that would be because he basically is assuming all games that were exclusive on PS2 will be on PS3. But B33, where did you come up with this list of yours? I am curious, cause it is pretty extensive. I have to say though, the lists of games "coming to XXX console" are never 100%. There are games pictured on the back of the original Xbox that never were released. Announced games are fine, but actual produced games are very different. And as we all know, saying XXX game coming out in Fall 2006 can easily become TBD or just 2007.
Koekoenutt @ Oct 19th 2006 4:11PM

The following URL confirms that MGS 4 is a PS3 exclusive: http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/adventure/metalgearsolid4/news.html?sid=6127573
And I can see the points made on flOw and Ninja Gaiden Sigma not being a exclusive...
Storm9 @ Oct 19th 2006 4:16PM
The reason FF7 went to PSX was cuz the 64 catrages did not have enough space to hold the cutscences and stuff from the game. Even on PSX it took 3 CD's(700mb x 3Cds).
And FF8 FF9 were 4 disks i believe.
FF13 and Kingdom Hearts 3 will have HD cutscences a normal DVD cannot hold that much info. So S-E naturally will probably use Blue Ray.
Also they will probably use 1080p since they are crazies for Picture Quality. Hence 360 is out.
stiill @ Oct 19th 2006 5:07PM

B33, your list still includes Sigma, which (again) is a remake and is basically already available on 360. Also, I've done some research and found some other things wrong with your list, including (and ignoring titles that may or may not be exclusive):
ZOE3 hasn't been officially confirmed
Unknown Realms and Monster Kingdom are two titles for the same game
WarDevil: Enigma isn't exclusive, it's coming to the 360
Chronos_777 @ Oct 19th 2006 4:25PM
Kojima's quote from Gamespot:
"Metal Gear Solid 4 is only scheduled for release on the PlayStation 3 at the current time," he told the Japanese game magazine. "Of course we could port it to other consoles, but doing so would require additional staff and research and development costs. If I were to make games for the Xbox 360 or the [Nintendo] Revolution, I'd rather create original titles that match each console's audience, instead of the Metal Gear Solid series."
He never says that it won't see the light of day, just that he would rather work on other titles and that it would take a lot of work. Plans can change, and often do in the video game world. I think we all remember when everyone thought that Assasin's creed was an exclusive. Don't count it out until he's made MGS 5.
Besides, MGS 4 and others on your list were included in the original article, so why don't you edit your list again to only include games that the site didn't list?

What supposed crafty method did I use? All I did was go through IGN, Gamespot, and 1up to see which games are PS3 exclusives. I'm going mainly by them. It's not like I added games I know will be on another console.
"He never says that it won't see the light of day, just that he would rather work on other titles and that it would take a lot of work. Plans can change, and often do in the video game world. Plans are not changing. MGS4 is a PS3 exclusive. That's it. No exceptions. And MGS4 is the last game in the Metal Gear Solid series(for now).
