I really hope they phase out the 20 gig and replace that sku with the 100 gig. 100 bucks for a 100 gig sounds about right to me. Who wants to pay 200 plus for that.

They've only scratched the surface thus far. As faster broadband reaches more homes the market potential for download sales grows.

Things like episodic content can eat the gigabytes up just fine. Not everyone will need all of that storage, so the smaller drive will continue to be offered. But making it hard for people to buy your product for lack of disc space is a very bad policy.

Well, the 256MB memory card is DEFINITELY real - we've known about that for quite some time.

IF this was a photoshopped slide - and I'm looking at the original pictures, which is a long download - then it appears to have been done prior to actually putting the slide in the projector. These photos look fairly legit.

Now - the console DevKits DID have 60GB HDs on them - that's also real. (I know - I played one.) The reason behind that was because all the XNA code, plus a bunch of debugging tools, several 3D modeling programs, and oh, yeah, the full game since there were no DVD's of the games actually IN the systems at that time had to be on the HD. We asked then if there were plans to come out with a larger HD - and remember, this is LAST year pre-launch - and the answer was that there were a lot of things in the planning phase - it was just a matter of which ideas were going to actually have to be brought to fruition.

Personally, I have about 9GB free on my HD at this point. I delete demos fairly often - the save game files aren't the problem, it's the music I've ported over to listen to that takes up so much room - that, and the games I've downloaded from XBLA. But with the ability to download larger and larger games and add-ons, I could see this (the 100GB drive) becoming a reality fairly soon.

They haven't said anything to us yet - we'll just have to wait and see (which is about par for the course).

Console launches are becoming unbearable. I can't wait until mid 2008 when people finally just shut up about the PS3 vs. the 360 and talk about the games.

Is it really necessary to have a 100GB harddrive on a home console? All i need is my wii's 256mb, plus the added 6k i its controller.

Seriously, my desktop only has a 60gb harddrive, and it suits me fine. I couldnt imagine having an ipod, or a console havin more memory than my computer. 0_o

Draco makes a good point. What does the 360 need 100 gigs for? all the demos and arcade games combined probably don't add up to that. (don't quote me) it makes me think microsoft may have something to show us in the near future..

Greetings,

Despite the current rumors and speculation about a 100GB HDD; currently there are no plans for a future release of a bigger HDD. 20GB is enough and has always been the company policy to stick to those specs.

We appreciate gamer's devotions to demos and such memorabilia, but such content as game demos are only for a limited time and the ULA license provides that such content be deleted after 48 hours. Such period would provide sufficient time to have the content played and deleted.

In the meantime our 20GB should be sufficient for years to come in gaming. Please disregard such rumors on the internets as they are totally non-factual and false.

Thank you for your support
Tom, J

I too agree that the core should get the 20 gig hd and the premium get the 100 gig, but I for the price to remain the same seems unlikely to mee. If they do teh change I would have the core and the premium priced at $50 over what they currently sell each.

Core 360 with 20 gig hd = $350
Premium 360 with 100 gig hd = $450

As far as the memory units , I think that the 64 MB is overpriced, the price should come down before the 256 MB comes out, I dont want to pay $80 or so for the memory unit. ($80 is just a guess, since I know no price has been announced)
