Shouldn't Untold Legends be considered first party? SOE isn't THAT far removed structurally from the rest of sony, are they?

Resistance seems like a must have. The rest of the worthwhile titles can be played elsewhere.

I'm glad to be holding out for a later PS3 purchase; this launch seems about as lackluster as all the others.

I am not impressed at all.

Waiting a least a year to buy the system is definitely the best option.

Oh come on. I'm sure you bolded that just to get us arguing, didn't you. Ah well. Frankly, it isn't THAT weak, but it depends greatly on how many of those exclusive titles end up as AAA, because out of the current Wii lineup, only Zelda is definately AAA.

I love how the fanboys in these comments are already saying it sucks. I mean these are the titles that were expected for launch months ago what exactly makes them sucky now? :p

Nothing feels better than buying a new system and playing a kickass game.

Nothing feels worse than buying a system and playing games on one of your old systems because there are no good games for the new one.

Quite a few good/promising games (even if they are already on other systems)....Oblivion, Rainbow Six Vegas, Marvel: UA, CoD3...the exclusives aren't that great, but that's nice that they get some pretty good multiplatform games from day 1. Coulda been a lot worse really.

Us 360 owners had to wait (and stil waiting) for some of those for a little while....can't wait to play Marvel: UA next week....that game looks nice.

Exclusives:

* Resistance: Fall of Man
* NBA 07 (1080p)
* Genji: Days of the Blade
* Full Auto 2 (Sega)
* Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire (Namco Bandai)
* Ridge Racer 7 (Namco Bandai)
* Untold Legends Dark Kingdom (SOE)

You know, when these titles come out, maybe something will shock us all, but I don't see anything that compels a $600 system investment here.

For right now, I think Sony is selling through to people who are desperate for a cheaper Blu-Ray player.
This means the system will initially have a lower attach rate than the 360 or the Wii.

I don't know much about Resistance so I can't comment on that. But I do know that you sound exactly like a fanboy (abeit slightly more polite than usual) with that sentence. You might want to rephrase it with something like:

Resistance has undeniably better graphics than what is shown on any other console, so unless you can being out the charts to show otherwise, don't bother posting or you will look like a fool. (note: not my opinion, I already said I don't know much about Resistance)

Sonic is the only interesting title on that list for me, and thats not exactly compelling me to buy a PS3 at launch.

I'll probably go with my "Wait 6-12 months for the PS3" plan.

I had hoped to get a Wii at launch though (Zelda and Red Steel :D), but those racist bastards at Nintendo aren't releasing it in black for who knows how long, and I'm sort-of paitent and will wait for it (I'm actually white if anyone might think otherwise from my comment right durr, but I dislike white electronics; black or invisible, FTW!).

ZOMFG, I'm not buying any Next Gen system this year, they all suck. Wii looks to be the most promising though, so I might buy it after a couple months.

Cant believe how Computer > Console FOR LIFE.

Feel sorry for anyone who buys PS3 and can actually convince himself that it was worth it (rich people excluded).

Cant wait for Team Fortress II.

And I'm glad I'm not paying $250+ for...
"Legend of Zelda/Mario rehash 8"
"Red Steel: tilt your handlike a real gangster! (after 8 second delay)"
"Another shitty Ubisoft game no one but Wii fanboys care about."

Ninty fanboys stick with 5 year old hardware and 12-year old targeted software. Leave the gaming to the big boys.

Full Auto 2 is exclusive? Seriously I'd think they would want to milk that turd or all its worth on every platform. I'n the light of Burnout, Full Auto was a seriously underwhelming title for 360. Perhaps in 4D it will soar.

to #28 PS360

A) Legend of Zelda and Mario has generally been AAA titles (with maybe a few exceptions, but those barely dent the AAA title ratio). If you want to complain, how about the many, many "sports car racing simulator" there are, even if they have different names, since their gameplay is essentially identical?

B) Hand tilt = gimmicky, yes. 8 second delay? doesn't exist. The delay is much less than one second, and please don't try to deny this unless you have proof to back it up, there's enough user accounts to prove your statement otherwise.

C) Which Ubisoft game are you referring to? Please clarify, else I'll assume you mean Rayman, which happens to be non-exclusive.

You can't reason with Ethan anymore, he is beyond thinking within reality.

As for the topic at hand...

Oblivion is the only credited game on there worth getting at full price at launch. Everything else is either unproven or you can get for MUCH cheaper elsewhere.

Also look carefully at the news article...

"Downloadable first party games will cost less than $15 at launch."

Means: We will hike up the price once we get a userbase to milk from.

Sony needs to make money somewhere.

Also ignore PS360, he isn't operating within reality either.

These are the best of that bunch:

Rainbow Six Vegas (Ubisoft) (multiplatform)
Ridge Racer 7
Call of Duty 3 (Activision) (multiplatform)
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (Bethesda) (multiplatform)

And all are on my 360 except for RR7 but RR6 is more than enough right now (I'm enjoying it even though it got a lukewarm reception; addictive as hell!).

Of course, to be fair - the 360 didn' have too many hot titles at launch but soon after we had a handful of very good titles, now a year on some great titles and the best to come in the next month or so.

Moral of the story? Get a 360 now and enjoy all those games, cheaper and just as good (graphics) and get a PS3 a year from now when it's in a simliar position (hopefully with a price drop)

Basically, until the REAL next gen GT, Wipeout and FF are out there is no point in buying the PS3.

That is by far the best launch lineup of any console ever !!! Anybody that says otherwise is a blind fanqueer and should be shot !!!! Everybody knows that most of those titles are hard hitters and will be great sellers.......while alot are multi-platform, they are still very good titles and most of them include extra content for the PS3 to take some advantage of the blu-ray and better processor . Waaayyy better than the 360 launch....waaayyy better......and of course nintendo's only good games will be first party (there won't be too many of those)....damn mario over and over again.
One word for COPA.....I seriously hope that you don't have a $400 xbox 360 (i especially hope you didnt get it at launch with its shitty titles).....your sittin there saying you don't see anything special that makes the $499 pricetag worth it....dude your fuckin crazy!!!! Resistance by itself makes it worth it....the PS3 is not just a gaming machine either....its a damn computer....you browse the web......watch HD movies....play next gen HD games....even create a fuckin spreadsheet or type out a paper on it and save it to a memory card if you want. it does everything and has a processor in it more powerful than anybody's desktop at home. for anybody to still not think the PS3 is worth $499 is dumb as shit....BTW IT'S NOT $599 ITS $499 THERE ARE 2 PACKAGES......THE $499 HAS HDMI....THE $499 IS WAY BETTER THAN THE 360......ITS WORTH IT REGARDLESS OF WHAT YOU SAY. THE 360 IS WORTHLESS....IM ON MY 3RD ONE....DONT BUY HARDWARE FROM A SOFTWARE COMPANY !!!!!!!

but they are multiplatform and with the 360's killer exclusives being spear headed by GEARS OF WAR theres little motivation ot jump onboard for a ps3. now if mgs4 or ff or even motorstorm were on that list it would be a big diff but all those killer games can be had on the 360 with same graphics.
