As for the 4 levels, I think you will be able to download more over time. Think episodic content.

What good does 1080p do for you if you can still see the blockey, angular edges of the polygons? I'd rather see them use higher resolution models before they start putting out higher resolution games.

And for all you technological idiots out there, I'm not talking about anti-aliasing. I'm talking about models that aren't made with enough triangles.

A pathetic exexample of any thing next gen, regardless of the platform it is on, being in 1080p @60 just makes it a bigger joke.

@Marty .. dude, its called cell shading.

And, XBL games will always be crippled;

1 - The pricing cap; devs have to break up their games and sell the peices separately so they can fall under the pricing cap. This is what happended with Lunimes.

2 - Arbitrary 50mb limit. MSs argument is probably, but, thats enough. Devs are saying, wtf, let us decide whats enough.

3 - HDD is not std. You're just limiting your install base; pisses off devs.

4 - The 360 controller was designed for FPSs; it blows for anything retro or arcadey.

How would it be an Xbox Live Arcade Killer? Cause it's a good game on another service?

Are castle crashers and small arms PS3 online store killers?

you are allowed to present things as news without trying to start a flamewar for no reason.

Looks like a fun game, I'd definitely buy it if I were getting a PS3.

Here's the thing. If it does really well, chances are it'll probably end up being cross-platform.

That said, if Sony doesn't have a file-size limit (which I'm sure they do to some degree), this could be the first big - and possible ultimate - challenge the Microsoft in terms of the "arcade" content.

the reason there is a 50 mg cap is so it will fit on a memory card so you can bring your games over to your friends houses. Unlike PS3 where if you have more than 5 friends you are out of luck.

plus while the 360 controller does suck for games like street fighter, not all small arcadey games require a good d-pad. In fact, most of the exciting ones don't. Castle crashers, geometry wars, small arms, fl0w, marble blast ultra, and criminal crackdown all are primarily designed with the analog stick in mind.

and as far as the install base, I think the sales numbers for pac-man, geometry wars, street fighter or marble blast pretty much show that the market is there on the 360.

face it, both services will be good and you don't have to make things up to bash microsoft just cause you're a sony fanboy.

I'm a 360 fanboy but I'll admit the games coming out for PS3 online look good too.

"Xbox Live Arcade killer". LOL, that is really the funniest thing I heard all day long.. This whole Sony thing is soo pityful. I hear the PS3 is going to also make toast and pancakes, no really and the service is free!

Be interesting to see what they charge for this and other similar games and then what they charge for extra content. For a 4-level game I would expect $5 max.

I'm sure this game will be great as Jaffe is responsible for games like God of War...

This is just one of the many reasons I am looking forward to the PS3.

@5 - Cell shading? O_O I'm talking about low polygon models... if this is truly next-gen, it should be able to handle the extra poly's of better models, especially for such a basic looking game.

I hope the PS3 'arcade' does really well, and that will light a fire under the butts of Microsoft Arcade Live folks and start showing us its potential. I'm tired of Frogger, Dig Dug, Pacman crap. Those are the classics, but they are classics I can get on every compilation pack under the sun.

I hope it's a great game--the more good competition there is between the 360 and the PS3 the better, for us gamers.

But wait--a great game without HD cut scenes??? That's Blu-Ray sacrilege!!! I hope theres a new 50GB version in the works... ;)

I think I played this game when it was called Cel Damage.

While the premise for the game sounds cool, and it may very well be fun, it's going to take alot more than this to propel sony's online download service up to the levels of XBLA and Virtual Console. Granted, Geometry Wars pretty much single handedly put XBLA in the spotlight, but with the games that are coming to XBLA like Castle Crashers and Small Arms, sony will still have some catching up to do.

A fun game's a fun game, but if you have to pay $600 for a console to play it on, taking a pause to assess whether it's $600 worth of fun is not unwise...

Not going to happen. Ingog is strictly Sony. If what you are saying is true, then maybe the 360 could expect to see twisted metal, god of war, and warhawk. And while we're all in dream land, maybe Halo will come out for the ps3.

I hope the game itself doesn't cost much, because it sounds like you're going to have to pay every time to you download additional content.
