HOT TIP!

If you order this online and enter the coupon code "Diamond" (from the Xbox Live Diamond Card program), you can get 10 dollars off, at least negating the shipping.

Anyone whothinks this anything but a rediculous price is out of their mind. You can purchase a 10 foot HDMI certified double-shielded, gold-plated cable for under $10 these days, i.e. http://www.mycablemart.com/store/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=325

monoprice is the bomb diggity. I get all my hi def cables from them for under 15$ shipped.

Now from what I've read in forums it would be impossible for the 360 to just get a dvi/hdmi cable, something about the board being analog only or so many in/outs on it not letting it happen.

if thats the case, it'll just be a box that takes the 5 RCA cables and converts it to hdmi so you can have just one clean cable running to your tv or projector. the actual benefit of a true digital-digital connection, however, would be lost.

So does this mean that the 360 with (this) HDMI can output 1080p native digital content, or is just some fancy-ass rewiring of component-output-signal-into-HDMI-signal and the 360 internally is gonna be outputing @ 720p/1080i (not 1080p) ???

I'm glad Gamestop is going to release it so I buy it for HDTV while watching my HD-DVD movies.

Whats the point in this cable? It won't be HDCP compliant anyway. I'm fine with the component connection going to my 42" LCD at 720P. I see so many issues with A/V Receivers, cable boxes, Blu-Ray and HDDVD players running HDMI it makes me ill. I know for a fact it's a great digital connection, but these copyright restricitions make it lame. The media pirates will ALWAYS find a way to copy movies/music. Why does the honest consumer have to punished?

The 360 has the capability to utilize HDMI- All they're waiting for is market penetration of HDMI-capable HDTVs. Currently, most HDTVs in the wild (meaning, in gamers' homes) do not support HDMI, so the customer base for such a cable would be smaller than would justify a production run.

That being said, there's nothing special about HDMI. You can do HDCP on a DVI cable, and the 360 will allow 1080p (if your HDTV can even do that) with the VGA-HD cable. HDMI is not inherently "better" than the other cables. It's just another way to get the data from point A to point C. It doesn't carry "more" of the picture to your HDTV.

Try the VGA-HD cables, and watch some movies upscaled to 768p. They look great! Games look awesome at this level, too. I eagerly await the upgrade that will allow the 360 to output 1080i via VGA-HD cable.

but wouldnt this be pointless because the 360 doesn't have a native Digital out to support the HDMI or something along the lines of the board inside it not having the right connectors? So wouldnt this be as pointless as a HDMI on the gamecube?

So far thats what i've heard from anyone that knows anything about high def and games on 360.

Probably because they had typed Xbox 360 by mistake and changed it to the PS3 later.
