How is this different from regular MK3, other than playing against people online?

I'm thinking that since it was an unfinished build last night, they disabled the ability to log onto Xbox Live while playing it.

Unfortunately, they have yet to fix or issue a patch, which is why we still can't log on, despite it being 'officially' released on XBL.

FSK405K -

I think this one added a few more characters. Could be wrong. I was always more of a Street Fighter fan, anyway.

Does this include Galaga? I played that thing for far more hours than I did actual MK3.

Yep got it today and as above my xbox live is not working with it. Too bad some of these games lack the old dip switch emulation where you could tweak the game a bit, for extra lives, difficulty etc. Oh well it looks and runs great. I am a bit old though and I think a trip over to gamefaqs is in order. I'll be damned if I can remember a single move from this game.

Personally I'm more of an MK2 guy than 3. I think "Ultimate" was kinda like their version of "Super" and "Turbo" for Street Fighter. I can;'t remember, but maybe there were a couple more characters?

Playing vs. my friends online is a HUGE draw. Does it work well with the Street Fighter on XBL? Depending on how well it runs, I might just need to get a 360 when the price goes down.

I've been waiting for this one for awhile. I must say, it surpasses my expectations a bit. I haven't tried the Xbox Live aspect, but it sounds promising. It's definitely the good old Mortal Kombat. I didn't even bother with the trial.

agreed. it's a tactic to draw attention away from the lumines firestorm. i for one am not falling for it. i might order another xbla title in the future if they have the sense to repair the lumines debacle.

the D PAd on the xbox controller is terrible. It does control better than Street Fighter though.

The arcade version of UMK3 included the entire cast of MK3, plus Classic Sub-Zero, Ermac, Jade, Kitana, Mileena, Reptile and Scorpion. Furthermore, it allowed you to play as (or against) Human Smoke (via a code). I believe that you could also fight Noob Saibot, but I don't believe that he had his movelist from the Genesis/SNES versions of the game.

I agree with Sam. While the 360 dpad isn't great, this controls much better than Street Fighter. I downloaded the trial this time first (after stupidly purchasing the full SF2 before trying it). I had bad expectations but I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the crappy d-pad seems way better on UMK3. I think I'm gonna grab the full version.

No, but I know you bash the 360 on every post so one would assume you have not even played it and are once again making stuff up. The only thing more pathetic than that is that you bash the worst d-pad available with the second worst d-pad available. Please get a life.

GJM - i have to agree with you, i though the dual shock has just as bad if not worse d pad than the 360. i remember the ps1 games i had problems with before analog was so common. ms should release a special cheap but good d pad controller for these older titles.

Wow does thins bring back memories or what!

The Dpad isn't as bad as people make out, it's just not like the dpads of old, you get used to it definatly, im having great fun pulling off fatalities, well worth the creds unlike lumines.

Yeaaaa boi the game I was waiting for. Bought it while I was at my friend's house yesterday. Found out that though I lost all my skills (SNES controller was better too :P), I still remembered a lot of the moves, hellz yea!

And yo kevinski, I remember UMK3 for my SNES the way you described it, with a crapload more characters and all. And this one is different. There were always 2 versions? Confusing.

I'm going to purchase this game as well. I was really surprised how at home I felt when playing it. Now if I could just dig up my tattered strategy guide to this puppy... I forget all the fatalities and babalities and animalities and friendships (I can't believe that they put these in a game).

The D-PAD sucks for this game. After owning it all weekend, I cannot even beat the novice tournament. Only about only one out of every five attempts to pull off a move ever work. I can press back, back, LP to throw a spear(scorpian), but instead i somehow keep jumping in the air. Good port though.
