Toys R Us: Buy 2 games, get 1 free [update 1]

Deals don't come along very often for gamers. Pre-order bundle packages, $60 games, along with the nickle and diming of Xbox Live -- it's all sinister and dirty. That's why the Toys R Us buy 2, get 1 free, is always a beacon of hope in a relatively dismal consumer market.If you've never experienced the joy of this deal, it is as legit as it gets. Naturally, the free game is the one of the three with the cheapest price tag. This deal works best when you get all $60 games or $20 games in a bundle. The sale runs until Saturday in stores and online -- it doesn't work on pre-orders.
If you don't mind sloppy seconds, Gamestop and EB Games is also having a buy 2, get 1 free sale, on used games and DVDs. Nothing wrong with used, just means it has more experience.

Yeah, they do this anually, just before the hollidays. The past few TRU deals almost made me broke.
Just remember that the 3rd game must be of equal or lesser price to the first two. Every year, there's always some noob who asks "Well, can I get two $20 games and a $50 one free?". No buddy, it doesn't work like that.
As mentioned above, it works best if three games are the same price (all three $60 or all three $20). I also recommend going to more than one location as not all local TRU stores carry the same titles.

You get these sorts of offers all the time in the UK. OK, not for all titles, and not for all formats, but I am shocked, SHOCKED that you guys have to pay full price every time.

Haven't seen that deal in canada, but the best buy in my area has splitter cell on sale for 59.99, thats 10 bucks off and you get 1yr of XBL gold for free... to top it off when you buy any 360 game Call of Duty 2 is only 9.99.. very good deal.

This looks like a very good deal. I'm already up to $135 on 6 DS games.
A side note... scroll down to the bottom of the page (after clicking the image on the post) and under the column NEW RELEASES, guess what comes as #1?
That's right! Halo 1 for Xbox!

The promo only runs until 11:59PM on October 28th, and isn't good for pre-orders. No Gears of War or FF XII for you! That said, you could probably bypass that limitation by grabbing three $60 games, keeping them sealed, and then returning the first two for whatever you really wanted.

I suggest you get new games to support the developers and not listen to any gamestop advise that used games are better. Sadly I am starting to think that Joystiq has relations (sexually?) with gamestop / ebgames because for the past 2-3 weeks they haven't stopped talking about them. Oh well, do whatever you want with your money, I'm going to get the luxury of new games except I won't be partaking in this event since I am saving up for 3 Wii games.

I took advantage of this deal in 02 and 04. I didn't last year cuz I was saving for a 360. This year I'm hoping to get Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Splinter Cell, and the 3rd game I'm not sure what it's going to be. Saint's Row?
Oh yeah and you can buy cross platform if you want. In 04 I bought 2 xbox games and a ps2 game. San Andreas, DOA Ultimate and Burnout 3.

THIS HAPPENED BEFORE TO ME. MY BIRTHDAY IS ON FRIDAY SO IM LUCKY IT HAPPENS AROUND NOW. LAST YEAR I GOT JAK X COMBAT RACING , RATCHET DEADLOCK AND DRAGONBALL Z TENKAICHI. I GOT 3 NEW GAMES AT ONCE

A lot of places will price match this special so if your local Toys R Us doesnt have the greatest selection walk over to Best Buy let them know of the special/bring in the Sunday TRU ad and pick out 3 games you really want.

Actually ANY Game is allowed, including new releases like Mortal Kombat:Armegeddon or Dead Rising.
Anyway, I Went there today (Thanks to Joystiq!)
and got me Trauma Center, Mario Kart DS (Just Comment Me Sometime, and I will send you my Friend #) and Sonic Rush.
it was a hard choice, from a crapload of "Naruto" games, to "Players Choice" titles i allready own.
as well as what to do when Wii or PS3 come out.

It DOES work with pre-orders. As long as you are paying the full price of the pre-order game it works. I boutght 2 DS games for my kids and pre-ordered one and I still got one of the games free.
