It looks like the PS3 player is having a bit of trouble, but not as much as I expected.

That being said, hand me a Wii please.

Wii version looks like more fun right away, that whole pick up and play mentality that follows the system. PS3 version looks fun, but for more reasons of figuring out combinations and how to do certain tricks to tie together into large scores, more classic tony hawk esc.

So, can't really say which one is better, considering I'm pulled from two sides on thie issue.

I don't think it's fair to compare the games as they're two entirely different titles, however I can say that I would much prefer having rumble in the sixaxis than motion-sensors. I'll likely be playing both project 8 on the 360 and downhill jam on the wii.

They are two different games... I'm not sure that either controller looks more or less integral (although the Wii one certainly looks more an essential part of things like grinding).

But between the games Project 8 looks like (drum roll) just another Hawk game. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but not in any way a positively good one either. Downhill jam is more SSX meets Hawk, and moreover feels like the true reinvention.

Edge Wii.

As much as I love traditional Tony Hawk games (really, I do), THP8 looks lackluster. For all the talk the slow-mo trick system has been getting, I really don't see how it makes it any different. Just looks like it's going to be a bunch of pre-set analog and axis motions that do kickflips. Sure, I'd get both, but right now, sign me up for Downhill Jam.

Just more proof that the ps3 is more of the same stuff... this just looks like the same thps that I played in junior high. That got old after proskater 2 and I don't see how it's getting any better, besides the power of the PS3.

I played the THP8 demo on 360 and it's great. The graphics are incredible. Much better than Wasteland looked on 360. The gameplay is solid, and I've never liked any of the Tony Hawk games .

I agree that it's not really fair to compare the two games. They're two completely different visions built from the ground up for two completely different platforms.

I've got the thp8 on the 360 too and it is really really great. I got so bored of the tony hawk's series after 3, but 8 is a really good way of retaining the classic tony hawk's gameplay but making it new and more enjoyable. That said i do NOT think p8 will port well to the ps3, whereas downhill jam is a new game designed specifically for the controller, and looks damn fun to say the least, project 8 is more of a classic controller based game, which works really well on the 360, and on the ps3, it looks like they've just incorporated the motion sensing for the hell of it.
I, like alot of others, will be playing project 8 on the 360 and downhill jam on the wii, and as nintendo has always served me better than the competition in the past, i predict i'll be spending more time on downhill jame. It looks like a much more enjoyable multiplayer game which is how i like to play my games, I just HOPE so much it's going to support online multiplayer like p8 will.

Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam looks like possibly the worst Tony Hawk game in my opinion. I see how people could be excited for having adownhill, SSX-like game, but not me. I am all for "just another tony hawk game", which is more what THP8 is. I have been dissappointed with the newer Tony Hawk games in general, and along with being dissapointed in Downhill Jam, THP8 isn't what i was expecting from the game (at least from seeing thsi video). I thought that THP8 was going to be a more realistic game, wehre you woul find a nice rail or jump, and work at it until you got it right. From the video, this looks just like another Tony Hawk game, which, even though it is dissapointing, it is better than Downhill Jam.

Project 8 is more of the same stuff. Even if you haven't grown tired of the series doing the same thing over and over by now, you can still just play any of the PS2 games for the same experience. Downhill Jam actually looks refreshing and more fun. I imagine it's the better multi-player experience as well.

Downhill Jam looks like way more fun to me. I'll pass on project 8 - been there, done that. I'm getting downhill jam at launch and I really look forward to it.

Firstly, when I first saw video of Project 8, I couldn't believe the graphics. Very amazing.

However, I haven't played a Tony Hawk game since THUG which I thoroughly enjoyed, but tired me out on the series. The whole slow motion aspect doesn't seem all that fun/great IMO. The first time you see it go into bullet time, it looks cool. But any time after that, and it's tired.

Also, I find mixing motion sensing and slow motion awkward. As the player slows down time, he just keeps the controler tilted as he waits for the kickflip to finish. It just seems useless to me.

I'm not completely sold on Downhill Jam. I'm a fan of SSX type games. Was really into Downhill Domination for about a month. It depends on whether there are plenty of courses to choose from. I wish it had online play. I might just pick up the DS version which sounds incredible.
