That is the worst of worst lists. Basically its taking a bunch of clique reasons, and saying a game is bad based on that. Such is not a good way to make a list. Also it shouldnt matter what system it was on, it should be the developer that made its fault.

Umm.. Where is Beyond the Beyond? Worst RPG ever created. The beginning scene was a half hour of characters talking, even if you pressed X to make it go faster. And you couldn't skip it. The battle scenes were slightly cool, though, which were made exactly as Golden Sun was stylized. As soon as I played GS I had a terrible flashback of Beyond the Beyond... Terrible, terrible game. First RPG on the PSX, the only reason I got it was cause it came out before FFVII, and I needed an RPG, only played a couple hours on it.

Gah >_< I have some really good childhood memories with Shaqfu! Come on, the game was really that bad ;_;.

Well, at least Superman 64 didn't make it. I actually kind of enjoyed myself with that one to. Of course, I was less than 10 during all of this :P.

I can think of a dozen games that I hated much more than PoP:WW that missed this list. To list some non-controversial ones:

Big Rigs: Over The Road Racing (PC)
Mystery Quest (NES)
Under The Skin (PS2)
Superman 64 (N64)
Soul Fighter (DC)
Drake and the 99 Dragons (Xbox)
Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring (GBA version only)
Street Fighter 2010 (NES)
Jaws Unleashed (PS2)
Mortal Kombat (GB)
Street Fighter: the Movie (Saturn)
Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters (NES)

If I can indulge my controversial side, I'll throw out God of War, Final Fantasy 7, and Viewtiful Joe as well.

I agree with the Sonic, could have been better thought out.

1. ET... no brainer, remember playing that myself..and yes, I am that old :(

2. Super Columbine Massacre RPG... I can think of far worse games, and fars worse RPG... and this wasn't even commercial. Think this was the emotive choice.

3. Custer's Revenge ... Only seen screenshots of the game... never seen it run, probably the same as the author :) Mind u, looks terrible! Jack Thompson should ban this one :D

4. Daikatana ... Yep it wasn't as good as people thought it should be, but it wasn't a terrible game.

5. Pac-Man (Atari, 1981) ... PLayed this one to death, it was probably the best conversion a VCS could handle... very bad choice.

6. Smurf Rescue ... Hmph... seen better (Donly Kong was spot on on the Coleco) but deffo not in the worse game category...

7. Shaq Fu (Electronic Arts, 1994) ... No idea...
8. Make My Video (Digital Pictures, 1992) .. Again..no idea

9. Prince of Persia: Warrior Within (Ubisoft, 2004) ... Played it.. not great but seen worse...

10. Elf Bowling (NStorm, 2005) ... eh?

Terrible list.
Doubt the writer even played half of these.

TYPING OF THE DEAD is conspicuously good and half of the others are more notorious that outright bad. A lazy bit of work by the writer.

The "make my video" games might seem kind of stupid and hokey now, 14 years later. But when it first came out on the Sega CD, and a computer with a cdrom was still quite expensive at that time (my 486 Zeos was 4 grand) it was innovative that you could get something like this for a 300 dollar unit. It definitely does not deserve this title, and I can think of many far worse games of the top of my head. Almost any movie license in fact..

No wonder it's the worst Worst Games Ever list, Musashi Samurai Legend didn't even get a mention.

It went for the "in-your-face anime sword guy with rockin' music" idea and failed miserably. Painful voices, no real plot development, forgettable music, slowdown when you do the simplest things, one savepoint in the central hub area coupled with long and incredibly frustrating linear levels that only have one "checkpoint" halfway through, and above all it was milked with a simplistic cellphone tie-in game.

Sadly, it was a sequel to the mostly-unknown PS1 game, Brave Fencer Musashi, which was one of the most charming games I've ever played. Apparently it's okay to take a steaming dump on something to make it "fresh," put it in a DVD case, and sell it on shelves.

I don't have many complaints with that list, other than the choice to include Warrior Within. While I agree that the PoP franchise (post SNES) went down the drain since Sands of Time, I do not think it was really that bad in terms of gameplay. There are definately worse games out there. If you want a better list of bad games, then I'd visit www.seanbaby.com. He did an article for EGM way back when (I think it was their 100th issue), and it'll give you more than a couple split sides. ^o^

And who the hell doesn't like Typing of the Dead? People who don't have a soul, that's who. You want to teach someone how to type? Combine the task with some zombie fragging. I'm sure they'll get it down pat.

It's obvious that this list wasn't written by gamer(s)--just people who play games. Anyone that doesn't understand why Shaq-Foo is the greatest has no business making a list of games that "suck." I can't believe games as solid as POPTWW, however lame it was, were put into a list with E.T.

This list is stupid.

I definately agree with the Prince 0f Persia inclsion. That game was horrible IMO. A character about the size of characters from Fuzion Frenzy(great game) supposed to be taken seriously? Which brings me to another game...God of War. How the hell this game doesn't come off as a blatant rip off of the Prince of Persia games I have no idea. After falling into the hype, picked up God of War, beat 5 levels, returned it. The exact same game as POP, IMO. Sorry, but I can't take a game seriously that has characters on screen that small that are supposed to be "badasses". Fuzion Frenzy works because it's supposed to be a fun, stupid game.

/rant. Of course, all of this is my opinion

They could've gone by sales marks, or by horrid flaws, but of course not. Not these geniuses.

Alright, we all know about E.T. These guys came many years too late. Seanbaby and god knows who else beat you to the punch about this stuff long ago.

I'd like to give a "thumbs down" nod to Rise of the Robots for SNES. That was horrible.

It seems like they are rating the games against stuff that is out now, not against what they would've been like in their day and time.

Oh, and how does Shaq-fu get a mention, but Michael Jordan in the Windy City does not? And CAPTAIN NOVALIN. Even if it was for education, dodging cookies and taking insulin in a game is not fun.

Um, PoP making the top ten is an atrocity. This is a just a pathetic, attention-grabbing tactic that has no credibility whatsoever. There are thousands...literally thousands of games made throughout history that are FAR WORSE than PoP Warrior Within. This is about as bad as Sports Illustrated picking the Dolphins to go to the superbowl! I hate when magazines pull stunts like this. You tell me whether you'd rather be stuck in a jail cell with PoP:WW or Superman 64.

Their reasoning may be bad, and it certainly shouldn't be on a "bottom 10" list, but Warrior Within really isn't a good game. The setting, the plot, the characters, all of it was changed from the dreamlike and fairly original (well, kind of original) stuff that they had in Sands of Time to bunch of mass-marketable drivel, filled with cheesy one-liners, "gothic" architecture, pointless blood (why the hell do people made of sand bleed?), cleavage, and characters trying and failing to be badass. That wouldn't be so bad, but then they went and cut back on the puzzles and such in order to focus on the new combat system, which ended up being worse than in Sands of Time because they threw in tons of fights next to pits and made it extremely easy to "accidentally" fall into them (usually because you've jumped off a giant monster's back, the only way to avoid it hitting you, and had a pit directly behind you). They didn't even fix the issues with the first game where the character would often attack an enemy other than the one you were actually trying to hit, and instead focused on giving the Prince a bunch of "cool" weapons.

It's not bad enough to be one of the worst ever, but it's definitely not good enough to deserve that 84% on Gamerankings. It's not terrible, but it's still not a good game.

Warrior Within sucked in my opinion...in comparison to Sand of Time. NOT in comparison to say, Bad Boys (PS2). Now there's a game that deserves your hatred. It came OUT at $20, and man, what crap. Horrible targeting, an idiotic 'sidekick' AI that would walk in front of your line of fire...WHILE YOU WERE SHOOTING, and some of the worst dialog in the history of human speech.

Honestly, the fact that this list includes games distributed for FREE is rediculous, and annihilates any credibility this writer might have had. It's FREE you jackass. Save your ire for games like Brute Force, that tricked innocent gamers out of fifty bucks.

I'm gonna have to disagree with PoP:WW. At first I was one of those who boycotted it because of the crummy soundtrack, but I went back and gave it another chance. Besides the soundtrack it's actually a really good game. Pretty decent story, nice graphic effects, good controls and sound effects. I mean it wasn't the game of the year, but it sure doesn't deserve to be on that list.

The "badittude" wasn't that bad. And I thought gameplay mattered most?

I was very pleasantly surprised playing Warrior Within after reading all the people bashing it. It improved on the athletics, some of the chase scenes were brilliant, and the game looked absolutely beautiful. Seriously, I can only hope Zelda TP will look as good as the gardens in POPWW, or that wooden bridge section outside the mechanical tower.

If you think it's a bad, game, frankly, I believe you're a brainwashed tool.

Warrior Within was a huge disappointment in terms of art from Sands of Time but the gameplay was more or less the same if not a little better. The only real problems they added with the gameplay were fighting the same enemies and bosses over and over again, also backtracking made the enviromental puzzles a lot less fun the second time around. Though, Two Thrones did a great job making up for the slip-up while still canonizing Warrior Within.

P.S. If you don't know what game I'm talking about just go to Gamespot and check out the game with the rating of 1.0 (the lowest a game can get; they wanted to give it 0, but that wasn't even in their rating system).

Some problems with this list are:(in no particular order and not an exhaustive list)
1. What sort of countdown goes from 1 to 10?
2. The reasons advanced for these choices mostly had little to do with gaming. Judgements should be on gameplay, graphics, music, etc.
4. Where is BIG RIGS?
