Ingenious: the TV remote modeled after the Wiimote has become a game controller (more specifically an NES controller) again by way of some clever modding. Coupled with the NES controller turned TV remote, we have now restored balance in the cosmic gaming universe.
We're still hoping one day some modern day Geppetto can turn one of these Wii-shaped TV remote into a real Wiimote. Continue reading for a video of the NES Wiimote in action.
Um, how exactally do we know that this is authentic? He could just have someone off screen playing it, or even a recorded video that hes impersonating.
Splinter, he screws up in the last few seconds of the video, and tries hitting B to jump instead of A (since they're labelled 1 and 2). If this was a fake, he wouldn't have screwed up like that. The controls were very tight too.
What kind of system is he playing on? It looks like a small, cheap knockoff of the Xbox to me. Then I noticed he has a Gamecube there, but I'm presuming just because the screen mounts on to it and possibly gets its power from it.
It saddens me that someone would take apart such a collectible thing, and mod it only to play NES games. :'( I believe this mod IS authentic, but it's completely pointless. -.-
I agree. This is the kind of mod I would do (and may do) to a real Wiimote, but I'd never destroy a collectible like this. I just ordered a TV Wiimote a few days ago too.
Now, one thing I do plan on doing is modding a virtual console controller to play SNES games. That baby looks comfortable!
