You can play with 8 players if you like though in Resistance with levels that get scaled down. That's the difference.

GeoW puts the term tactical on this game because they couldn't pull off more players. If flanking EVERY time means tactical, then so be it.

Why is there no capture the flag? Because the levels are too small. Why a lot of other modes missing?.... This isn't innovation. This is a cut down experience because they're pulling off more than the 360 can handle, and can't have more players on screen. This makes it blantently obvious.

To have a smaller level and less players is fine. But for that to be the only option, and to call "flank all the time" game a tactical one is really stretching it.

This is a play it for 2 weeks and trade it in game. At least from what I've seen and now officially heard.

from the review

"The build we played was the same as at X06 in Barcelona last month and not gold copy, but if what we played of the multiplayer mode was any indication, then the answer is a resounding "yes." Gears is worth the hype.

51 from what ur heard is its a trade in game

no most people are saying you will want to go back and play more

also i am pretty sure they could have made bigger maps and they still could by you buying them on mearketplace and the reason there r none is cuz its called a pop and shoot game

it would take forever to end a game like gow with 40 people with people hiding in cover
and look at halo and halo 2 for xbox so the power of 360 has not been put to its full potential yet not for 1 or 2 yrs

Petrie, it's not because someone has difficulties in English that you don't have to take him/her seriously. It's the Internet and people from all the world are on it. I live in a French province (Quebec, Canada) and my English is not very good but that doesn't mean that I should be taken less seriously.

lefty you were saying that u can't talk on the ps3 so it may not be that confusing with 40 people in a game talkin but the ps3 supports bluetooth wireless so u can use a cell phone blue tooth headset if u have one that what the guy on onthespot said but not many people have those but i am jhust saying you could talk online if u wanted to or if sony makes a headset which they probably will

I played Mansion back in August. Wrote about it here:

I also made an aerial basic layout of the level.

Ok, so there are crates, but are there barrels?

If so, do the barrels explode? If not, are there exploding crates?

I mean, this is a FP- I mean, _over-the-shoulder_ shooter.

@Ethan

Resistance can't even have great textures. Not even when it's on betaray.
Just admit it- the PS3's "killer" FPS has been pwned by any FPS running on a source engine on a $500 PC. ;)

Resistance is just basically online TimeSplitters from what i've heard i think its made by the same studios after they split or something.
I played TimeSplitters for about a year and never came back. I've been playing Halo 2 over that. I think if they wanted some huge match they would of done it. There is already Halo 2 so they didn't go in its territory.

MS owns the FPS genre. Sony owns the RPG genre. Nintendo owns Zelda and Mario.

Resistance may be an exception but for those of us with 360s it looks like Gears of War is a pickup.

One thing that a lot of people don't realize is that the number of multiplayer opponents is limited by your connection, not your system. If Gears is pushing the 360 graphically to the brink with 7 characters on screen, then they are limited to 8. But I bet the system can handle much more than that in single player while also running the AI for everything + your teamates. My point is that it is 4v4 by choice of the developer, not lack of hardware capabilities. My 360 can handle GRAW, a graphically impressive game, with me and a friend playing split screen on the same system online with 10 other people in campaign mode with about 50 enemies scurrying about.

This thread should not be about Resistance. People are so friken stupid to bring that game up. Could you possibly be more gay if you tried your hardest? I think not.

Gears of war will be the best game on live until halo 3. that is a fact. so please get used to it ok? for all of you who don't yet have a 360, hopefully this game will convince you to get one. I hope to see a lot of people switching from halo 2 to gears of war. get into the next gen already, I mean it's been a whole year, you can't keep making excuses, especially in the face of gears of war. besides for myself, I will be happy to play some realistic combat. you know not "hey I'm being shot at, what should I do?" Oh that's right I'll jump, thats the dumbest thing you could possibly do in an actual combat situation. and the auto regeneration of halo sucks too. don't you people remember counter strike? didn't you like hp instead of oh damn I almost killed that guy but now he is at full hp again. and no respawn means that you will take fewer chances with your life, no more run and gun, now it's stop and pop. I for one will love the change. Oh and they have a piont, if there was 8v8 games it would take too long for each game, I mean can you imagine seeing 1 team mate turn a corner and be shot from six or seven different directions? there would be no way that you would ever want to leave your cover. and that guy who died would have to wait until that game ended to play again, how boring. plus with 4v4 you can have 3 friends over and have your whole team right there in the same room, how awesome would that be? really awesome. besides all of that, the game looks fantastic, not just graphically but story-wise aswell. Man I can't wait.

Well, I've been playing Gears of War since launch day, and I have to say I am quite impressed with the online. (Single Player, like most XB360 shooters are relatively short and sweet) I will not compare it to Resistance, since:

#1: I haven't played it yet.
#2: Don't wanna spark this PS3 vs 360 debate.

Yes, maps are a bit small, but it's perfect to accomodate the tactical based gameplay that I'm loving a lot of. So far, with the people I've played with, half of them being friends from other games, run and gun is almost out of the question. Yeah it's possible an all, but even if you were to get a kill, chances are someone's close by, and you're brown-bread by the time you realize it. There aren't many game modes, and I haven't really been bothered by it because of the gameplay jus sucks me in.

I don't plan on purchasing a PS3 as of yet (Mainly because I have my Wii reserved and paid in full + a couple games.) But I'm lookin forward to playin Resistance over my friends house who has his PS3 paid off.

For the record, Gears of War is a great game and I'll be playin it for months to come (or until Wii comes out)
