Microsoft announced yesterday that the company's Xbox 360 has set a new record for Australian home console sales. GameDaily reports: "The next-gen console has sold over 100,000 units since its launch seven months ago on March 23, eclipsing the previous PS2-held record of 78,000 units in its first seven months."To put that into perspective, the Xbox 360 sold 1,650,000 units or .55% of 300,000,000 Americans for the same seven-month period. That would mean based on 2006 estimated populations, only .49% of Australians purchased a 360 in the same amount of time. While the Australian achievement is solid, is it "record-breaking" press release and Sony pot-shot worthy given said percentages and recent lackluster 360 sales?
In a related story, Borat Sagdiyev (pictured) committed shelf space next to his "VCR Recorder" exclusively for the PS3 making him the first Kazakhstanian reporter to do so, a record! Expect a Sony press release in late November.*
