True story: I'm a Lumines newb and a conscious sucker for Microsoft's evil pricing strategy for this game. Last night I was just about to unlock the first time attack achievement when the power went out, plunging my once luminous abode into inky darkness. Because life just isn't bearable without electronic entertainment (Even in a blackout, I can't stomach the load times on a PSP) I had to leave the house immediately. Luckily the lights came on this morning, and I erased my 30 blocks. What's your record for the 1 minute time attack?

My record is 70 blocks, which is the second time attack achievement that gets unlocked when you clear the first. It's almost impossible to get and I was lucky to do it. If anyone has a good strategy on how to get high scores, sharing is caring.

Yeah, that sucks.. Mine is 57, and that was the product of 2 hours of doing nothing but playing the 60 second.. Good tips for Lumines would be helpful as I'm also a noob.. Although, I have opened a lot of skins and do decently well online.. I just hate the online lag/slowness compared to the offline game..

32 here.
How you'd manage to get the second time attack achivements is absolutly baffling to me. I can't imagine eliminating more then a block a second for 30 seconds let alone doing it for 5 minutes for the last achivement.

Go to the All-Time leaderboards, and click on the best score (157, I think) -- the Replay feature allows you to see just HOW they got that score.

60 in 60 seconds. I doubt I'll ever get 70, unless I try for about an hour.
I'm quite content with my near million score on the Advance pack skins, though. I played for like 2 hours straight!

Play the challenge mode until you can make combos quick and keep them going. Then try again at the time attack mode.
The longer time attacks are generally easier, especially for the 600 cleared in 600 secs, allowing you to combo like crazy, which is harder to do in the short time given for the 70 cleared in 60 secs.

Actually, I learned more the reverse way. I did a ton of Time Attack to learn the challenge modes.

I can never get too far in the game (yes, I actually got the base pack, before the whole controversy), only up to the third theme in the challenge mode. I never really played Lumines before I played this, so this is my first time playing it.
Also, ITS NOT MS's "pricing strategy", the pricing was set up by Q? Entertainment. Microsoft just publishes the content on the Live Marketplace server, and tests if it works on a retail 360. They don't set the prices, they don't make the content, unless their the actual developer of the game. Will people QUIT blaming MS for what these developers are doing. That kind of follows the "shoot the messenger" analogy.
Also, the pricing won't be any better on PS3, since once again, its up to the developers to set the prices and make the content, and Sony will just publish it on their server. So the micro-transaction problems will exist on PS3 as well...

My most is 40 odd (47 I think) and I used the same tactic as the replay for the guy at the top...
Seems I'm a lot worse than him though, and I thought I was good at Lumines :(
