The more I read about the PS3 pre-order, the more I'm glad I DIDN'T manage to get one for eBay, because there's going to be way more on eBay than there are people wanting to buy. Mark my words, there's not going to be nearly the demand when release day comes as the XBox360.

I waited in line here in Athens, GA for a Wii preorder.. I got there at 9:00pm last night, and I was the first Wii guy there. There were 7 guys ahead of me all wanting PS3s. Our store's numbers were exactly the same as yours.. so 2 of the guys ahead of me left and one changed to a Wii.

It was a glorious, but cold, night. And after 15 hours (damn you daylight savings time! damn you!), I walked away with my Wii preorder slip.

Now the hard part: waiting until November 19.

I got my Wii pre-order today from Toys R Us. It was a 5 hour wait from 5am to 10am to get one. It was on a first-come first-serve bases though. I was 10 out of 20 Wiis available. The people who were in front had been camping out since Thrusday for a PS3 though. Yikes! Two fellas behind me wanted a PS3, but since finding out they couldn't, decided to get Wii instead for two reasons - one, the system itself, and two, ruining some poor chumps dream in the back of the line. Oh well, poor saps back there just didn't come early enough. The workers were nice though. Let us in two at a time for bathroom breaks and came out with some cookies and juice for comfort. Unfortunatly, no space heaters, but w/e. It was all good. All I know is that soon I will be holding Wii in my hands.

When I first heard of Gamestop and Toys R Us employees getting to preorder, I was pretty ticked off, but after thinking about it, I do believe they should be allowed a chance to get a system too. I do believe, however, it is unfair that they get first crack when so many gamers are willing to wait in line for hours. I say make the employees wait in line like everyone else, and if they want it bad enough, they'll be out there.

My local Toys R Us had a sign up in the video game section saying they wouldn't take preorders for the Wii & Ps3.

Oh well. Hopefully I can get one at launch.

"and now the hard part, waiting until November 19th"

Dude, from this point, that is easy

I'm replaying through The Windwaker to pass the time, and i figure "If i can stretch the Windwaker to November 5th, then its only 2 weeks", A replay through both of the Metroid Primes should fill that

Before i know it, its Sunday, and i'm running off to GameCrazy...

And btw, does anyone have ANY inkling as to when Metroid Prime 3 is to be released? My money is Q1 '07, but i'm not sure, because i think they're giving it the same treatment as they are to Wario Ware: SM, delay it so it is not overshadowed by Zelda

Any hints would help...

Mr. Khan --

If you check out EBGames website, they have Metroid Prime 3 shipping 6/7/06. I would say this is the soonest you are going to see it. That is also the date for Super Smash Brawl and Super Mario Galaxies, but unlikely they would all release on the same day like that.

I have a feeling it will be Christmas 2007 before we get the full Wii titles we have all been waiting for.

So, I walk into Toys R Us on FRIDAY and gave the manager crap for not selling me one when the night before, TRU's site said they would take orders in store the following day. Turns out it was a mistake but, regardless, was construed (by me.. haha) as false advertisement.

Out of the 10 Wii's they have allocated, I managed to get my Wii preorder Friday without any wait of any kind. Gotta love it. Now I have one preordered at EB and TRU. I dare say I have this Wii thing covered for launch day. By the way, 20 days, nine hours and 18 min left!!!

Thought about going...decided against it.

I don't NEED it Nov.19, but it'd be nice to have then.

At least at WallyWorld, you'll be able to "camp" inside.

My Story: The time i did not get a wii preorder because toys t us lied

I was there at toys r us today. At like 6:00 (technically 5:00 because time went backwards). I was like the eight in line. So I'm waiting there for like 3 hrs. So one of the lady come out with a list. She is asking who is buying what from a ps3, wii, and the elmo. Well when she gets to guy infront thatsaid he wanted a wii she said they did not have anymore wii. They only had six. Well the guy is having this big tantrum yelling about how hes been there since three oclock in the morning and yeah we are in orlando, florida ou might not think it gets cold but at like 5 oclock in the morning it really does get cold so keep that in mind. But the thing that piss me and like eight other people in the line is that they were fu*king taking name from yesterday at like 1 p.m. Which if they would have told me that when i called them yesterday i probably would have been there. And been in line with the people that been there since like yesterday. And yeah this is my Not getting my wii preorder because toys r us was basically taking preorders from like yesterday not from like today so people were waiting there from like a long time in like midnight. So i guess i'm going with plan B to just be at walmart on like the 18th of november in walmart just walking around for the whole day and just stand and talk to the cashier till it hits 12:00 midnight were they are probably gonna give out tickets and its like the lotto and then you can probably buy it. ima go check out the 17th of november and see how things are going to be handled with the ps3. Well if plan B does work ima just go to like EB or Game Stop.

But yeah but if you have any advise or you just want to sell me your wii pre order email me at

Im out. And thank you for reading :-(

EB games didn't really have as much exposure as TRU, though. I was surprised when I got preorders for both the Wii and PS3 (eBay now, I'll get another in about a year) without waiting for more than a few minutes. The only good thing about living in hick suburbia. I was thinking about heading near TRU and placing another Wii order, but I overslept.

At the TRU in Orland Park, IL where i was number 20 of 20 for the Wii (because I'm awesome like that) they had a really nice system going. At 6:00, the manager came out, went down the line and passed out the reservation tickets for the consoles (double ups where allowed, he did the same with the elmos a little later once he double checked the stock) After that he said to come back when they opened at 9:00 in order to process the order. Now, when I came back there was a huge-ass line longer than the one i was in earlier. It was around 8:50 when a group of people (myself included) explained how they had already distrubuted the "rations" and that they were probably just wasting their time now if they didn't have a ticket. One lady was really pissed off. She was all like "Why were people waiting here last night when they didn't even advertise it until this morning?" I didn't feel like pointing out the obvious "ITS BEEN ON THE INTERNET FOR 2 WEEKS." Basically, while I was standing in line I acted like I was sympathetic to them. However, after I left all I could think about was "NOOOOOOOOOOBS!"

No, they didn't. Most likely, we'll see Metroid in March-July period, with an Aug-oct release for SMGalaxies, and a holiday 07 launch for SSB:Brawl. It's just common business sense for Nintendo to spread this out and fill in titles that will not be as big of blockbusters inbetween, that way they keep market share steady, with no huge drops after one huge gain (like Zelda+Metroid launch would cause, and SMG+Brawl or any combo of the sort).

Just look at GCN's blockbluster flow, and also DS's. You'll see the obvious pattern easily.

I camped at a Toys R Us in TN from about 6AM to opening at noon, and there were only about 6 people in front of me. They were all together (I want to say they were family but probably were friends with relatives) and between them all, they bought all 4 PS3 units, one Wii unit (they tried to argue that their 11yo son deserved the second preorder since he had camped out "all night" but left that night at midnight to return at 5. I feel bad that he didn't get the system he really wanted, but they should have had someone camp out in his place instead of going by verbal agreements with the manager there), and *8* tickle me elmo dolls....funny, they knew the exact ebay price of each item...

It was sort of screwy because they only had 3 Wii preorders, another (dumber) manager didn't do her homework and started selling preorders last night before they closed because people were pressuring her. They originally had 15 or 20 Wii units but after this girl reamed their stocked preorders prematurely there were only three available this morning. I did get one but sort of feel bad for all the willing campers that came at all hours of the morning only to hear that both consoles were completely sold out.

I was lucky enough to get them back in the EBGames debacle. I was number 5 out of 30. I was astonished that within 10 minutes, the preorders were sold out. Not to mention everyone bought more than one game with the system (Let's just say that didn't happen when I pre ordered a PS3.) In fact no one preordered a game for the PS3. So much for Sony's next gen.

You know, it really irks me when people use eBay to make 200%+ profit on launch consoles.

I mean, even though they're fanboy douches, people like Ethan and Darth Pixel actually deserve those PS3s, not someone aiming to make profit off of them.

Sony and Nintendo aren't aiming to make a profit? Perhaps they should devote their lives to a company that doesn't go from 2 million to 500,000 consoles at launch..or at least wait a few months. Don't have sympathy for the impatient bastards that pay $1000+ on eBay.

I have no sympathy for the idiots that are willing to waste their money on eBay, and I don't have much of a problem with the people making the money, seeing as how it doesn't seem to be cramping the ability of the rest of us honest folk to invest a couple hours standing out in the heat (OK, I live in Yuma, AZ, and it was still warm on GS-presale day) for a reservation (#4, #3 in line).

All these tales of pre-order waits and failures make me glad a local store(Part of a national chain) started taking preorders back in August and didn't advertise it until a week or two later. I walked in to buy a DS Lite, and when I left I also got a preorder/reservation for a Wii. Won't stop me from getting there the moment they open on launch day though.

The same store also had quite a few GCs available at launch day, and I was able to pick one up that afternoon without any trouble. Sometimes it helps to live in a small town.

And for reference: I'm from The Netherlands.

There are so many people going the ebay route, it leads me to think that the price won't be as high as predicted. It's supply and demand here, and obviously there is a lot of supply for ebay. The only way to combat this would be if some people sold their's in November and the rest in December. but, there will never be a community agreement on this, so the profits will be forced to stay smaller.

The guys at the front of the line each got an Elmo, PS3 and Wii. We even went so far as to provide them with 5 dozen hot donuts.

I got into the line at my local TRU at just about 4am, ended up being 17th in line. I wanted a PS3 and a Wii, but they only had 6 PS3s. At about 6am the manager arrived at the store and told everyone in line (a lot of people were there for the Elmos) that since it was cold he would be right back to hand out tickets and let us go someplace warmer. I got my ticket for a Wii and two Elmos and ended up just staying in front of the store to warn those who missed out on the Wii (only 20 were available and they went fast) and the Elmos that they were already sold out.

Many of the latecomers were a little mad but they had nobody to blame but themselves. I got to talk with the manager for a little bit and he seemed like a really nice guy. I also got interviewed for NPR.
