Quick question: How, with all of the time that's passed since the original Jaguar was released, and with all of the technological advances in the same said period of time, did someone manage to make the "portable" version ever uglier than the original?!

Yuck!

I bought one of those crappy systems when they first came out. What a rip. And then someone bought it from me off of eBay. Thank goodness for eBay.

Maybe it's because Ben is a hardware specialist, not a hardware designer?

I still want to see what he can do with the Wii considering (a) it's already small, and (b) it can be made even smaller because a reasonable portion is used to make it durable.

Added note: making a portable Wii in itself would be impossible due to controls, but making a portable gamecube is highly possible, and that it might actually remain Wii-sized. Or we could go with the portable game system setup by merging it with a portable projector..

Gamecube definiately seems portable, I actually believe that they did start making the gamecube hardware into the next gameboy but when DS showed so much strength they revamped it into what is now the Wii.

Yeah... This coming just two days after the stupid debate of PSP Homebrew is stupid.

Someone can take a few hours and make this happen on PSP. Look at all the systems we're already currently able to Emulate.

Actually, looking at it again, you know what this guy should really do? Honestly, just throw a guitar neck on this thing! It's already the bottom half of an axe.. so I think it wouldn't really add anything but give space to put a buncha batteries to add to the slim factor.

Brilliat, Mabui! We could play Jaguar and Guitar Hero at the same time. Now all we have to do is figure out why you'd want to.

I have to give this guy full credit, though. I bet most people are wondering why you'd even want to make a portable Jaguar. This guy's answer is obviously, "Because he can."

@ Platinum Skeet

I thought about saying the same thing but wasn't going to bring up the subject of emulation. Mostly because every time someone does somebody else invariably says something about them not being as good as the real thing. Granted there may be some small differences but I have most of the systems you mentioned on my PSP and have found little if no faults in them. Some even have Wifi capabilities which is cool. Also they are more convenient to use instead of trying to hook up five or six systems to your TV so you can play all the games you love.

While I respect anyone who takes the time and has the skill to do something of this level it just isn't for me. Why? Well as I stated above I have been playing a portable version of almost every system out on my PSP for about a year now. The PSP is smaller, looks better, and most likely has better battery life than this. Some may think that the PSP has poor battery life. But running games off the memory stick greatly increases the battery life. I usually get six to seven hours of playtime from my PSP when playing emulators.

Also I do realize that to some the issue of ROMS and emulators may be straddling the legality fence. But at least for me I can deal with that. As I don't download any games that are readily available such as for the Xbox, Ps2 etc. I mean who's making money off of Atari 2600 games anymore or Rush n Attack for the NES.

Lastly PSP HOMEBREW FTW !!!! :)

Because the PSP has the inherent disadvantage of being unable to play from carts directly, and does not have the correct input setup.

Made about a year and a half before Ben's. :P He knows it too, he mentioned it a few times on the forums.

I wonder why Ben Heck hasn't come up with a portable MAME machine or something. He has the design skills, and with today's high-tech components like tiny motherboards or single board computers, he could do a heck of a nice little system, and probably not significantly bigger than a PSP or GPX2.

Dang but that's ugly!

Wouldn't it have been a lot better to make a clamshell style case, so that you could flip the lid up like a laptop? More complicated I suppose... but this monstrosity is so huge it's really not a portable!
