- We aren't doing a total site revamp, so one of the main aspects was not which design was "the best" (a couple of those didn't make it to the final 5, in my opinion), but which design was "the best for this site".
- Look at the rest of the site for a moment -- there's not much to look at except text, really. With that in mind, simplicity was key. We chose a design that was not cramped with pictures, fog, etc. We aren't saying that was a bad move, but again, for this site, we don't think using something that "doesn't fit in" would be a wise decision.
- While many of the banners were very visually appealing and pretty darn slick, they wouldn't serve well as "banners" -- making the title of the page the main focus as opposed to pictures or overall style.
There are a couple more nitpicky details, but really, those can be handled by our crew so they can be ignored for this list. Since the turnout for this content was a lot better than expected, we may make it a little more of a tradition than a permanent change. Heck, maybe if we get permission from the higher-ups, we can do seasonal banners. That'd be pretty cool. So, without further ado, we formally announce our winner: congratulations, Kristoffer Acasio! We'll be using your design until the next contest. Be sure to brag to all your friends!
