Seriously, and this obviously needs to be said over and over again, if you think it's ridiculous, pull the stick out of your crack and just don't pre-order. You're not being forced to.

People will either pre-order or not, and the world still spins. Find some more productive uses for your time than whining about something that has little to no effect on your life.

And if you hate Halo to begin with, shut up. It doesn't concern you.

ya MS would be stupid to not make enough copies as there are x box 360s out as of now then make a couple hundred thousand after that because people will storm to the store and buy like hundereds and try to sell them on ebay or something stupid like that

whats wrong with starting preorders this early? its not like they steal yuor money. the money is put towards the game. if anything, it benefits those people that want a nice guarantee that they will get the game. each gamestops allocation is based on preorders anyway.

You know what, I am a Gamestop Employee and I find it ridiculous that you all bash on pre-ordering and the people that make minimum wage who are told to have decent pre-order numbers everyday. Let me know where you work and I will kindly bitch about your daily tasks, you know the tasks you get paid to do. Pre Ordeing is not ridiculous at all, infact, its smart in a sense. A usual preorder for a game of lets say "Need for Speed Carbon" will generally be unnecessary due to the mass amount of quantities shipped. But now say you want a limited/collectors/ recently added legendary edition of a game or of a game with a rank "C" title that is generally not in demand then why not? You get a guranteed copy along with money towards the game which by the way dumbasses can be refunded at any point in time in the form of original payment. SO LETS ALL BITCH ABOUT THE 360 PRE-ORDERS RIGHT? WRONG, the reason EB's and Gamestops had lines of reserves waiting to get their system was due to the LACK OF UNITS PRODUCED AND SHIPPED BY MICROSOFT. You people arguing your point must not know anything about how a business works. If I am correct I didn't see Best buy, or WAL-MART having tons either, usually systems were picked up by LUCKY walk ins upon arrival of more shipments, so please go kindly suck a dick as well. oh IF YOU REALLLY WANT A KICK, ASK BEST BUY/TARGET/ OR ANY OTHER MAJOR DEPARTMENT STORE HOW MANY PS3'S THEY ARE GETTING, THEN TELL ME OFFICIAL PRE ORDERS ARE RETARTED WHEN YOUR CAMPING OUT IN THE COLD AND MISS YOUR SPOT BY ONE PERSON. I for a fact know every quantity of both systems arriving in stores for the year. Its great to be number 4 in line and still not getting one for all you target fans. Reserving games is not stupid nor is reserving systems. You put money on your item, get a gurantee, most of the time pre order bonuses, which you can ask anyone who wanted the final fantasy advent children bonus DVD but DID NOT reserve it, and to secure the edition of your liking. Not to mention we get more of every game that has pre orders to sell to the other dumbasses who didnt reserve it. Yea your welcome. So to everyone who does not pre order, have fun in the snow waiting for your ps3 or wii leaving your family at home christmas eve only to show up empty handed. Or who everyone who wants the limited master chief bust but cries when we have none. If you dont care about collecting and just want the game, then dont reserve it. We still are required to ask. So have a nice day fuck heads.

Ross you are an idiot EB/GS did not lie about your 360 pre-order and BTW it is one of the few times they were unable to deliver due to circumstances beyond their control as it is clearly stated on your receipts(especially now). Microsoft promised set amount for a launch period when it should have been a launch date. This is why only half the 360 pre-orders were filled on day one. Some of you nine year olds need to check your facts before you start bashing a company or more to the point those that work their arses off serving you the arrogant, living still with your mom gamers. Of course Joysticks headline doesn't help. Talk about "creating" a story. Sorry arse journalism and some sorry arse individuals out there as well. All of you that think you could run a game business better than put your money, sweat and tears where your f*ckin' mouth is.

Nick 300 and Turk both make very valid points. The biggest reason for preorders is for those who are concerned about limited/collectors editions of games which tend to be in very short supply at release. If you want a prime example walk into your local EB/GS/Target/whatever and try to find a copy of Neverwinter Nights 2 Collector's for the PC. Fat freakin chance. Don't blame the employees for having to do their jobs and ask for preorders, same as half of you Halo-loving morons have to do your jobs and drop fries in the basket when you are told. And please, if you insist on inanely spouting off about how Halo is the best video game series ever, please first check your spelling, grammar and punctuation. Also, it helps you make your point if you're not utilizing ridiculous webspeak words like "pwn" and "noob". Those are perfectly fine to use in game, hell, I do it myself. But when you're posting an actual written opinion, you automatically tell the reader "Hey, everything I'm about to say is the opinion of a 12 year old prepubescent that can't differentiate games and reality!" Thank you.

dear nick 300, author of comment #57,
I completely agree with everything you just said, and you could just think about when one of the dumb bitches who didnt reserve it walks in your store when you are sold out saying "aww, why arent there any left". You will be able to say "should have reserved it, ass fuck".

and for all you people who dont like halo, or who arent ever gonna reserve it, or just dont care, you can mind your own fucking business, and worry about doing things you find fun (like sucking cock) and leave the employees and people who are reserving the fuck alone!

yeah, your damn right I said it

Dude, come on.

Seriously, if you're gonna go and preorder, go ahead. I don't really want to because I think I won't even have a 360 by then, I probably won't want to play it after I beat it, and IT'S JUST A GAME.

But one thing that bugs me is that you people get so pissed about them offering preorders so early-- if someone's willing to pay, then LET THEM. If not, that's their choice. Seriously, though, don't get all pissed when you know that if you were the guy in the chair deciding whether to make an extra few MILLION $ or not, you'd take the extra million. come on, it's a million bucks. And a lot of people, unlike myself, WANT to preorder their copy. Hey, I don't blame them. It's a fun game.

But really, if you want them to release pre orders later, give me a reason first. Would you rather people kept complaining because they don't have their precious halo, or keep complaining because they DO?

Half of you people just don't make sense.

If you don't want to preorder this early, keep it to yourself at least. Jeez.

what the hell is up with all these editions? why can't you people be reasonable and just make one game instead of confusing the crap out of me? How am i supposed to know which one to get or will i just assume the most expensive one is the one to buy?

Oh, come on. Halo 3 is not worth an Xbox360. Yah, Yah, next gen, best game, but is the value really all that? If you have enough money, none of these things should matter to you, and you shouldn't be posting, but if you want value, listen. Halo 3 for say 60$ plus a 400$ console plus the about 10$ a month price for Xboxlive is insane. If anything, get a wii, just for fun. Then get the first xbox w/ halo2. that way, you get the online fighting of halo, even with lower graphics, and the wii's brand new control scheem all for one xbox360 pack with halo3. really, won't halo 3 be like a slightly graphically enhanced halo 2 with just a few changes here and there? really, that's like saying you would buy a totally new computer for the power. You would want to just upgrade that. it's too bad xbox can't do that. If there were just upgrades for the xbox that would make it good, then it would make sense, but just for the record, the price is too much just for a fps game that will be out dated in 3 years. Just like halo 2, halo 3 will not last forever.

Ah yes the "evils" of capitalism are hard at work again. Good Lord, people! There is nothing wrong with companies coming up with new ideas to let their money work for them, but I will save the economics 101 lesson. As far as the companies "lying" to the consumer about availability, anyone should know that there is nothing guaranteed in this life, except death and taxes. Also, as previously stated, this gives an idea to EB of how many units of this game to secure so that they DO have enough! If there is not enough supply to meet the demand on release day, then that's just how it is. And if you don't want to pre-order than don't do it. But we all know that everyone likes to be the only kid on the block to have the new toy, and people will pay just for that feeling...

...lol I won't, but many will...
