(I like Sony, I also own a 360, it was just the obvious joke. Im just getting it out of the way. No flame wars I beg you.)

Dam stright!!
Trogdor @ Nov 1st 2006 4:08PM
um.. no lets be nice to Japan because I really like their JRPGs and I would like them to develop for the 360 so that we could actually get them ported.
KVN @ Nov 1st 2006 4:30PM
I got to give it to microsoft they're not laying down and excepting defeat in japan they just keep pushing.Let's hope this new bundle can sell them some more units.
Jose @ Nov 1st 2006 4:20PM
Daym! $380??? Why the hell didn't American consumers reject the 360 at launch, then we'd be getting these sweet ass sweet deals and bundles.
Mal F4cti0n @ Nov 1st 2006 11:11PM
When is Lost Planet going to be available stateside anyway? What about Blue Dragon?
Guano @ Nov 1st 2006 4:34PM

ms will go to extremes to try and monopolize every market they get into. They don't care how much they lose at first, they just want to drive their competion out of business or just buy them out. To bad this will just blow in their faces just like every other atempt to buy over the japanese people. People that support ms should be ashamed of themselves. I'm already obligated to use their shity products on my computer but i'll be damned if I buy anything that say ms on it. Fuck microsoft!!
IslandLife @ Nov 1st 2006 4:36PM
Wow
MS is really getting desperate. What next, a free BMW with any purchase and a downpayment on your house of choice! And it still won't sell. Just give up MS 'cause you're really starting to embarass yourself.
riskbreaker @ Nov 1st 2006 4:42PM
it seems like the US always misses out on bundles and special systems for some reason. maybe we should do like #5 said
Usedtabe @ Nov 1st 2006 4:43PM
Wow....the fanboi's attack like rabid wolves. Sorry there hasn't been enough good news for Sony lately to hold you over. Maybe sometime soon there will be. And BMW, the same could be said for Sony
droptop GP @ Nov 1st 2006 4:45PM
Wow, lots of MS hate. But you have to admit they've had more than spectacular presentations at all the major game shows & events this year and have lived up to their promises on content and hardware.
Unlike Sony, with the worst E3 show in history, 1 worthy game on launch, no rumble, forced blu-ray purchase, the list goes on.....and on.....
MS is testing the waters in other markets and trying hard to getcome Japanese support.
"they just want to drive their competion out of business or just buy them out"
wow, stop reading blog opinions and do some research, you have no idea.
JSBeckerist @ Nov 1st 2006 5:14PM
OMG, I was thinking it would be 380$ WITHOUT a console, and was about to flip thinking people would actually PAY that MUCH for a game, headset, points and a couple maps...
...DAMN now I wish I lived in Japan!
lothar @ Nov 1st 2006 5:14PM
Geez some of you guys are real chumps, I should be ashamed of playing an XBox, or running Windows? Please, if anything you should be ashamed of showing your ignorance. If anything MS users should take some satisfaction in knowing that Bill Gates is the largest philanthropist of our time.
Microsoft is in a position to take a loss to gain market share in certain areas, thats wrong? Do you think Sony selling the PS3 for less in Japan vs the US is any different? You think Sony is selling their hardware for a gain?
Regardless of all that Sony is just as much of a consumer whore than anyone else, BluRay, Memory Stick, UMD? So Sony's wanting to go the e-distribution company for games, so why do you need the BluRay? Do you think your getting larger high quality HD games how many are going to fit on a 60G drive? If thats the case why are they forcing you to buy a bluray?
Bluray is a Trojan horse trying to get Sony's media format in your house nothing else, its bullshit to say its about the games.
DWells55 @ Nov 1st 2006 5:12PM
How can you blame Microsoft for their effort here? For some reason, Japanese gamers seem to have completely rejected everything Microsoft. It really puzzles me, because in my opinion, the original Xbox was the best system of it's generation, and I'm personally extremely satisfied with my 360 and the current wave of games.
Lost Planet looks to be a great title, although needing some minor tweaking. I did enjoy the E3 demo a lot, nice visuals and a cool environment despite the obvious repetition of snow. Hopefully Capcom can deliver here. But what I'm really itching for is them to give out some information regarding the next Resident Evil game. RE4 was jaw dropping.

You, sir, have WAY too much free time on your hands. I do believe you have jumped into every thread on this site and said the exact same thing every time. "OMG M$ iz teh monply!!1one!1 Sony iz teh gamerz compny!11 Sony sux? WTFBBQ BIAZ!1"
Seriously though, I must give you credit. At least with this post, you went without the dollar sign and crazy usage of all caps.
- IslandLife
You are much the same way as BMWM3P.
I gotta say though, it is quite entertaining wondering just what pro-Sony idiocy will spew forth from your mouths next. If the headline were to read "Microsoft sells out of every Xbox 360 in Japan! 30 million units in December!", you're response would be something along the lines of "AHAHAHA..that sux for M$. Now they'll have a supply shortage in North America! HAHA!" :\
Here's an idea...a crazy one, I know, but here me out: Instead of backing a company that has publicly stated you are an imbecile incapable of making rational decisions and will buy their product screw-by-screw if they tell you to, think for yourself. Because right now, reading the way you guys sound, I'd be hard pressed to say anything to the contrary of their claim. See also, you are making yourselves look like idiots. I'm not a "fanyboy" of anything except good games, and right now I'm not too happy with any of the big 3. This stupid anti-Sony, or anti-MS, or anti-Nintendo crap has gotten everyone so caught up, is there anyone else looking around and saying, "Well..if you look at everything on the table, there's really not alot of good SOFTWARE out there right now." Software. Remember what that is? Without it, it doesn't matter if your processor can power the Millenium Falcon, nobody is going to care. Except people like BMWM3P who will buy anything blindly because they are stupid and can't decipher through corporate b.s. on their own. Sound harsh? Well, those are pretty much Sony's thoughts on the matter. Care to prove them wrong, or validify the fact they're right? Guess we'll see.
In so far as Japan and MS goes, everyone knows that it's an uphill battle. I applaud their efforts to sell the 360 there, but I don't think they will be the most popular hardware system for a long time, if ever.
These are video game consoles we are talking about people. That's it. The fate of the free world is NOT hinging on who wins this generation of console wars. Simple fact is that each and every one of the console manufacturers is out to get your money. *gasp*. Shocking. That's how business works, if you want to stay in business anyway. The funny part of the whole thing is that the people who run around supporting Sony and bashing Microsoft are just like the people who do vice-versa. They matter the least. Their respective companies already have their vote and purchase locked in. All you are is free advertising and income. And just because you bought a Nintendo, I bought an Xbox 360, and some other guy buys a PS3, it doesn't mean that any of us are better than the other. Unless, of course, one of us only bought our system because we are a corporate tool. Then the two happy people will be the ones who are playing the games they like to play. I swear, I keep hearing the word "system" and "console" so many times. How about "games"?
I guess my point is, buy what makes you happy. But to sit around and tell someone they're stupid for liking a console you don't is no better than hating them because they like a different flavor of ice cream. I doubt you could find a forum that discusses how Ben and Jerry's is so much better than Dairy Queen and Haagen-Daz. Because nobody cares. And to be honest, if a large part of the video-gaming demographic wasn't as young as they are, these kinds of forums would be hard to find too. I enjoy talking about games as much as the next guy, but do we really have to insult people and talk about how one corporation is so much better than the other as if we are the CEO of the dang thing? Sony is getting bad media right now because they are bringing it on themselves. When MS got bad media over 360 issues, they brought that on themselves. Neither company gives 2 cents what you think, and having a bunch of people going around and proclaiming them the best is only more of a reason for them to slack in the quality department. That said, I will be very intrigued to see how the first rounds of PS3's come out.
Sorry for the long post. Not sure how it got that way. :\

I want to thank you for your long post that pretty much should be in its own main topic. That was well write and if I had the power I'd give you at least 5 stars for that. Maybe you got through to some fanboys around here, maybe now, only we can hope.

hey joystiq, could you copy and paste the comment from ethan as the first post in all future stories related to the game systems. it should be required reading people before making comments.

"BMWM3P --You, sir, have WAY too much free time on your hands"
Maybe because he has nothing better to do while waiting to play the same next-gen games that we have all been enjoying for months now.
Silent Scream (formerly Ethan Thomas) @ Nov 1st 2006 8:12PM
Thanks for the compliments guys. :). I was pretty sure I would be roasted...because it just seems nobody thinks about the games..which are the point of everything, right? Anyway, at least this comment is short..:)
