Those are the Japanese models. The box-art is totally different for the US. Don't be surprised if we get "localized", crappy box contents as far as packaging style goes.

um, the xbox bikini shot is much more ineresting. That should be the main picture for this post with "Xbox 360 undressed", not the Wii. Naked girl or unboxed console??? If you say unboxed console, go to the bathroom, look in the mirror and slap yourself.

Source?

I'm willing to bet that the US version will be very similar if not exactly the same.

Dan,
The power supply looks to be the same size as the GameCube's. It's misleading because there's nothing familiar to compare sizes with.

@15: Seconded, it's not very hard for somebody that hangs with the clubwhore clan to a) have a 360 and b) find a bonebag to exploit on the internets.

That sensor bar is pretty small compared to what I expected; I'm not sure why, but I was expecting something at least two feet long or so. I suppose that explains where it went in those Nintendo vidoes -- it's probably hiding under the TV.

Are you sure it's the Japanese one? He appears to be setting it up in Spanish. Why would there be a Spanish mode on a JP console?

Enzo

If you watched IGN's walkthrough of the Wii interface, you would have seen that the language option included English, Spanish, and French. This is pretty common for stuff that's to be released throughout Canada, the States, and Mexico.

And btw, America's got lots of Mexicans. I'm sure they wanna play Wii too.

Because it isn't that hard to program the menu in all major languages (english, japanese, french, spanish, german)

Its probably got all of those on all the Wii's

And the fact that AMERICA is the whole frecking continent, not just the US. Go back and read all the recent Nintendo press releases and they all say "Wii is set to launch in THE AMERICAS...", which means North America (CANADA,US, MEXICO) as well as Central (Panama, Guatemala, El Salvador, etc.) and South Amercica (Brazil, Argentina, Chile, etc.).

And while you're at it go and buy a map and get educated. America is the continent itself, same as Africa, Europe, etc. When Columbus discovered America it wasn't "you know what? Let's just call America this little place where the majority of the population will actually be foreign, making the economy of said country crash as soon as a new border double-wall is built and no more people can actually come over and work on jobs that no one else will do" It was "this new continent shall be known as America. As in, all of it's countries are America. Yes, that is about right".

#9 Dan:

The power brick looks big only because the Wii console is so small.

Look at the sensor bar, it looks pretty big next to the Wii as well.

Another glaring oversight for all those saying this is the Japanese boxart - The white numbers aren't in Japanese.

@31 - I thought numbers were numbers. Cause whenever I come across one of those crazy Japanese videogame commercials the numbers are still there.

True numbers ARE numbers, what changes is the language. The xbox chick was ugly, but more appealing to watch than the wii unpackaged. =D

Technically, the Japanese have their own numerical symbols. However, after googling some japanese ads, it seems that they use 'normal' numerical symbols as well.

Either way, I still don't think this boxart is Japanese only.

so...let me get this straight. Atomix- a small gaming mag for Latin America gets a final retail Wii before any of the gaming media giants do (Gamestop/IGN/1up/Famitsu)???

What's up with that?

Right on dsub - it's quite odd that foreign publications I haven't heard of are getting stuff before Japanese or American groups. Like how Sweden got that exclusive Halo 3 dealy.

I agree abotu that 360 bikini picture not being very great at all. Girl had a strange face, not sure what it was about her, but made her look kind of odd. Make up didn't help much eiher.

I had a really nice long, in-depth post, but for some reason I didn't get my confirmation email. So here I am typing again.

I'd rather look at pictures of the Wii as opposed to some video game-inspired cam whore. It was cute the first time I saw it about 5 years ago. Now everyone and their mom is posing nude with a video game console. Sorry, I'm just not impressed anymore.

Oh, and all the links on that page are dead. Seriously, who the hell uses Photobucket to host their images for their website?

That guy in the pink shirt is an asshole. and he hates gaming blogs by the way, since since blogging became the norm his magazine (I think his family owns the publishing media company) sells 1/3 of what they used to sell...

not considering he is one the most racist towards japanese guy I've met. guess being rich makes you forget how ugly you are...
