Watch the Wii get undressed

Gamespot member Adolfobaja has posted 10 high-res images of what he claims to be the unboxing of final Wii retail packaging sent to Mexican gamer mag Atomix. We're not sure if the straight-faced hombre pictured above left is indifferent to the event or just "keepin' it real." But boxes within boxes? Oh my!
[Thanks, Kenny]

Whats with the moustache?
Kinda conscious for just having his picture taken for opening a box...
Christian @ Nov 1st 2006 12:59PM
I love boxes within boxes. Full of suprises!
Well organized too!
Neko Tsukimi @ Nov 1st 2006 12:53PM
18 days, OMG. There's nothing better than unpacking a fresh, clean console...
jharr @ Nov 1st 2006 12:54PM
Did you mean Gamespot?
bv @ Nov 1st 2006 12:54PM
I just snooped into the photobucket account of the guy who posted the pictures:

Good job on the 360Bikini find. Lol.
Ryan @ Nov 1st 2006 1:00PM
Those are the Japanese models. The box-art is totally different for the US. Don't be surprised if we get "localized", crappy box contents as far as packaging style goes.
natureboy46 @ Nov 1st 2006 1:02PM
Holy crap, BV. That's almost enough to get me to buy a 360.
Dan @ Nov 1st 2006 1:03PM
take a look at the photobucket shot of all the stuff on the table. That's quite a power brick.
natureboy46 @ Nov 1st 2006 1:06PM
Where's the nun-chuck?
gamerx @ Nov 1st 2006 1:08PM
Damn thats some hot Wii packaging! Like a hot chick wearing slutty clothes bahaha! Notice the Wii interface on the HDTV though, it looks pretty crisp and clear.
Inferno @ Nov 1st 2006 1:16PM
um, the xbox bikini shot is much more ineresting. That should be the main picture for this post with "Xbox 360 undressed", not the Wii. Naked girl or unboxed console??? If you say unboxed console, go to the bathroom, look in the mirror and slap yourself.

I'm willing to bet that the US version will be very similar if not exactly the same.
crono141 @ Nov 1st 2006 1:29PM
That chick isn't nearly curvy enough.
slux @ Nov 1st 2006 3:05PM
The xbox bikini can also be seen on destructoid in higher res. Plus more pics of the same girl as she found the site a while ago and stopped by the forums :P
ZeroG @ Nov 1st 2006 1:39PM
LMFAO! Hombre!
That one word (and the sick content) just made my day!
(well, I have just been doing homework since I woke up at midday)
ZeroG @ Nov 1st 2006 1:38PM
Oh, and it all feels very "ipod mini"...AWESOME!
Dracula Jones @ Nov 1st 2006 1:41PM
No Wii Sports?
GlitchCog @ Nov 1st 2006 1:50PM
Dan,
The power supply looks to be the same size as the GameCube's. It's misleading because there's nothing familiar to compare sizes with.
Chris @ Nov 1st 2006 1:51PM
@15: Seconded, it's not very hard for somebody that hangs with the clubwhore clan to a) have a 360 and b) find a bonebag to exploit on the internets.
bv @ Nov 1st 2006 1:52PM
Complete large set of 360 bikini pics!!!

That sensor bar is pretty small compared to what I expected; I'm not sure why, but I was expecting something at least two feet long or so. I suppose that explains where it went in those Nintendo vidoes -- it's probably hiding under the TV.
teknotom @ Nov 1st 2006 1:59PM
Are you sure it's the Japanese one? He appears to be setting it up in Spanish. Why would there be a Spanish mode on a JP console?
Enzo @ Nov 1st 2006 2:12PM
teknotom, why would there be a Spanish mode on American consoles for that matter?
Neko Tsukimi @ Nov 1st 2006 2:22PM
Enzo
If you watched IGN's walkthrough of the Wii interface, you would have seen that the language option included English, Spanish, and French. This is pretty common for stuff that's to be released throughout Canada, the States, and Mexico.
And btw, America's got lots of Mexicans. I'm sure they wanna play Wii too.
crono141 @ Nov 1st 2006 2:22PM
Because it isn't that hard to program the menu in all major languages (english, japanese, french, spanish, german)
Its probably got all of those on all the Wii's
s @ Nov 1st 2006 2:31PM
spanish... north american... spanish... north american...
enzo... not thinking... mexicans are the majority in california now. why not include spanish? japan though? come on now. the packaging is the same everywhere. America's has an F***ing sticker on it and now everyone is betting nintendo may package it different.
EdEN @ Nov 1st 2006 2:43PM
And the fact that AMERICA is the whole frecking continent, not just the US. Go back and read all the recent Nintendo press releases and they all say "Wii is set to launch in THE AMERICAS...", which means North America (CANADA,US, MEXICO) as well as Central (Panama, Guatemala, El Salvador, etc.) and South Amercica (Brazil, Argentina, Chile, etc.).
And while you're at it go and buy a map and get educated. America is the continent itself, same as Africa, Europe, etc. When Columbus discovered America it wasn't "you know what? Let's just call America this little place where the majority of the population will actually be foreign, making the economy of said country crash as soon as a new border double-wall is built and no more people can actually come over and work on jobs that no one else will do" It was "this new continent shall be known as America. As in, all of it's countries are America. Yes, that is about right".
mykie @ Nov 1st 2006 2:58PM
#9 Dan:
The power brick looks big only because the Wii console is so small.
Look at the sensor bar, it looks pretty big next to the Wii as well.
Skwurl @ Nov 1st 2006 3:06PM
Another glaring oversight for all those saying this is the Japanese boxart - The white numbers aren't in Japanese.
Denbowski @ Nov 1st 2006 3:23PM
@31 - I thought numbers were numbers. Cause whenever I come across one of those crazy Japanese videogame commercials the numbers are still there.
Nate Graves @ Nov 1st 2006 3:18PM
Wow, I've seen plenty of "cover yourself with video games" nekked girls and that woman may be, far and away, the ugliest.
Lordy.
DiahrreaMan @ Nov 1st 2006 3:52PM
True numbers ARE numbers, what changes is the language. The xbox chick was ugly, but more appealing to watch than the wii unpackaged. =D
Skwurl @ Nov 1st 2006 3:53PM
Technically, the Japanese have their own numerical symbols. However, after googling some japanese ads, it seems that they use 'normal' numerical symbols as well.
Either way, I still don't think this boxart is Japanese only.
Hugh Jeffner @ Nov 1st 2006 4:13PM
One of the best things about unpacking a new console:
That new console smell. I could huff those plastic bags till I pass out.
Taylor @ Nov 2nd 2006 4:04PM
I like the Gears shirt he's wearing.
dsub @ Nov 1st 2006 4:31PM
so...let me get this straight. Atomix- a small gaming mag for Latin America gets a final retail Wii before any of the gaming media giants do (Gamestop/IGN/1up/Famitsu)???
What's up with that?
Jekam @ Nov 1st 2006 9:36PM
Small did you say? It`s the #1 in latinomerica. And the fact is, they are playing the Wii meanwhile you are posting here. LOL
James @ Nov 1st 2006 4:59PM
um, is there another link to these pictures? stupid photobucket bandwidth limit...
DWells55 @ Nov 1st 2006 5:08PM
Right on dsub - it's quite odd that foreign publications I haven't heard of are getting stuff before Japanese or American groups. Like how Sweden got that exclusive Halo 3 dealy.
I agree abotu that 360 bikini picture not being very great at all. Girl had a strange face, not sure what it was about her, but made her look kind of odd. Make up didn't help much eiher.
I had a really nice long, in-depth post, but for some reason I didn't get my confirmation email. So here I am typing again.

I'd rather look at pictures of the Wii as opposed to some video game-inspired cam whore. It was cute the first time I saw it about 5 years ago. Now everyone and their mom is posing nude with a video game console. Sorry, I'm just not impressed anymore.
Oh, and all the links on that page are dead. Seriously, who the hell uses Photobucket to host their images for their website?
JodyAnthony @ Nov 1st 2006 5:49PM
uh, everyone, turn on a DS for the first time..they give you multiple language choices on every single one the world over. what is so hard to believe that the japanese wii would have multiple languages (including spanish) for the menus?
adolfo @ Nov 1st 2006 7:44PM
thks for put my name and gave me the credit for the pictures. SALUDOS Adolfobaja
vakerorokero @ Nov 1st 2006 7:32PM
That guy in the pink shirt is an asshole. and he hates gaming blogs by the way, since since blogging became the norm his magazine (I think his family owns the publishing media company) sells 1/3 of what they used to sell...
not considering he is one the most racist towards japanese guy I've met. guess being rich makes you forget how ugly you are...
ConstyXIV @ Nov 1st 2006 7:42PM
Anyone else notice the shirts the crew was wearing?
Gears of War (360)
Playstation 3 (obvious)
Every Extend Extra (PSP)
