Catgirls rule @ Nov 1st 2006 7:50PM
more women like that need to play video games
Matt @ Nov 1st 2006 7:51PM
Holy...
T-Bag @ Nov 1st 2006 7:53PM
WoW is where the bitches are at. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go buy me a copy of WoW.
Ron Smith @ Nov 1st 2006 7:55PM
Bah, where is The Sword of a Thousand Truths.
DWells55 @ Nov 1st 2006 7:57PM
I think it's fair to say that the lack of costume may have influenced the judges decision more than the costume itself did. And I can't say I blame them. Cute smile too - not exactly what comes to mind when someone mentions cosplayers...
She sure is quite purty though, but I still guarantee some stuck-up poster is going to show up and start pointing out flaws and such. It almost always happens when some topic like this shows up. Sigh...
Maybe it's time for me to pick up playing World of Warcraft*...
*I'm never playing that game, ever. If Halo 2 has addicted me to the point of 2-3 hours a day for the last 2 years, Lord knows what WoW will do to me.
-D. Wells
Join me in boycotting EA's spyware and if you'd like, their games altogether: http://www.petitiononline.com/bf2142ad/petition.html
CSpan @ Nov 1st 2006 7:58PM
What?! Girls play WoW? Hot Girls at that?
I really picked wrong with Halo :(
Patrick M. @ Nov 1st 2006 8:07PM
something tells me they didn't win because of their costumes.
rockintom99 @ Nov 1st 2006 8:47PM
OH MY GOD. A WOMEN. CHAOS!
Seriously, everybody, quit being stupid.
Colin @ Nov 1st 2006 8:51PM
rockintom99 sums it up.
Ndric @ Nov 1st 2006 9:36PM
For every girl like that that plays WoW, there's one million obese ones.
Naruhodou @ Nov 1st 2006 9:37PM
Women in skimpy clothes are great and all..but I doubt she's a gamer. Looks like someone's cousin.
RyanTV @ Nov 1st 2006 10:02PM
Jesus H Christ. Yummy.
007craft @ Nov 1st 2006 10:03PM
besides.. I doubt she plays wow... probably her boyfriend does and she came along with him.
Jonathan @ Nov 1st 2006 10:14PM
True story:
My wife gave me a new computer for my birthday. Then she discovered WoW. Then I lost both my computer and my wife. (She ran off with a guy she met on WoW)
WoW is a fun game but some people (like my wife) become totally obsessed with it, to the point that all they can talk about is what they've accomplished on WoW. It's like suddenly the real world becomes far less important to them.
Oh well, life goes on...
Kent Houseman @ Nov 1st 2006 10:15PM
the best costumes are all well and good but I want to see the incredibly bad costumes. The ones with like a morbidly obese girl posing as a night elf with hardly anything on or a one thrown together with cardboard and elmer's school glue. Dammit I need the funny!
Awesome-O @ Nov 1st 2006 10:17PM
I'd hit that!
Kevin @ Nov 1st 2006 10:39PM
Of course girls play WoW. Everyone plays WoW. It's the easiest MMO ever.
shivr @ Nov 1st 2006 10:42PM
holy crap that druid/hunder costume is like 100x better than the two that won... just sayin >_>
ZeroCorpse @ Nov 1st 2006 10:53PM
@ Jonathon--
I hate to say it, but in regards to your story, all I can say is "wow!"
Your wife actually left you for some WoW dude? That's really, really rotten. I mean, leaving you for a male model or a celebrity I can get behind, but ditching a guy for WoW addict is pretty low.
Oh well... At least you can tell yourself she didn't ditch you to run off with a furry. That would suck.
Jonathan @ Nov 1st 2006 10:59PM
ZeroCorpse:
Lol, yeah she left me for a guy who lives with his mom, plays WoW constantly, has no job and is balding. Ouch!
But it's OK, I have a new girlfriend now who's younger, cuter and way more fun to be with. If you click the link you can see her at the end of the video!
Plasma Shark @ Nov 1st 2006 11:28PM
Turn Around!
Patrick @ Nov 1st 2006 11:32PM
Lana Lang?
T-Bag @ Nov 2nd 2006 12:10AM
- Patrick,
LMFAO! That's exactly what I was thinking. Made looking at her half-naked all the better.
9mmPreacher @ Nov 2nd 2006 12:17AM
hey neat costuuuuu....holy cow a girl!
NoBullet @ Nov 2nd 2006 12:53AM
The prize is a copy of WoW and a 1 year sub. Wouldnt these people already have a copy of WoW? You'd think Blizzard would have the cash to get these people something more rewarding.
acariquara @ Nov 2nd 2006 6:14AM
"I'd hit that!"
Actually, I'd Demonic Enslave that.
Keegan @ Nov 2nd 2006 6:18AM
Meh, to anyone who's actually played WoW for a significant amount of time, this comes as no surprise. You'll find quite a few women around Azeroth, if your not a douche bag about it... Girls do exist on the internet, why else would Blizzard put the tailoring and cooking professions into the game?
Sana @ Nov 2nd 2006 6:42AM
Look at the Warlock's eyes. I'm pretty sure that's not just flash red-eye and digital pixel stuttering; that guy is wearing contacts.
And his costume is incredibly well made. It actually looks comfortable.
OK, and she is....well the Goddess doesn't make them much better than that ;)
Well done to both of them. I'm always amazed and what some with creative talent can do.
Matthew @ Nov 2nd 2006 7:53AM
I thought the only people that actually play WoW are female, seeing as if you have a penis the game is not intended for you.
blaine @ Nov 2nd 2006 8:09AM
All joking aside... because I'm dead serious:
I didn't even notice there was a dude in that picture for a solid 3 minutes.
Zequel @ Nov 2nd 2006 8:54AM
*not* your typical WoW playing female.
crono141 @ Nov 2nd 2006 9:21AM
They won because of the dudes costume (which is extremely elaborate). She's just the icing on the cake.
Mmmnnn, icing....
Todd @ Nov 2nd 2006 9:54AM
That's good marketing. No wonder she, ahem, they won first place.
elle @ Nov 2nd 2006 2:05PM
She doesn't even have hooves!
Seriously, the lock did a good job, but she's missing the body paint and is wearing too much clothing, kinda disappointing once you see the other entries.
There's some real gems in the honorable mentions:
Rogues like Twizzlers (http://www.blizzard.com/wow/ssotd/imageviewer.aspx?ImageIndex=21&Set=27)
Somebody ask for a guy in cardboard? (http://www.blizzard.com/wow/ssotd/imageviewer.aspx?ImageIndex=17&Set=27)
Even undead like GH
(http://www.blizzard.com/wow/ssotd/imageviewer.aspx?ImageIndex=10&Set=27)
They're all really good, too!
ANDRE @ Nov 2nd 2006 3:08PM
Damn.....I need WoW as soon as possible.......i rilly cant believe that a girl like that plays WoW
The Joystiq crowd should make a Hoe Train.....all aboard!!!
cheese @ Nov 2nd 2006 6:07PM
she's hot and "horny" hehe
Brian @ Nov 3rd 2006 2:16PM
LoL weird. I went to High school with her.
Julia @ Nov 4th 2006 10:29AM
hey everyone,
thanks everyone for the compliments, i'm the girl who won the contest. i didn't even know i was on this site until my friend told me... for those who were wondering, i do play wow. i have a 60 pally, a 42 rogue, a 40 priest, and a 36 mage. i made both costumes, so although mine wasn't much, and yes i didn't paint my arms, i put a lot of effort into making the nemesis gear. and those are his eyes. they're light colored so they turn red.
Galley @ Nov 4th 2006 11:00AM
Damn! I hope she gets a call from the editors of Maxim.
Katie @ Nov 4th 2006 5:54PM
first off, i don't think it's fair to say ALL you people are jealous--most of the comments were compliments. but crono141 said it best, they won cuz of the nemesis costume, and she was icing on the cake (really really hot icing...) the helm, the shoulders, and the wings alone are ridiculous and the costume is so elaborate. i watched her spend months making those costumes, working painstakingly on every last detail--even what looks like gold trim on his sleeves and belt is hand-painted. so chalking the win up to her hotness is pretty unfair when the costume was definitely one of the best, if not the best. a lot of the other costumes looked like store-bought halloween costumes...
Ying @ Nov 4th 2006 7:50PM
I can attest to Mahathi's comment. Being her twin sister, (not the other sister who's addicted to WoW) I can tell you she is certainly obsessed with this game. It's pretty hilarious to read that people don't believe she actually plays. And those costumes are most certainly elaborate. Look at the wings alone that she made from scratch! She made everything from scratch! And her boyfriend's costume is even more elaborate, sewn pretty much to look exactly like the character out of velvet and satin & then she spent hours working on building & shaping the headpiece.
Don't hate cuz you're jealous.
Mahathi @ Nov 4th 2006 10:48PM
First of all, she is my best friend in the whole world (yes the girl who plays the succubus). And yes she actually does play World of Warcraft ALOT. And i mean ALOT. She got her sister addicted who is just as hott, and maybe even hotter than herself, to the game. Her boyfriend also plays, but she didnt' just "tag" along. Another thing, those are his real eyes, no contacts cause he has perfect vision. All of you are just jealous for a)her win and b) cause you can never get a girl like her. I'd like to see any of you guys make TWO costumes like that from scratch. Cuase non of what you see there was actually sol, she made it all.
Sana @ Nov 6th 2006 2:49AM
Thanks for clearing up the contacts issue...it's hard to tell from the picture...but as I mentioned before the costume with incredible.
Congrats again to both of you, and double congrats to Julia for having the skill to make such a wonderful costume.
P.S. Julia - You do look a lot like the actress that plays Lana Lang. Of course, this be a good thing :)
P.P.S. HORDE FTW!
mountain_rage @ Nov 6th 2006 11:22PM
If the joystiq crowd is significant of why people play online (attracted to their fellow players). I hate to know what these means for all the xbox360 live players(they like little boys).
