Lost Odyssey hits Japan, demo-style
The latest issue of Famitsu sports a bonus Lost Odyssey demo disc, arriving fashionably later than expected. We're assuming this is a playable version of the brief scenario that was previewed at Tokyo Games Show and not selected for best-in-show. Maybe a more intimate look will convince Japanese consumers (if they've even got a Box to play it on).

Whats the point?
360s are non-existent in Japan, people arent gonna run out and buy one to play a demo, and if have a 360 to use it then you're already a convert.

The point is to reward those few who have bought the 360. Just like we American gamers want content for the 360. I have a 360 but I like to download new demos or get demos with a magazine.

The 360 sells on average 5,000 per month now in Japan (famitsu reports). I think the total is somewhere around 170k iirc. Upcoming games will drive that number higher.
Currently, the 360 leads the PS3 in Japan :)

at least it pleases the few ones that have a 360.
For 3 dollars I got the demo disc (and some nice print out of halo 3 in the magazine), it takes about one hour to go through and make you love the game.
Don't forget though that the RPG market is also big in the US and in europe.
Anyway MS is really doing (how much do they pay famitsu to have soooo much cover on 360's stuff in the magazine) but it seems that Sony knows better its market

Is the demo disc region locked?

Bikoko, since you played the demo would you mind posting some quick impressions or a quick review?

#5 : no idea, but if I had to guess I'd say so, the N3 demo disc was region locked if I remember correctly
#6 : IGN puts his hand on the demo, I almost agree with their feeling of the game.
Basically The game still needs a lot of polishing, choppy framerate and oddly appearing textures are a problem in the demo. The main criticizes comes from the gameplay in itself with doesn't introduce anything new to the RPG genre.
I'm not a big RPG player, I see this kind of game more as an enhanced movie, therefore I really have to feel tight with the game and as for LO is concerned I'm conquished.
so is this going to be a gameplay revolution and a true rpg revolution? clearly not
is this going to be a solid classical RPG with a very nice background story and next gen graphics? I'd tend to say yeah.
