The four day Miss Video Game competition will be held from June 10 -14 2007 in Montreal, Canada. Yeah, another Canadian gaming event! Why are we telling you about it this early? Registration is due by midnight December 31, 2006. Event organizers say 50 women have already agreed to step into the virtual ring. Allegedly Becky Young of Video Games Live and Faith Naked of The Girl Gamer are ready to lock and load.
The competition will test the players across various game genres. This isn't some wimpy one genre FPS fest, no sir, these ladies have to be good at it all: FPS, RTS, strategy and anything else the organizers come up with -- along with having gamer spirit and attitude.
Invariably a fair amount of you are saying, "But I'm a guy, what do I care?" This is where the sick/fun part comes in. Between Dec. 31 and Jan. 20 the rest of us are allowed to vote on the ladies we want to see in the competition based on personality, creativity and gamer representation. The competitors will be allowed to upload videos, interviews and audio clips during this time to sway our vote.
The pre-competition will determine four finalists and one additional finalist will be picked by the celebrity judges. No word yet on who the judges will be. The finalists will be flown to Montreal next June and battle for three days. The competition will be broadcast across the interwebs. The winner receives $1000 USD, a trip to Mexico and a gaming system. No word yet on whether Miss Video Game gets a tiara.
[Thanks, Faith]

I am far from famous! I have a show on Maxim Radio that I got because I have a friend who use to work with the guys I am on the show with. I am good at networking. That doesn't make me famous. I am just as unknown to the general public as the next gamer girl. That's what you have to remember, this is about getting a job in the industry, this is about media and marketing REAL gamer girls. I'm simply trying to do what all of you are doing and MAKE my name known. Hell, there are game developers in the running and people who work for Sony up there. It would be different if Chobot or like... Morgan Webb were running. That is where I would draw the line. But, someone like me?! Far from anyone that shouldn't be running for something like this.
Oh, and Amber, I have talked to the creators and they are legit. There are about 4 or 5 of them who are based in Montreal working on this. They have not released the sponsors names yet because they are still working on contracts and what not. Both Faith and I checked up on that when we heard about it to be sure. You are right though, I doubt any of hte other girls did research on that. You can never be TOO careful!

Get a life funcking hating retards!!
I play games some and I know some hotties who play games. Your just jealous cause cause your but-ugly and can't get laid without a 12 pack in both arms! Although my current chick hates video games, so take the good with the bad.
Go for it people, start the flames on me wannabe's.
And besides the gaming industry is 40% the size of the movie industry now. And it doubles every 2 years. Soon the gaming industry will be the largest entertainment industry out there. Recording Studios have already tried to stalemate it, but they cant.
By the way I'm a director and a gamer and my ex-wife is hotter than any chick you've ever had. And I'll kick your ass in football or any other sports in real life or in a game. I play games in real life and on the xbox stupid ass.
Yall are just upset that your too stupid to be good at games!
And for the morons. Yeah it looks like a fake address because someone copy\ied and pasted the same address 3 times. Like I said all of you prolly don't have the brain capacity to figure things out, on your own.
Man girls are girls, no matter what they play with. Barbies, games, or themselves. And yeah the average gamer 5 years ago was an ugly dork rejected by society and could only be accepted through games. But thats the past and a lot of people who aren't rejects play. Your just stuck in a time warp. Stupid fag.
Good luck with your hating. I'm sure it'll get you
laid one day. Besides your fat girlfriend.
And the "scary knife" commenter. your an idiot. How many tropicana contests are there that award tickets, but yet you don't think they bring a knife. Most gamers can't hurt a flea who cares if they get to say hi for 2 minutes. Your a moron, even to everyday people. Just shut up and look the other way dumbass.

I think a lot of attention whores are out there, but when you're at the bottom of the pits in a gaming career you need something to help you out. I game, I believe I might be pretty according to what people say, But I know for a fact I know my specs and I am very tech savy when it comes to programming, game design, graphics, etc.I'm not only entering to be miss vid game, I'm entering to show that atleast one girl know's what the hell she's talking about and can prove why.

I think it is a great idea to show the world the diversity of female gamers. Unfortunately many people are shunning the idea, commenting on its "beauty pageant" aspect. I can relate to what they are expressing however, the website is aimed to break common images and stereotypes of female gamers and to help raise awareness of the female gaming audience, which is exactly what it is doing.
It's hard to change someone’s views and beliefs. I know this is just a stepping stone in the long road of changing the world’s perception.

I just wanted to post this interview that I did with the creator of the site. It answers a lot of the questions that everyone has and is complaining about:
