wow. you people are complaining...about a *CASE*

what is wrong with you guys??

it's a fricking video game case!! i mean, do you guys pop the case into your PS2 or X Box, or Gamecube and play them? no. you play the games. i could give a rats ass how the case looks. all that matters to me is if the game is fun and enjoyable.

man, it's true that there are people that will bitch about *EVERYTHING*. sheesh.

Either way you look at it, sony is still gonna charge a assload for the game and controlers and anything else ps3 related. If you want to spend $500-600 on a system they say will blow everything else away then do it and stop bitching. I just cant justifi paying that much even if it is hi-def and has a blue ray. i dont have a flat screen tv and i will never spend $40 on a blue-ray movie so i have on need for the ps3. It will just have re-hashed crappy me-too game just like the fucking ps2 had. what we need is new concepts and new game ideals. i mean do we really need another tony hawk or gta or gta clones? any game can have great graphics, but without good game play and a good story line with great control it aint shit. so stop bitching about what the fucking game cases look like, and start bitching about all the lameass, tired, seen it before, crappy ass, played it before, useless, re-hashed, garbage that these game makers are putting out to make a quick buck.

The reason (i think) they're shorter is because you no longer need a place for an optional memory card holder, thus reducing the case by an inch. It might not seem like much, but I think they save a lot of money by shaving off all that unneeded plastic.

and @ BklynKid

"You know, all kidding and joking around aside. I have not yet heard a reason why they blatantly ripped off the Spiderman font. Seriously, why?"

Because they felt like it. They own the rights to it, so they can do whatever they want.

Jeff (#42), I have a couple of import GameCube games, and I think the box designs are awful. Not because they aren't the same size of standard DVD cases, but because the boxart is a cardboard slip-cover for the case! You have to pull off the cardboard cover before you can open the box. Pretty lame, if you ask me.

And Tom (#27), PS2 boxes are actually blue. A very, very dark blue, but blue nevertheless. Not black. :P

PS3 isn't region free, Sony never said it was.

It is explicitly regioned for the purpose of movies. This region code could be used for games too, but Sony has pledged not to do so. This is the same as PSP.

This pledge is worth very little. Sony will begin using region codes for games if it becomes sufficiently financially advantageous for them.

The case looks okay to me, it's very reminiscent of the early US (huge-sized) PS1 cases in appearance (including busy-ness), although smaller.

Is that case on the right empty of even the inside tray? Shouldn't it have the blue color visible through the transparent top area like on a BluRay movie?

...I don't like the fact that the cases are smaller. Seriously, WHY? People that have nice DVD video/game collections are going to be pissed off.

I don't get it. Sony went through the trouble to give their system a premium, black, super-shiny look, and they release cheesy transparrent game cases? Isn't this stuff supposed to match?

Yes, it's a little detail, but it's as though there's no internal standards or guidelines at Sony.

Why are the games region marked?! I thought that the PS3 was region free, or at least sony was proudly stating that. Then again can we ever trust sony on producing what they promise?
