The emphasis of combos and air combos should appease fans worried by comments made by director Masahiro Sakurai (and translated by forum posters) that hinted the title may be more simplified than its predecessor.

From when do combos mean a complicated fighting sistem? Those combos were surely pulled out with A+A+A button presses = not complicated at all. What makes the SSB series complex is the attention to detail and advanced techniques like L-canceling and C-sticking not combos.

I could certainly see 1v1 Online, that would impede Lag to a great degree, something that has to be nonexistant in an Online Fighting Game to make it work
(avoiding Dedicated Servers would also help)

But the rumors I heard, a long time back, were 8 player multiplayer matches, with 8 player Online...

Does anyone else think the animation looks very choppy and unfinished? Yes, I do of course realise the game is still being built...just a bit disconcerting. Snake especially animates very awkwardly. One of the best things about Melee was the incredible attention to detail in the animation. We shall see I guess

Did anyone else notice the wavedash that Meta Knight performed?

the biggest irony to me is that this game isn't using the Wiimote.

since graphics aren't everything, and it's not using the thing that Nintendo is claiming is essential to the growth of gaming, this title should be on my Gamecube. alas, it's not going to be, so i'm never going to play it. i'm not paying $250 so i can play two games that should have come to my Gamecube (the other, of course, is Twilight Princess). friggin Nintendo.

Sweet, although I'm a bit disappointed that the "new" character just turned out to be Fox.
I've still got my fingers crossed for Sonic...but I'd LOVE to also see Mega Man and Simon Belmont, too! Mega Man is an obvious one, but Belmont never even crossed my mind until Ringworm mentioned it. Brilliant!
Although I'd REALLY like to see Viewtiful Joe as a character.

I DO, however, hope that they let you customize the controls this time around. I've always preferred the N64 version over the GC version because I HATE the control setup in SSBM. I've NEVER been able to adjust to it.

I can see they didn't put much effort into Wario yet: out of all the characters, his motions are the most choppy. Also, there is a new gameplay mechanic here, crouch-walking, like in most 2D fighting games. I truly do not see this as important though, unless they took out the sliding and made wavedashing impossible. That would ruin the whole game for the veterans.
Fox looks horrible in this version. Far too realistic, and way too many accessories. Link is also kind of off-putting...ever hear of the uncanny valley? The detail here makes him about as close to human-like as you can get without him being human.

The video is all in game footage, no CG like in the previous trailer. Its probably just them making close ups and different types of camera angles using something simalar to the Camera Mode in SSBM

Looks great though. I like the way the stages are in this game than the previous one, Its better than all the annoying moving levels. Sometimes they can be fun. The first time I played poke floats I was thinking " whoa.. this pretty weird" but the second time I just said to myself " oh great. This level again.." The yoshi's island level looks goregous as well. Look forward to seeing more videos of this game later.
