Rumor: Wal-Mart Wii/PS3 launch playbook revealed -- midnight launches [update 1]

I live in an area where there is a brand new Super Wal-Mart that was not open when the 360 released. Does anyone know or think what they may do for the release of the PS3? THANKS!!

Well no one has answered the earlier question about Best Buy or Toys r'us. Any employees or info of the PS3 launch?

So, what would be the best time, to show up at Walmart (for Wii), I was thinking maybe 8:00 pm, what do you guys think? is that too late?

i open up the page where it advertises the ps3
this is exactly what it says "Available at your local Wal-Mart NOVEMBER 17, 12:01 a.m."

^ok^ so notice there is nothing about the release being on the 16th or th 18 or 19th, it IS infact novemeber 17th 12:01, meaning the minute after thursday, it indeed doesnt say anything about a ticket stub being passed out....I repeat it doesnt say ANYTHING about a ticket stub being passed out.... IF...IF there would be a ticket passed out the store would have to mention it somwhere on their ad...
just like best buy did, they stated clearly that infact they will be handing out ticket stubs at 7 a.m. and the store will open at 8...wal-mart says otherwise........To tell you the honest to god truth.....i dont think ANYBODY.... has no clue what th e hell they are going to do....nobody knows exactly know when people should start standing in line...In all reality i honestly believe that nobody knows what in the hell they are going to do...

My Wal-Mart ad from yesterday said what someone else mentioned in that they will be releasing at 12:01 am on Friday morning (no mention of tickets). Best Buy ad said they will start handing out tickets at 7:00 am on Friday morning. I have 2 questions. I live in a large city (Louisville,KY), so what time should I arrive at Wal-Mart? You think 6pm would be too late? And what if I get in the Best Buy line at 12:30 am? Think that will be to late.

Me and a few buddies are planning to get in line at the local Best Buy 1:00am on the 16th. Never done this type of thing before, but I figure getting there about 32hrs before the store opens should be enough...lol

Does anyone know where the lines will start for the Wii launch at Wal-Mart 24 hour store? Will it be at the electronics counter or somewhere else?

So, if you need to pee, do you lose your spot? Should I bring a portable toilet? Seriously.

Well, it may make sense to get there on the 16th.

Scenario:
50 People (ignorantly) line up for PS3. 10 people get a PS3. 6 of those people are going to sell, so they stick around in line to buy a Wii as well. The 30 people who waited for a PS3 and didn't get one wait for Wii, as well. Now 36 people are in line starting at 10pm on the 16th.
This all depends on where you live, but it's possible.

if you look other forums, they were saying that 24 hours before the release, there was not a soul, i repeat, not a soul at even the hottest spots.....so the forums said....but there was a picture....
i mean people do have work and school to attend to
at least my parents arnt letting me out of school.

Tyler, I agree. My friend and I are going to scope about 6 stores in Louisville,KY for the midnight release. We assume that a true line will form around 9:30, but we are getting some food after work and getting ther about 7, just for hec of it. After the midnight we are heading to bestbuy just for the fun of it to do the all nighter. Nothing more than that. I assume there are a couple goof balls like as doing that, and if you are, more power to you. I am a software engineer and I have to go to work on Friday, but I'm using the ol'Doctor's excuse for why I will be late and I will also be ducking out of work Friday at about 2:30 (hehe). I figure I can suck it up for 5 hours and come home and crash about 3:30. Plus I work in software, late nights are what we do for a living.

We are going to go around tomorrow sometime in the morning and gauge the situations around Wal-Mart and some of the other chains selling the system (in case we get shut out of Wal-Mart). I am going to be banking on the cold morning deterring potential patrons waiting and see how it goes. Good luck to all that try and get a console Friday.

In my small town (Live Oak, Florida), the Walmart Superstore will only have 3 Playstation 3s available for the Nov. 17 midnight launch.

ok and as for the toilet questionsm, as for everybody out there..we all go to the bathroom, therefore people shouldnt be stupid about so you wont get your spot back... i mean come on we are all out here waiting for ps'3s!!!! get HAPPY hahaha, well yeah just say you have to go to the bathroom, they shouldnt be renobs about it. just bring some chairs and blankets, you'll all be fine,

i mean in colorado we have mcDonalds in our walmarts, im not sure if any other state does? but ill be getting food from there, and if any one complains about me getting out of line....ill make sure they dont go home with ps3's.....lol....seriously...

So, I was just at WalMart... My store is not a super center. I live in a Large town. They had a line area outside the store ready to go with caution tape up. They had a sign on the front of the line that said that the ps3's will be available at 6 A.M. Friday morning. They had 4 60Gb's and 2 20gb's. There was one person in line with a tent. It's currently 38 degrees in my town, raining, and expected to snow tonight. HAHA people are Crazy!

I live in a smaller town about an hour and a half west of Atlanta and my local Wal-Mart is a SuperCenter and I have a friend who works in electronics there and he said that they have 6 60GB and 4 20GB on hand already. He also stated that there are about 15 people already in line. This is reliable info. He also said that since they didnt get the originally promised 10 60GB they will be handing out 4 rain checks. Wal-Mart Supercenters really were supposed to get 10 60GB but either Sony or the shipping company messed up and now there's rain checks.

Our walmart is doing this: At 2 o'clock in the afternoon they are announcing on the loudspeaker where the line starts. Anyone caught loitering (spelling?) around in the store will be permanently kicked out of Wal-mart. I am having 3-4 guys set up around the store and get ready to run...

So bascially my whole plan is foiled. The manager at Circuit City said Louisville was really getting the shaft. The wal-Mart guys everyone also seemed to think this as well. However, Wal-Mart wa sall about rainchecks. That is why they had extra people in their lines. One of the workers said "We give out rainchecks after person 6 unitl they're not any more. Then you can get your system in 2 to 3 weeks." If this is the case we can all (in Louisville) forget about picking up an extra one on a whim in the weeks to come. The odd part is the Wal-Mart ad says minimum of 10 (which I think means 6-60GB and 4-20GB). Any who, this sucks for all of us in Louisville,KY, considering we are a pretty big city (8th in population).

i am appalled and discusted by what is going on right now . I am fed up with listening to everything about ps3, this is discusting. I call my local "super target"
i ask "kathy" what the deal is with "Ps3" she tells me that at 4 in the morning (thursday) (4 a.m.) that people will line up and would get tickets, i ask her more questions to find out more about what exactly is going on. so the deal is, and i remind you this is what the "manager" said, NO CAMPING, you WILL NOT CAMP, IF YOU CAMP YOU BE KICKED, ok, she said, SHOW UP AT 4 A.M. NO LOITERING,she also said that she would be the one handing out those lucky tickets. you have to be their basically at 4 wait in line, and you will get a ticket stub, with that ticket stub you will come back at 8 a.m. on friday the 17th to claim and buy your ps3. the lady said 4 to 6 units will be their. Tired and excited that i might get my hands on a ps3, i wake up at 2:55, slap on close. and go to "super" target. Going there early i assumed i was maybe going to be talked at for "loitering...." but as i show up.....i found out that target wasnt so "super" at all......campers....What in the world i say to myself, this is not happening. this is discusting. I dread my self to go on further because the deeper i get, the more lies and the more hideous this story gets. 6 are outside of my local "super target" complete with 2 tents and chairs... i go out their and its 3:30, i am seventh in line thinking maybe they got 8 or so... i wait untill 4, target workers show up and this so called "team boss" we ask him what is going on? we tell him that we were informed that no campers were allowed outside...he says "well there is nothing we can do about that." we then ask him how many units they will have...6 he replies.....well what a waste of f****** time....those sick, ignorant, selfish slobs sitting outside of target for days on end...those fools....The guys then tells me that a "Target" about 10 minutes away has, i s*** you not about what he said, 32 f****** units, i almost s*** my pants, excited but....mad? i go down to this target that has 32 units, may i remind you this came from the "team manager" I go to this store, and there is 6 people outside yest camping again....i ask them how many units this store is getting, the guy says 6....he said that the store "manager" told them, what a cunt? these ignorant fools have also been sitting in front of target for quite some time now. What is going on right now i see that is not only extremly fusterating, and not only sick and discusting, but very very very un organized, this is rediculous. People really do not have any clue what is going on, THIS IS A HUGE FREAKING EVENT, HAVE SOME GOD DAMN ORGANIZATION, have some freaking organization for kids who have f****** worked their a** off for 600 dollars to buy ps3,

ive saved my money from day one for this, to get this system release date... but we have these discusting slobs, sitting outside 9 days before the release,
that is freaking stupid, how stupid, how so insainly stupid do you have to be to sit outside a god damn walmart, feed of scraps and grits for 9 days, just to get a ps3, is it detecation? determination? or is it just america? nobody, i repeat nobody was even seen in sight in japan, in ANY, store camping out, 24 hours before the release. im apalled.....

Wii supposedly already pre-sold (out) at walmart.com. But i havent read of anyone who actually got one of the supposed pre-orders, and some sites have speculated that there indeed was no pre-sale and that they will be selling at 12:01AM (eastern i suppose) on nov 17 for ps3 and nov 19 for Wii. Walmart.com links below. Oh, they also are requireing REDICULOUS purchase amounts ($1400 for ps3 and ~$600 for Wii) for the online orders. Go figure they arent making hardly any money on the consoles so they force you to buy a buttload of accessories.

damn, i just went to walmart 3 hours ago and there are already like 25 people there...i cant wait longer for a Wii...so im going back right now..and u best do the same if you want one.
