Rumor: On Target Wii numbers
A Target employee posted a list he claims is the number of Wii launch units at Target stores. The post reads like a ridiculously long list of random numbers. The only two numbers you'll care about is the first one and the second to last number. The first tells you the store number, which can easily be found by calling your local Target, and the second to last number is how many units they will receive. If you aren't into getting all DaVinci Code, there is also the option of using a "Wii Searching Doohickey." It says you can search by area code, you can also try putting in the closest major city, either way it's wonky -- try the DaVinci Code route.

It said the target in my town is getting 60. Awesome if true.
ncxcstud @ Nov 5th 2006 10:39PM
Holy crap...those near the Brandywine, DE store are in luck...they'll have 210 units 'supposedly' at that store alone...is that 210 for all of Delaware though? lol...
Sadly, the 3 columbia stores are only getting 24 each...
Probot @ Nov 5th 2006 10:41PM
The list isn't that hard to figure out.
Anyways, there is another, more reliable website that has all this info.
http://www.ps3seeker.com/wii/
ncxcstud @ Nov 5th 2006 10:41PM
Correction, Brandywine is the 'street' name...store is in Wilmington for those of you in Delaware..
ncxcstud @ Nov 5th 2006 10:44PM
#3...
The site works even worse...I put in my zipcode for the lexington, SC area (29072) and it gave me listings for Charlotte, NC...sorry, I know there are 3 Targets in Columbia, all within a 15-20 minute drive from one another...and I highly doubt the closest target to get Wiis will be in Charlotte..
Area51 @ Nov 5th 2006 10:53PM
I dont know how correct this is... i searched 4 nearby targets (Tampa/St. Pete, FL) and the highest number in the area is going to a store that is not that busy compared to some of the others.
ExTester @ Nov 5th 2006 11:10PM
For people in San Diego..
The Sports Arena is Store#201 is getting 51
and the Mission Valley one #1410 is getting 81
there are a couple more, but I figure its good enough for now..
DNT @ Nov 5th 2006 11:37PM
Does anyone really believe these numbers? Does target have 81 of anything?? The numbers sound exaggerated, the real number is probably half the number listed.
nick @ Nov 5th 2006 11:24PM
Try AREA CODE
Anyway, my area is receiving a ridiculous amount of Wiis, if the list is correct. Something like 500 between all the stores to which I have access. That's NOTHING like the 360 launch which was somewhere around 10-15 per store.
AJ @ Nov 5th 2006 11:43PM
Mine gets apparently 81 which is about right, because NJ is the most densely populated state and my Toys "R" Us got 20, which was the max I think. Hopefully my best buy will have enough and I'll get one from there (so I can use my $150 dollar gift card and best buy bucks (from Macdonald's)).
draco @ Nov 5th 2006 11:43PM
That guy should have made a csv file out of the store listings, not hard to do, replace space with comma then upload it, not hard to grab the store listing off the net and just affix it to the the csv file.
Izeas GT @ Nov 6th 2006 12:05AM
On the second page, he starts listing the stores so you can find out what number yours is. The three closest to me are getting 33, 42 (LUE FTW), and 51, for a grand total of 126 Wiis.
covenant342 @ Nov 6th 2006 12:13AM
holy crap, my target (#1238) is getting 210. That is friggin insane
??? @ Nov 6th 2006 12:21AM
#13- Behind door no.3 is Toyz"R" Us with 20.Sounds most reasonable as our only store up in igloo country is getting 20 as well. All the others sound like hooey.
Dan @ Nov 6th 2006 12:36AM
My local target is getting 51. Damn, well, I hope that's enough that I get one too.
Christopher @ Nov 6th 2006 12:49AM
OK - so if some of these stores are having midnight Wii events (and handing out tickets at 10 pm Saturday perhaps), when do you think lines will start forming?
And how will the line situation work if the store is open all day on Saturday? Will they cordon off some area for people interested in purchasing a Wii?
What do y'all think? Can anybody offer insight from past events (i.e. XBox 360 release last year)?
Thanks!
DakidOG @ Nov 6th 2006 12:58AM
@3 Your tracker worked for me I had to scroll down from the jersey stores to the Nyc stores. The grand total for nyc is 759.(all store finders on websites bring up jersey stores first too)
oh and that guys list was so easy to figure out, I can't understand why ppl were complaining. ppl are really stupid, just follow directions.
Abhinav @ Nov 6th 2006 1:08AM
Saturday would mean early lines but i have a feeling that the Wii wont be sold out at launch day. It might require someone to go to a few stores to pick one but there will be enough available to go around. If stores are actualy getting 40-60 systems i would bet that most people will be having a happy Wii Xmas.
Splinter @ Nov 6th 2006 1:04AM

Your tracker worked MUCH better than the other wii finder. It actually recognized my zip code(98011)!
Anyways, were gettin 120! Alright! I just hope these numbers are true!
FiredCylinder @ Nov 6th 2006 1:08AM
That list is wrong. I checked our incomings for my store (1102) today and it said over 100 were coming.
Christopher @ Nov 6th 2006 1:14AM
@ #22
I'd like to believe that there'll be enough on launch day to just waltz into a store, but given my experience* with the EB Games/GameStop pre-sale, I don't know...
*There were 40 people in line at 9:00 am for a pre-sale!
On the other hand, there are A LOT MORE retail outlets selling Wiis, not just EB Games/GameStop, so that's something to consider.
gphoenix51 @ Nov 6th 2006 1:33AM
My store is getting 33, so I plan to be there way early, the Gamestop numbers were nuts. Planning for another camp out.
Ian @ Nov 6th 2006 1:44AM
Question: How come this stuff isn't on "Nintendo Wii Fanboy" page in same network? You'd think it'd be there FIRST and foremost.
Just odd is all. Guys there not doing their job?
flamecannon @ Nov 6th 2006 2:07AM
My nearest one is getting 60, and one 10-15 minutes away will be getting 210. Yeah, definitely glad I didn't bother trying to get a pre-order.
Ratchet the Lombax @ Nov 6th 2006 4:15AM
See this is why I am glad that my Uncle is the regional manager of the gamestops in my area. On Nov 17 I will have a PS3 and A Wii in my hands. Yes I know that the Wii doesn't come out on the 17th but I will have them both on the same day. They will be an early Christmas present so no $600 price tag for me. Also I don't have to stand out in the cold for a pre-order or go wandering all over God's creation looking for one. This is the same way I got my Xbox360. You got to love those shipping departments and warehouses as they "loose" things alot ;).
Chuck @ Nov 6th 2006 5:02AM
Look like I wont have a problem just strolling into a Target on Nov 19th...The lowest number is only 24 while the higest is 159
Martin @ Nov 6th 2006 7:24AM

Actually that makes a lot of sense Area51. Target Corporate allocates these numbers really, and perhaps they are shipping more to one store to try to pick up customer numbers in that store. It is a great way to see if a store should stay open or not.
boywundr @ Nov 6th 2006 8:48AM
I have been checking this out since last night and, if it's true, it makes sense to me. I think I'm one of the 3 people who lives in Delaware and the Brandywine store says 210 Wii's. It makes sense because if you go to the Target page and search for a store, there's only 3 Targets in 300 miles of where I live. No laughing, please. Other people are complaining when there's 24 Wii's but 4 stores within 10 minutes of them. I can only assume they are distributing them evenly depending on the concentration of stores. Also, the Target is right by the PA border and it gets very busy due to DE's "tax-free shopping". Let's hope this is all true because a few friends and I have cancelled our camping plans to head there instead.
JohnDoe @ Nov 6th 2006 9:08AM
Every retailer is getting between like 24 and 102. Some more, some less. But like 95% of the stores are in that range, no matter what company. (I've seen these Target lists, I work at Best Buy and have checked my location among others, and have heard rumors about Circuit City and Wal Mart. All are around these numbers.
John @ Nov 6th 2006 2:18PM
Those having problems searching by zip realize that its not a nearby ZIP locator, meaning if there isn't a store in THAT zip it won't find it.
Each line looks like this
T-0366 Lexington Target Store (859)273-9403 131 West Reynolds Rd Lexington KY 40503 400 494 405
Your search need to be something in that line.
So for the above example you could have searched for 40503 or Lexington or (859) But 40502 will turn up nothing.
airpolgas @ Nov 6th 2006 2:03PM
There is a shopping center here in Los Angeles at Santa Monica Bl and La Brea. It has a Best Buy (98 units according to #3 search engine), a Target (156 units), and an EB Games store (?? units). Seems like a good spot for the 18th, but not sure if all these three will do a midnight sale.
I was also at the Universal City Gamestop (official Wii Launch) last weekend, and I was told by someone who works there that they have allocated 280 units for their pre-orders, and 150 units for walk-in. Considering it will be the hub for the West Coast release party, I would probably shy away from the area.
Fatality4u @ Nov 6th 2006 2:19PM
I can confirm that at the very least my stores numbers are correct. I work at a Target and looked at how many Wiis were are going to get.
Sam @ Nov 6th 2006 6:32PM
my closest store is getting 69 here in edina but that searcher works well just enter your town or city and it takes you right to it
Wii @ Nov 12th 2006 5:13PM
72 for me... Yay
DEE @ Nov 18th 2006 12:54PM
I just spoke to the manger at target brandywine in Wilmington DE, I am philadelphia. They said the are expecting a LINE to form outside and they will be using a numbering system if it gets out of hand. i let her know the web says they are getting 220 Wii's, she said they won't know how many until the truck actually gets there and that number is outrageous and she seriously doubts it's true. She's "only expecting about 20 consoles in the 1st shipment. Maybe they meant 220 IN ALL, from now til January" she said
Andrew Chun @ Dec 12th 2006 12:50AM
i live in CA. can u tell me when the next wii will come out around me?
