Child's Play 2006 commences [update 1]

All donations from the drive go towards sick kids in children's hospitals. Tycho has also expressed interest in expanding their support of H.O.P.E., the Hospital-based Online Pediatric Environment. Now is the time for everyone to give to charity.
If you're the kind of person who wants something back, you can purchase a Child's Play t-shirt and all proceeds go towards the charity.

Last year I got the Katamari and The Big Hungry Caterpillar...I'm thinking about getting a DS game and/or a book this year. who else has donated to this?
only flaw is that they don't have a sponser in Alaska or Minnesota, where I spend most of my time. I guess Seattle is close enough to Anchorage.

I already bought a shirt. :)
Just whatever you do, don't buy these kids Mario Hoops 3v3 (DS). They're in enough pain as it is.

Child's Play is happily a yearly, required expenditure for me, no question. Gamers have way too bad of a reputation. If there is any way this thing can grow large enough and gain enough exposure to help combat the negative stereotype of gamers, I will doeverything I can. And as a side benefit, I'm helping children in hospitals as well.
And considering this may be the most selfishly expensive holiday for gamers since Child's Play's inception, I offer up this challenge for all gamers this holiday season: anyone who buys a PlayStation 3, donate $60 worth of stuff to Child's Play. Anyone who buys a 360, donate $40 worth of stuff dollars. Anyone who buys a Wii this holiday season, donate $25 worth of stuff to Child's Play. Obviously, if you are able to spend that much for a console, you can add an extra 10% to help out a worthy charity.
My goal is to buy a Wii this holiday, and I'll be donating a lot more than $25.

Actually, Gabe and Tycho discourage donating old games or toys to Child's Play. Because of the kids' conditions, the used items can be a potential health hazard. However, you can still donate money directly, or purchase toys using the hospitals' Amazon wishlists!

Buying a shirt or too would probably be the best way to show your support. But I'm for donating used toys too. I don't mean old and broken and barely working kinds of toys. I'm thinking classic. Bring in the G.I. Joes! Bring in ghostbusters! My little pony and friends are back. I'm sure these kids would enjoy them as much as the kids back then did. Nothing strenuous with those toys.

Actually, if you guys have old games and systems, The Get-Well Gamers Foundation will take them. With the volume of stuff the Child's Play crew gets in, they can't take the time to disinfect each individual console, controller, and cartridge, but it's a burden we're happy to bear over here at the Foundation!
