Don't beat on kids for GoW

A 36 year old man in Detroit thinks it's okay to go around beating the crap out of a 15 year kid so he can get his hands on a video game. The man, Deion, was waiting in line at Gamestop to purchase Gears of War when the manager announced that they were running out of copies. So, logically he decided to push his way to the front of the line, have a confrontation, and proceeded to pummel a poor 15 year old kid for his copy of the game. The guy was arrested and the kid was taken to the hospital for his injuries. As for punishment, who's up for letting that kid have a chance to chainsaw old Deion in half?

Please tell me SOMEONE SOMEWHERE was nice enough to donate their copy of gears of war to this guy for getting beat on by some stupid 36 yr old.

Sure, when he's 17 or older. This Deion character is a complete ass, and I hope he's soon on the recieving end of some vicious prison rape for his actions... But what was the store doing selling GoW to a 15 year old kid, and what was the kid doing buying it? Maybe they sell different Gears of War in Detroit than they have here in LA... but the GoW I bought is ultra violent (which is good) ultra bloody (also good) and ultra M-rated... which last I checked means 17 and older?

And isnt enforced for shit anyplace outside of some places like walmart, and even then them asking you for ID is spotty at best.

Just give the kid his game, getting whooped on by some (probably fat) sweaty psycho for simply being at the front of a line should be payment enough for him owning the game.

Hope he becomes someones bitch in prison. Its just plain dumb to pull shit like that over a game. Just wonder how the console releases will go.

Yeah... I'm 16 and Gamestop sold Gears of War to me no questions asked... Wait, actually they asked me to preorder Halo 3, that counts as a question...

Wierd, because last summer when I tried to buy Oblivion that same Gamestop denied me because I wasn't 17. I had to go to four different locations before I found a place that didn't ask for ID.

That kid deserved it for picking on somebody older than him.

This is fake. This was started yesterday by some kid in the Gears of War forum at xbox.com. He had this bogus CNN link that didnt work. I looked for the story and couldnt find it. Its just BS. Its a little entertaining story but total fake.

Yea, this just sounds bogus from the get go.. and besides, it sounds really familiar.. like there was a similar bogus story like this before over a game.

Well, the way I felt today I would gladly pummel a 15 year old or perhaps even a small child for a copy. I was one of the unlucky "Memphis" debacle.

In relation to the article, it's sad that we as a society are so determined to get escape reality that we feel it's rules don't apply.

Its going to pale in comparison to the 17th and The So"rr"ny launch. My local toys r us is hiring 2 security guards for that day since they are only getting 6 units....

Bestbuy is doing their job. I look like a lumberjack with my facial hair (and was wearing flannel at the time too) and the guy at the front desk carded me for GOW.

So nice to see people keeping things in perspective.

Really tho, is it a wonder why we have people like Jack Thompson giving us crap for playing videogames? In the big picture, we really don't come off as the sane sort...

way to report on a bogus story. why don't you do us all a favor and check your facts before you post.

This story is fake, as there are seemingly no other media other than the blog that's linked in the article. If this was a true news story, there would be at least a couple of print media (i.e. newspaper) and maybe a report on local or regional TV. I'm calling for the article to be pulled, because it cannot be independently confirmed.

That's my $.02

How is the older guy supposed to know the kid is underage when he's standing in line to buy a MATURE-rated game? The kid had it coming. I don't feel sorry for anyone.
