Got the same call (EB Games, Cambridgeside Mall, Cambridge MA). They're going to offer $5 off the price.

No big deal. I'm too busy to get over there tonight anyways.

Downtown Toronto: EBGames had it last night (ghetto edition only), even for non-pre-orders. On the phone Game Shack (little retailer) said they would too. EB still had copies today (I got read errors on mine and exchanged it).

Fun game. Looking forward to trying out co-op tonight.

I went to Best Buy this monring when they opened, and they had just got their UPS shipment in. They said they shipped it a day late, or something like that. They had tons of regular editions, but I was waiting for the special edition, which they hadn't unboxed yet. So I waited 20 minutes and a guy came and brought me the special edition. Haven't played it yet. Damn work/school!!!!!!!

My local GameStop had the *regular* edition in by this afternoon, but the *collector's* edition (the one I ordered) did not show up. The word is possibly this evening (after 6 PM) or Thursday.

I picked up my copy (no pre-order) last night about 9pm at GameCrazy in SoCal. I was actually headed to the Target but I saw a big GoW sign out front stating "Available Now." My brother-in-law was able to convince the kids at GameStop to unlock the doors and sell him a copy (also no pre-order) at about the same time.

Gamestop in Braintree, MA can suck it. They told me they would have a Monday midnight sale, or I could pick it up on Tuesday morning. They blamed a shipping problem... I'm never buying from them again.

Bestbuy and Circuit City had plenty of copies with plenty of free stuff.

I live in North Carolina and I didn't preorder. No stores have gotten it yet, and at Walmart I was told either tomorrow or next Tuesday. I'm sure it'll be there tomorrow, though.

This happened to me in North Carolina. I preorder my copy at EBGames, thankfully I call before going there to pick it up because it wasn't there. I think went there today to get my copy and I was told it might be there in 3 hours. So I canceled my preorder and then ordered a copy and paid for overnight shipping. I hate EBgames!

The story we got here in Central Florida is as follows: The Fed Ex plane had engine troubles (both engines) and had to land in Nashville. The delay would effect all stores from Georgia down to Central Florida. They originally said they were trying to get shipment by 5pm but the latest report is the morning of 11/9 with a $5 discount.

Two roommates and myself found copies of the Collector's Edition at our local Wal-Mart at 12:00pm on 11/8. They were going pretty fast but worth looking into if you are in one of the affected areas.

The Gamestop I went to in Florida had the same problem but also made it sound like an isolated problem. They said that FedEx made an error and the game was stuck in Memphis. Others a couple of towns over had it but as I'm busy I couldn't drive out to get the game.

Washington State: Same thing, pre-ordered GoW at Gamestop so I could get it today(Wed) and I took the day off to play. First and last time I ever pre-order a game. Went to another store and luckily they had 2 copies. For a store that specializes in video games EB/Gamestop are the worst!! They need to go out of business and make some room for a more capable company.

My local Best Buy finally stocked GoW just after noontime, when they received their second shipment from UPS for the day.

This is in Northern California, SF Bay area.

Calling around everywhere confirmed that no one had it available yesterday or this morning. Everyone kept saying to check back this afternoon.

By the time I showed up to purchase one, they said they were down to six copies left-- none of which were on display. You had to ask them to retrieve one from a locked room.

Arlington, VA Pentagon City EB had a handwritten sign stating, "Sorry Gears shipment delayed" over the register. Just before I walked away in anger, a clerk comes running from the back dragging a huge box.

She says, "Are you looking for Gears of War? I think I got it here." Now, I'm all excited and she pulls out a u-knife to open the box. To my dismay, it is not the Gears shipment...but their PS3 kiosk unit.

I said, "I'll take that instead," but they didn't buy it.

I live in Kansas and after I got the prerecorded message called the GameStop I had it preordered from. They said that they got their shipment but they didn't recieve the collectors edition and wouldn't until Friday. They offered no refund for having to wait. The Wal-Mart across the street had 8 of them which I found interesting because that was the reason I had preordered was because they usually don't have games until a couple days after Game Stop.

I'm being told no one but some Walmarts have it in all of New Mexico... I must agree Gamestop is not handling this issue very well and is loosing a lot of business. However, Im sure the lack of knowledge from the employees is from the giant amount of nothingness that corp tells them. My take is, being I am in no hurry to get (finals are soon) I'd rather them tell me they have no clue than lie. It sounds like a lot of the stores are lieing tho : (

I live in Western North Carolina,
I had 4 preordered GoW from EB Games (for myself and my 3 boys) was basicly told the same, "ship to wrong place"... blah blah. but no kind of rebate. So I went to Rhino Video and bought them on the 8th (as of this morning the 9th, EB Games has not recieved them yet.)
My last 3 preorders have been at least 2 days late at EB Games. (this has started since the 2 companies "merged") Each with a different excuse.
I think the games are sent to a central location, when first shipped, and the next day they try to ship them to their individual stores.

I kind of hate pre-ordering... it's like giving the stores free loans with no interest.

The only upside is that you are supposed to be guaranteed a copy of the game when it comes out.

However, they can also have these snafus: late shipments. I had gone to my local EB in the mall in Annapolis, MD on the release day of GoW straight from work because I had placed a $5 pre-order on it. The clerk didn't know that it was supposed to be out that day and couldn't find it. Needless to say, I was disappointed. He said they'd have it tomorrow.

I come back the next day and behold: no copies of GoW. Upset once again. I decide to pick up a copy of FF XII to tide myself over. Haha, I didn't pre-order that one but I still managed to get a copy. So once again I'm hit with the barrage of questions: "Would you like to purchase a service plan on the game for a year? Would you like to reserve any games? Would you like to save 10% on your purchase by signing up for our membership card?" I politely said no, thank you to all their demands. Sometimes they'd pressure me further, and that's how I fell victim to their GoW preorder a couple months ago.

I also saw that they had the Wii out. It wasn't on, but I presumed that they didn't want kids to play it, having heard that some stores required ID and a credit card before handing out the wiimote. I asked to demo it... "No, sir. You can't." I didn't get any reason.

Sooooo... overall experience at EB games: They suck. At least the one in the Annapolis mall does.

Who can I complain to about this store? Anyone know the corporate office address so I can send them a letter of disapointment?

Thanks to EB, I'm gaming on my PS2 and my 360 sits alone with no one to play with.

Even now GoW is fairly uncommon on store shelves. All of the Gamestop and EBGames stores near me only ever have 1 or 2 copies on the shelf at a time, and forget about finding it used. Nobody trades it in. It is still selling out as fast as new stocks come in.
