I just want to let everyone know, that from what I've read/heard...you cant save VC games to the SD memory card. They can only be saved in the 512 internal memory. Of course this is not a big deal when most games aren't above like 5 megs, although I don't know how much 64 games are, couldn't be a ton though.

If I'm wrong, that would be great but I do remember reading that.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Have you tried the Nintendo SD card?

Id also recomend telling your system to do a BARELL ROLL!!!

have you tried formatting the SD card in some way? I'm sure it needs a sort of file structure in place before it can save.

...what about people who will not be connecting their Wii to the Internet? What happened to that startup disk everyone was talking about before?

There's no startup disc, according to the reports I've read. The display boxes that had "Wii Startup Disc" on them weren't final. The disc has since been removed from the contents listing.

Let me add that quote again:
"copy and delete data found on the Wii System Memory and SD cards".

This would lead me to believe that you can copy and delete data from the Wii Flash Memory (system memory) or the Wii SD cards (i.e., the ones specific for the system).

When I pre-ordered my Wii at EB Games the clerk there told me that only Wii brand SD cards could be used to save games and I'd have to pre-order one. So the fact you can't save to your other SD cards and what the manual says do make sense (you're just taking it out of context).

Or that you have to have content on the SD card before you can "copy and delete" it. I REALLY doubt Nintendo requires their own SD cards; that would completely take the point out of having an SD slot (except for the unnecessary Photo Channel).

That is, if they were going to require their own cards, why not just make it a Wii Memory Card slot?

I feel thay Nintendo probably should have bundled the Wi-fi dongle with the Wii so that those without a router could still update their firmware...

I don't know why Nintendo chose to use SD cards as a format aside from it being versatile and a standard cheap storage format. I'm posting again because I noticed this from Go Nintendo:

* “You can not save or overwrite photos or videos on the SD card.” (pg. 20)

So if you take that into account with the first quote, it is plausible that you may need a Wii SD Card to save games. Of course I can't vouch for any of this officially, but it does seem to be leaning in that direction. I only know what I was told at EB and what's been gleaned from the Wii user's manual.

@59: The Wii has built-in WiFi...no dongle needed. You need the dongle for a wired connection, though.

Since this is relevant, here's a site that allows you to upload Wii saved games http://www.wiisave.com

That is.. if sharing saves is possible.

#61 he is talking about the dongle for wifi broadcasting, not receiving. He wants them to include a 40 dollar peripheral so he can connect to the net through wifi.

Have you tried it with different games yet? There are some games out there, like Monster Hunter on the PS2, that didn't allow you to copy the save file. So it could just be that Twilight Princess has copy protection.

Solved:

System Update fixes the goodness, though most of you probably already know that ^_^ (I have no internet on my Wii yet)
