Ok , this is catastrophic ... what can I say , a nightmare . Like WTF ? Sure GTA will sell well , FF will sell well , MGS : PO will sell well , R&C will sell well , SH will sell well and ... no , I cant see no other game selling well . Maybe if a new RE would come out ot the PSP , maybe than , but seriously . What about SOCCOM , Killzone and other greate releses ? Common people , Sony really has to change his marketingplan if we and especially they want to see growth in the PSPs selling .

Well most kids buy DS and actually buy their games.

MOST who have PSPs are adults and dont buy games..just download them... it sucks for sony and in the end is gonna bite downloaders back.

And if you gonna go "DS can be modded too!" well ok go tell a kids parent to buy a 150 dollar mod from china so their kids can play stolen property.. NOT gonna happen.

Pooks - Do you have any ACTUAL evidence? I doubt that most people are downloading games due to the firmware updates, which most people don't know crap about. However though, the DS is much easier because it isn't impeded by firmware updates, although it requires a seperate device that you have to buy online, although no actual 'modding' is necessary at all.

It is a concern for me as well because it doesn't seem like the PSP sales are where they should be. I guess we'll have to see what this christmas brings. If you look at the recent PSP release list the games that are coming out on the PSP are insane but the numbers dont' show it.

You don't know anything about the DS, do you? Yes, you need 3rd party hardware, but you can get setup for $40-70 dollars of PNP hardware depending on what you want to do. There's no actual "modding" involved.

Personally...I'm not surprised at this news. If I'm going to drop $40 on a game, why not get the full experience on a console for the same price? Why not buy a full DVD for less money? The PSP's media just doesn't make much sense. If it could actually hold a PS2 game and play it, that would be different. *tries to imagine the price of a 8.5GB MS Pro Duo*

This is what I've been saying about the PSP. I dont think Sony's marketing should be entirely blamed for lackluster software sales. Afterall, this is the company thats credited for shipments of over 1.12 billion pieces of software for the PS2. If anyone knows good marketing, its Sony. Sony clearly and abundantly advertises the key (legal) features of the PSP as well as game info, along with third party publishers.

Simply put, I believe the underlying problem is the PSP hardware itself.

I don't believe that people downloading games are the reason for the poor sales. Mostly because a majority of the people that own a psp don't know how to get the games or how to make them work on their psp. I think the psp just does not have that many great games out right now. This sales chart was for Oct. so VCS or Socom and Killzone were not out yet. Maybe when the Nov sales chart comes out we will see a difference in the numbers.

Also the DS is very easy to get roms to run on I bought a flash cart for mine back when I first got my PHAT DS. I think I only spent like $35 on it and it uses SD cards so I can get like 50 games on one chip with no problem.
Unlike the PSP where you have to make sure you have the right firmware, if you don't you have to downgrade (oh make sure you have the right motherboard). Then get the latest version of devhook (or whatever program you want to use). Then find the ISOs for the game you want and download them. What your memory card is too small? Well you can get another program and rip out some stuff from the game to see if you can get it to fit. If you don't want to do that guess what you need to buy a larger memory card and spend more money. Yea that sounds like something everyone wants to do

I do download ISOs to see if I like the game if I do I buy the game if not I just delete the ISO. No need in having an ISO of a game I don't like. This has saved me from buying a crappy game more then once. (gripshift, scarface) for example.

I just bought a second PSP (white, bundled with loco roco) and killzone liberation yesterday. I thought it'd help the sales charts, but eventually it didn't. :-)

There are very HIGH quality games coming out soon or have been released recently: Killzone: Liberation, Ace Combat X, GTA:VCS, Metal Gear Solid: PO, Tekken: Dark Resurrection, SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo 2, Monster Hunter Portable 2nd, and so on. I don't have *half* that many games that I'd like to play on a DS, but that's just my personal bias. I don't think publishers will stop supporting the PSP because for some obvious (action/adult) genres, DS customers are not the targetted audience, IMHO.

suicide ninja hates Sony and loathes the PSP. Ignore the troll. You can't just throw $50 at a DS and do what you can on a PSP by any stretch of a fanboy's imagination. His views on media and the value of the games is worth less than the lamest UMD video.

As for the sales, again, I just don't care. The system is two years old and has some hands-down excellent games. The DS is a kid phenom with its astronomical Pokemon sales, and let's face it, those games are garbage anymore. There was some RPGness appeal to the early ones, but by now that cow has been milked dry (much like the other Nintendo franchises). If the publishers bail on the PSP for the coming year, oh well. It had a good run... But the thing is, there's ZERO evidence of that happening at this point, so why worry about it, now?

Oh right, because 70% of the people who post here are Nintendo trolls bent on making Sony and the PSP look as bad as possible.

PSP sales will be low now, because your average PSP owner is saving up for the PS3. sales levels will return to normal in a few weeks. in general software/ hardware sales slump right before a console launch. in this case, there are two.

I agree, I don't believe that people downloading games are the reason for the poor sales either. It's the PSP being shit that's the reason for the poor sales.

I think you should take a look on the street and see how many people there are with PSPs. There is a lot of them. But unfortunately they are not being used for their intended purpose. They are using the PSP as a fucking MP3 player to listen to their gangsta rap!!! (Their pants are the only ones big enough to fit the PSP in the pocket).

The problem here is that it seems that 40% of the PSP population uses it as an MP3 player, not as a game player. Because of that, I have sold my precious 1.50 PSP. I hate a lot of the games on the PSP...INCLUDING GTA!!!

Pixelator: "Oh, me. Oh, my. Everyone that disagrees with ME is conspiring against SONY. I AM the one and true voice for the gaming industry and everyone else is a fanboy troll."

Why in the f'ck does the blood of an "intellectual" bastard such as yourself boil whenever someone speaks against SONY? Kings, the kind you see yourself as, don't acknowledge trolls, they simply step over them and continue walking. Only trolls feel the need to communicate with their kind.

Yes, I am aware that by responding to your post I have called myself a troll.
